ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash - Links Will Not Open In Myspace Anymore
Aug 28, 2006
my links will not open in myspace anymore. read this article for further explanation. [URL] i dont understand what they mean. im just trying to get these buttons working... [URL]
I'm having trouble making Flash open any links when embedded into my MySpace profile. I'm developing a MySpace profile layout that uses embedded SWF movies in custom created DIVs. Everything was going great. Things were loading into place and I managed to get my homemade Twitter widget to update perfectly using a crossdomain.xml.
The one problem I can't seem to address is the 'opening links' issue. Upon searching for the last couple of days, I came across some articles that claim MySpace blocks "navigateToURL" commands. Also found out a workaround that involves placing a transparent GIF over the area which is supposed to be clickable, but I still have hope that such a basic function as clicking a button within an embedded SWF in MySpace and opening said link can be achieved.
I am trying to have multiple links off site but have hit a brick wall. If I have the code listed below, it opens the second link as soon as you open the links page, If I have the"function onLinkClick (evt)", above btn6_btn I end up with the duplicate error message. Is there a way to have multiple link buttons on a page. I have played with this for hours.
I have installed CS5 recently and then deleted CS4, since doing so (or at least I think that's the cause), I cannot open SWF by a simple double click like I used to. Opening them in browser or in CS works fine but I still want to be able to open those SWF with a double click.
Tried using "open with", then Flash CS5, without success. Also went on Adobe's website to try redownloading the flash plugin but didn't let me download it as "browser already have flash plugin installed".
How did you re-established the double click to open a SWF?
I'm having a little trouble with my flash banner. When I click on my button, it opens the link I specified in a new window or new tab, like target _blank in HTML. I want it to open in the same window, so you're still navigating through the site. Here's my button's code: link_btn5.addEventListener(MouseEvent.... goToURL5); function goToURL5(e:MouseEvent):void{ navigateToURL(new URLRequest ("/forums/index.php "));}
[URL] On the left you will see a menu, it will be flash (actionscript MX 2004) and for the effect I want it will have to be flash. Now, heres the tricky part for me: I want those links to open up different pages inside the black center box either using frames or php. How could this be done? On the menu part, also, with the buttons, I need to make them movie clips for the effect I need for the rollover, but I want the movieclip to have a hitspace, how do I assign a movie clip a hit space.
I'm having trouble getting Flash to work on Myspace. I'm running OS X 10.6.7 on an iMac, and using Firefox 4, Safari 5, and Opera 11 ... and nothing works. Myspace pages come up OK, but don't allow me to play songs on them. I've reinstalled the latest Flash ... am I missing some sort of additional plugin, or have I added some other plugin that's preventing it from working? and if I haven't provided enough info, I'm sorry, I'm a first-timer here.
I've been looking online for a while today to try to locate some information on how to pull information into flash (CS3) from Facebook and more so from Myspace. The reasoning for the myspace (I hate it as much as the next guy) is that I really want the look and feel to mimic the site I'm working on to keep the branding.Currently I have a theme from URL... placed in my theme at URL... and had used the myspaceID for allowing the application access to the account.
I was just wondering how when you assign a link to a button, instead of it opening that link in the same window, how can i get it to open it in a new one.
I have a rotating banner that I have created and it receives it's image and url info from an XML document. When you click on the image displayed it takes you to the correct link but it opens it in a new window. Is there a way to make the link open in the current window?
When the button is pressed, it tries to open in a new tab or in a new window (depending on if you are using Firefox or IE) and first gets blocked by the pop up blocker.
How can I make this where it opens without targeting "_blank" ???
Code: { var targetURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://nameofwebsite.com/about.htm"); navigateToURL(targetURL); this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, goURL); }
I have a Flash site which uses SWFAddress, it has been working fine for more than a year. Recently I opened the fla file again in order to update the site, which I do often. When I publish the swf to test it and click on a link which is supposed to link to another page within the swf itself, instead this opens up Google Chrome, which appears to be going to chromium.org, then the browser crashes. After this, all links within the swf work normally. This is happening with fla / swf files that were working perfectly fine before, and haven't been modified since.
When I upload the file onto the web server to update the site, it behaves a bit randomly; sometimes it works fine, other times the very first clicked link doesn't work, however if I click the same link again or any other link on the page it works fine from then on.
I have navigateToURL(new URLRequest("page address"),"_self"); still opening a new window for all of the buttons in my menu. I think I have the syntax correct so are there any other factors?
Here is the code
ActionScript Code: Button1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,mouse1DownHandler); function mouse1DownHandler(event:MouseEvent):void {
i found this code somewhere, and have used it for a site, but the links open on the same page and i cant find an option to have them open in a different target window.AS code:
Code: // The first step is to activate the XML object headlineXML = new XML();
How on earth do I get the HTML links inside a flash movie open up in the same browser window where said movie is embedded in (As opposed to opening up as a new pop-up windows)? Here is the code I have inside each of the buttons I have inside my flash movie:
var link7:URLRequest=new URLRequest("videos/december.html"); videos_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClicked7); function buttonClicked7(event:MouseEvent):void { navigateToURL(link7); }
The page is loaded fine.But when I click the links I found sometimes there was no any response while I need a new explore window opened with the linking url.And also I tried:
does anyone noticed when using the latest flash player (10), all website thatuse preloading and is publihed with actionscript 2.0 is not working anymore. Only the onloadComplete or onLoadInit is triggerd, so preload animations are skiped. For example i made this website a while ago that worked fine with flash players up to verion 9.Now the preload percentage is not showing anywhere. I also tested other websites that i know off where made in actionscript 2.0
I created a new flash ide project and used a document class named 'Main.as'. Then I created Main.as file. I then drew a box and converted it to a movieclip and used export for actionscript on it. I assigned the square box in the flash ide the instance name 'box1'. Below is my Main.as file[code]...
I made a quick flash document for my friend who posted it his MySpace. The document has 3 buttons, each with a URL attached to them. When I play the SWF file locally, the links work fine, however once it's published to MySpace, the links refuse to work. The hand icon comes up so it understands them at least as buttons, but it seems to do nothing when clicked in the web-browser. Also, I can open the SWF in my browser and it also works fine.
I'm using Flash CS5 and working in ActionScript 3.0.The three buttons are on one layer called "Buttons". I right click the button and click "Actions". From there, I click the "Code Snippets" and under the folder "Actions" there is an item called "Click to Go To Webpage". Here is the code it gives you by default:
button_2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToWebPage_6); function fl_ClickToGoToWebPage_6(event:MouseEvent):void { navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.adobe.com"), "_blank"); }
I heard there was a problem with MySpace not allowing action scripts, and after checking the source code, the value is set to not allow action scripts. I don't think it's a browser issue, since it's working fine when I execute the SWF by itself, and when I load it into Firefox. It's just seems MySpace is having a problem with it.
I create a button in flash cs4 and click "publish preview -flash" and my button works. I save my file and click "publish preview - flash" again, my button doesn't work anymore.??I'm using Flash CS4 on an IBM compatible.
Has there been an update this weekend thats broke masking I have tried to gradient mask an object both by using a vector mask and a png mask. NONE OF THEM WORK! Last week it woeked - and nooene else here at my job can get it to work either.Gradient masks are just shows by a square. No way of of getting smooth edges (gradients on a masked object anymore).
So i made an expandable banner which overlaps a flash map. But now the flash map doesn't reacts any more for the part that is being overlap by the banner
the flash autoformat destroys my code... And i use it all the time .. my switch and for statements doesnt work anymore after autoformat, it adds ';' where it shouldnt..
I have a question for anybody that can answer this one... I have created a photo thing for myspace but when I put my swf file into my myspace it will not load the xml file that the photos are in. The swf works perfect on my server though.
Ok this isn't as much of a flash issue but I can't figure out why the page loads this way. For those that can't see the image when myspace loads it automatically has the typing indicator on the search bar so if one of my friends trys to use my cmd prompt he types something in it searches on mysace. The only way around this is to click in the grey area / off the search bar then click the input box to begin typing. I'm wondering if there is a way if you guys know the where my flash input box gets priority over the typing indicator blinky thing.
Is it possible to load in data of a myspace agenda as xml? Or is there a wsdl? I could not find an easy way to do this. I checked the myspace opensocial, but you use this only when you are building an application for the myspace site, right ?
i created an actionscript 3 swf file and put it on myspace. that swf file contains a pretty simple xml pic loader.my problem now is that the xml content doesnt work in myspace! if i try it straight on my server it works fluently.URL...
I was given the following code to have my button open a link.
testbtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, gotest); function gotest(event:MouseEvent):void { navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.bing.com/")); }
This function works fine except that it opens all my links in new windows or tabs. I added the "_self" parameter to the function and created the following:
here comes Explorer destroying any attemp of web design. I've made a flash menu for my joomla site. The menu works great in FF but guess what, this doesn't work in IE 7. This is the simple line of code: navigateToURL(new URLRequest("[URL]"), "_blank"); In FF after the fb button is clicked it goes to the link in a new window....but in Explorer this doesn't work. If I leave it by default: navigateToURL(new URLRequest("[URL]"));
Same result: FF yes - IE7 none What do I must to code in orther to that "Pseudo-Browser" opens a simple New Window. Sorry about the tone but I'm about to cry cause there could'nt be something simplier than this line of code.
I am trying to find a way, if any,to pull show information from their myspace page to show in my flash app.Want to do this using php,but other than that not sure where to begin.
