ActionScript 2.0 :: Moving Multiple Items Using OnEnterFrame?

I am trying create to move objects (boxes, named box_1, box_2 etc) to positions on the stage (xPos_1, xPos_2 etc) using onEnterFrames. I can make all the boxes move individually, but I cant get them to move together. I am using the following code in an attempt to move 3 boxes.

Ok, This actually works butI want it out of EnterFrame. what is going on is this... The user moves a movieClip called selector.selectorCollisionBox over the movieClip called fG.buidling1 Then the string buildingName is no longer NULL or "", it becomes whatever I set it to. Also a Button is added to the top of the selector so the user can click that and 'enter the building' to view info about it.(or that last part is the plan down the road)

problem is, it seems like it is checking this constantly because I have it on EnterFrame. Is there a way to make an event that just specifically looks for if (selector.selectorCollisionBox.hitTestObject(fG.bu ilding1)) ?? Or better yet, maybe I can have a boolean, overBuilding1 = true that fires all those properties off once instead of every EnterFrame? That way onEnterFrame just fires off a condition? I am so close to understanding this.. I feel like I am at my last brain hurdle.

onEnterFrame=null, onEnterFrame=undefined & delete onEnterFrame....
Which one to use??? What are the performance considerations. If all my movieclips on-stage are running a MovieClip.prototype.onEnterFrame = function() {run initial stuff before setting onEnterFrame=null/undefined... }, will there be performance hits? It's sad that delete onEnterFrame doesn't work unless I delete the prototype enterFrame as well, which would make the clips reinitailise itself again once you declare the enterFrame prototype again (i need to do this since there's more movieclips that end up appearing on-stage, and they need to automatically initialises themselves the moment they appear).

I'm trying to set up a script which would force an object to move through the stage until a particular point and than change direction. I wrote something like that:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
moveUp = function () {
this._y -= 1;
if (this._y<-30) {
this.onEnterFrame = moveDown;
}};
moveDown = function () {
this._y += 1;
if (this._y>600) {
this.onEnterFrame = moveUp;

But it doesn't work. the object moves only one direction and does not change it.

I have a map with a list of items to the side. I want the list to work as buttons and highlight both the button and the particular image on the map... and when you click you link to a certain location.I also want to be able to MouseOver the map, have both the image on the map and the corresponding 'button' from the list highlight - but when you click, you go to a different location than if you would have clicked from the list.I have it set up - but something is conflicting. I need to build something like a banner that shows two things. One is a picture coming in from the left or right side of the screen. The second is related text coming in from the left or right on the screen. I need to have it all controlled by an XML file that lets me specify the picture, direction the picture is coming from, text, and direction the text is coming in from.

I have a vertical menu which is generated via xml. Each menu item also has its own sub menu (not shown). When clicking on the top level item I want the rest of the items to move down to show the sub navigation. i.e.
menu item 1
menu item 2
menu item 3
menu item 4
menu item 1
sub menu 1
sub menu 2
sub menu 3
menu item 2
menu item 3
menu item 4
I have that working fine. Say if I have clicked on menu item 1, and the sub menu is displaying, before i have can view another sub menu I have to click on menu item 1 to close it before I can click on menu item 2.

I have entered the following code and both items do import, but i cant control the label of the second library item called "Cool"After doing some digging, i think i found out the class name of the second object was called "Cool" and the base class was "import flash.display.SimpleButton;" so it looked like i had to import that class at the top like i did! But still not working. and still no joy!I think i need to add in "public class Cool extends SimpleButton" so it inherits the SimpleButton class after the first public class and then create a new function called "public function Cool() " and then add the function body but when i go to do that it all goes wrong. Am i on the right track or am i missing a trick!!

I have a horizontally scrolling flying game involving a character and diferent types of food moving across the screen from right to left which the character has to collect ("hit"). I have the hitTestObject working for 2 different food movieclips with one item belonging to a healthyList, and the other to a junkList.
how to add more items (movieclips) to each of the lists, so that I have for example 6 items in the healthyList and 4 items in the junkList.
Below is the code in my Engine.as file. The red highlighted text is the code that creates the problem. I thought that I just needed to add this line in order to add another item to the "healthyList" of food types, but I obviously have it in the wrong place or have the wrong code completely.

I have an array of say, food products. The array is full and fully visible at first. I have a filtering system, by which I can eliminate, one at a time, a certain category. So let's say that I disable the "fruits" category. The fruits disappear and I'm left with "holes" in the array. Up to this point it's all good, I can handle it. The problem is that now I want to close these "holes" by moving the remaining items around. And I have no idea how to calculate/formulate the logic of this movement.

I have a DisplayObject at the bottom, that's clickable and has a hover state, underneath a TextField. The big problem is, I need all MouseEvents to go to *both* of them, not just the TextField, not just the DisplayObject. Reason being is I have text that require tooltips to be attached to the mouse which are on top of those DisplayObjects underneath.

I understand that the target and the movie clip have to have the same name, like "book_mc" has to have a target of "targetbook_mc", but is there another way to do this so that "book_mc" and "pencil_mc" can both have the same target?

I have an ArrayCollection that is the dataProvider for a spark.components.List, which has allowMultipleSelection="true". There is a "Remove Selected Items" button which initiates the removal of all the selected items from the ArrayCollection upon being clicked.
I currently use the following method:
myList.selectedIndices.sort(ascendingSort);
// remove items, counting backwards
for (var i:uint = myList.selectedIndices.length; i > 0; i--) {
myArrayCollection.removeItemAt(myList.selectedIndices[i-1]);
}
where ascendingSort does what you expect ;). It works fine, and I know that it will always work.
However, I did take note that if I neglected the sort altogether, to my surprise the removal still worked. The reason for this turned out to be that, when the removeItemAt is called, the selectedIndices are correspondingly updated.
So my question is: Can one rely upon a removeItemAt call updating the values in the selectedIndices? or might that turn out to be different between runtimes and/or Flex SDK versions?

I wish to move multiple items at the same time with tween.
I'm currently using a loop that calls for the same tween for each item.
I then want to do something when the tween has finished using the tween listener. The problem is that it is being called each time for every item that is being moved. I know I could do some variable that changes from true to flase if its been called once, but is there a better way of doing this?

The three text fields below (txt1, txt2, txt3) are in three different frames (1, 2, 3)... With my current code, text data from my xml file seems to be uploaded only in the textfield in the first frame. How do I load the other items from my xml file into the other textfields?
