I have a text box which I want to display a certain text on it when it loads, say, "demotext", for example. However, I want it to clear that text when the user clicks on it and then only displays stars when they type (as if it has turned into a password box when they clicked on it). So far I only have this:

How do I hide the letters in a password input text box. I have an input text box for the viewer to type in a password and would like the password to not show when typed in, like is the case with html text boxes, where you just see a bullet for each letter in the password. How would I do this? Is there a font I could use?

I'm probably doing something very stupid here... but I can't figure out what. I've done my research, gone over examples online and in books, still not working. The text field goes blank, but I cannot type into it, and it loses focus (if I try using Selection.setFocus(this); it doesn't work).
I'm making a form and i want to set a backgroundColor for the textfields onSetFocus and that the backgroundColors dissapear again onKillFocus. So far I have this code

but to me it seems that there must be a way to combine all this lines of code into one single function or at least two one for the setFocus and one for the killFocus.
I need to put together an editable text area that has a custom caret (cursor) which is different from the default blinking vertical line. Is the caret a "skinnable" property of text input? note that I am not asking about the mouse pointer cursor which can be set using the CursorManager.

I'm attempting to make a Username and Password input box, with a set username and password that will take you to the next frame, but whenever I test it it just stays in the same frame.

I have a cart system I designed, in the check out process the user fills out their billing info and are given the option to check a box if the shipping info is the same.
I would like to have an event listener which looks for the box being checked and at which point changes the var's on the input texts for shipping to the ones used in billing info. So in essence checking the box will populate the shipping info fields.

My issue is when I check the answer to see if it is correct Actionscript 2.0 sees the entered Input as text not a numeric value so I cannot compare it against the calculated value. The function compares letters in a specific position within my 2 strings (charAt(j)) and disregards the previous letters, plus it deos not "update" but only adding new strings to my list.

However, there is some flaw I can't find in the script and if I try to enter anything in the box, it is changed to "orangemarmalade" (see below) and only enters there (acting as if I typed "orangemarmalade" every time).

For example. I have a particle system with a set number of particles active on the screen at any time "numOfParticles". I am trying to be able to change "numOfParticles" to define itself based on whatever number you input in the input_txt field. So far I am able to display the number of particles into the input text box:

I've got a form that the user enters numeric values in to a series of text Input fields. I want to allow the user to use the arrow keys in addition to the tab keys to control the active focus of the fields.
I set up a 2D array with the names of the input fields as values. I'm trying to call the name of the input field from the array and then assigning the focus, but I'm getting Error 1067 implicit coercion errors.

It just take a long time to change the Password character currently if i am enabling the displayAsPassword property of TextInput it gives '*' as a password character and I want to change that to '#' so is there any possible way?

The control displays asterisks instead of the characters themselves when the 'displayAsPassword' is set to true. Quoting the documentation,displayAsPassword If true, the field does not display entered text, instead, each text character entered into the control appears as the character "*".So, is there any way to change this displayed character, unless of course creating a custom component or extending the existing TextInput control?

View 2 Repliesthe last of many problems, is that at the very end of the test, you're shown your score, and you have the option to type your name in a text box and click "save". Doing so will apply you score data (time elapsed, date, correct answers and percentage) along with the name you typed in, and output in a form, that you can save or print off, or whatever. The problem is, the input text box will not let you type in it. If you mouse over it, the mouse stays a pointer, you don't get the text tool. If you click on it, the cursor appears for a split second after you release the mouse button, but you cannot type anything in it.This is the actionscript for the output form:
