I'm trying to write an application that receives XML info from a specific site (stats for my Live365 webcast actually). This is my first MX project. I've read through the Macromedia support topics and have come up empty handed.

View 2 RepliesOkay, there is something that I don't quite understand. I built a flash contact form in Flash CS4 and embedded the swf in my webpage using Dreamweaver CS4. I upload the files in my server but why it's not working? I created a test folder in my folder and it does work... (It doesn't work here) [URL] The problem is that I'm not receiving the information when the user enters and submits the information on the contact form. I do receive the information on the test link. I'm posting the Flash AS and PHP Code to see if anyone can point out any mistake that I'm doing.

At the moment I'm trying to build a flash site with a print button which will target specific areas of my site (including the contents of a scrollpane) and then fit them to the size of the page. not to bad, so now your html is loading the swf with the url variable. the problem is this data is hard coded into the html.now for the question. how do i get the html to pass the url variable it receives onto the flash?
I have an HTML document with a Flash object and an absolutely positioned HTML element above it. If I set the HTML element's opacity CSS property to any value less than 1, the Flash object (that is actually covered) receives mouse events. This problem cannot be reproduced with pure HTML elements. Furthermore, Flash only receives hover events, so I cannot click below the layer.I put a demonstration of the problem online.I get this behavior in Firefox 3.6, Safari 4.0 and Chrome 5.0 in both Mac and Windows. Flash plugin version 10 is installed.Is it a bug or the the normal and expected behavior? If the latter, then how can I prevent Flash receiving events when it is covered with a translucent layer?

I'm having a problem where buttons and MCs are receiving clicks even when they are either hidden (opacity=0) or below another layer.

When the mouse moves over one of the container's children (e.g. a button), the Panel receives a MouseOut event where the target and currentTarget properties reference the Panel itself. That causes me problems. I only want the Panel MouseOut event when I leave the panel, not when I enter a child of the panel. Are there any way to turn that off?See example:

i have made a site in flash. stage size 955x600 i have exported it as fullscreen with no scale. the problem is that if i browse the site with a resolution of 800x600 (760x420 if i'm not wrong), the browser dont' add scrolls and its impossible to see the complete site. How can i fix this without resizing the site. i want the users to see with the proportions that i have now.. ijust want a scroll on the browser.
View 2 RepliesI've created several buttons and each contains a movie clip. I then placed each button on the main scene. Everything works well except the movie restarts every time the button over event is fired. I added a mouse over listener to each button so I can reposition the button. However, the movie restarts even if I don't reposition the button. (i.e. Button 1 is active and the mouse leaves the player and returns to Button 1.) How do I keep the movie that is embedded in the button from restarting?

This works fine when I test the movie from Flash (on my local machine) and if I type the query string directly into my browser, I get the correctly formatted information. The problem arises when I post the swf to my server and test. From my server, I get nothing The swf files and the data are on different servers. Is this the problem? What is a good quick solution.
My client wants a click tracker. They want the kiosk flash projector to track the cumulative clicks a page receives. They are referencing the use of a third party software using actionscript sharedobject to identify the clicks.
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to create an application that receives variables passed through FlashVars and makes use of the new TLFTextField. I have run into an issue with accessing the FlashVars after declaring a TLFTextField variable.
The code I have is as follows:

The HTML file is passing a FlashVars value of "title=ThisIsTheTitle" If I run the code, the tf TextField is empty. If I comment out the last line that creates the TLFTextField, the FlashVars come through fine and the tf TextField displays the "title" variable that was passed through FlashVars.If I change the last line to read:

It works fine (the "title" variable from FlashVars is show in the tf TextField). I don't understand why delcaring a TLFTextField prevents the FlashVars from being accessed.

View 1 RepliesI have objects that the user can click&drag. They're PNGs, mainly rectangular, no problem till here.But I then had to put an L-shaped object (a PNG with a lot of transparency), so i've made a movieclip with an shape with the same L shape than the png, and use it as its hitArea:

This works PERFECT, the mouse events respond as expected, and I can click on objects that are below/above the transparent area of the png/object.All objects are inside a Sprite called playgroundLayer1. The issue comes when I take the L-shaped object and put it on another Sprite (playgroundLayer2), that is above the playgroundLayer1.I this case, I can click&drag on the L, but no object below the transparent area of the L receives mouse events.
I have some people making a site that uses PHP and mysql. You will be logging in first to the PHP site, but the Flash based component of it requires to use the same log in and password. Do they have to log in twice??????
