ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading File Plays Before Loading Is Complete
Sep 4, 2009
I have a "loader.swf" after which my "main.swf" loades. I have used a loaderPro v3 (AS2) component. Doing that was easy but then when it starts loading, even before the loading completes the main.swf starts playing in the background. And i have no coding in my actions panel.

i have a swf file which i want to load into a fla file and export as a new swf file. I understand this part but my actionscript 3.0 code that i put on frame one of the timeline does not work. I have tried every version i have seen online including in adobe's actionscript 3 classroom in a book.... and other books..... i want the swf to run immediately so i dont think i need any event listeners since i am not clicking a button or anything like that... just running the swf at start.

I am loading in binary files with the url class which can be quite large 10mb + and it works fine on my server but another server I am testing on it can sometimes not work. Sometimes it will not load the file and other times it will only load about 20% and it throw a complete event??? Then of course other times it works fine. This server is https maybe that has something to do this it?

I'm trying to load external swf (with more than one frame and actionscript 3 on every frame - I used there "timeline" coding) from my main swf.code for loading external swf into main swf:
var loader01:Loader;
function openGame1(evt:Event):void{ loader01 = new Loader(); var requestSWF01:URLRequest = new URLRequest("game01.swf");

I'm making a game, and all the levels are in different swf. What is the script to have the next swf begin playing after one is complete?
basically:
game starts, beat level, button comes up saying next level, click it, and it goes to a different swf called level two.

i want to make an intro swf which is small and loads quickly but i would like the main swf to start loading while the intro is playing. i'm not worried about the intro finishing once the main movie is loaded but i just want to the main movie to START loading while the intro is playing to cut down on load time.

If I have an HTML splash page that has a embedded SWF consisting of a preloader (for itself) at the start of its timeline, then a 5 second hold (no new Flash material), and then have a number of images on HTML page in a <div style="display:none;visiblity:hidden;">, all set with sizes of 1x1:2) Does the SWF get priority with the download, or are both the SWF and images given the same download priority?3) How would I preload (on the splash page) a second SWF that is used in the inner page? Would I embed it as usual, but use the CSS display:none, and set the size as 1x1, as I do with images?
4) Is there a better way to preload the SWF, where the main (splash) SWF actually loops while it downloads the second swf? Would I be loading that second SWF into the splash SWF on a different document level? What ActionScript commands would I use for that? loadMovieNum()? Would I put the incoming second SWF off stage, or set its visibility to hidden?I figured I'd preload some of the interface/common graphics for the inner HTML page that the visitor is brought to after the initial Flash splash page. Even without a preloader that would loop until all the content is loaded, I figured I could just have the splash page hold for a bit, and give the hidden <div> images a chance to load in the background. Obviously, using that method wouldn't guarantee that all the imags load, since it's unmonitored, but would at least give them a bit of a head start

I am going to have a single page, with a 6 minute sound clip looping (don't ask - sort of a for-fun site I am doing at work). I have broken the clip down into 12 smaller clips to reduce file size, and I want to have a random clip play each time a user refreshes, but then have the clips play sequentially from wherever they start (e.g. randomly start with clip 10, then play 11, 12, 1, 2, etc.). I have created 12 different flash files, each with one of the sound clips.n the last frame of each of the 12 files, I am loading the next movie. For example, clip 1 has:Code:loadMovieNum("clip2.swf", 0);Everything is working, except I want to have the next sequential sound clip loaded while the current clip is playing, so that the sound plays smoothly with no interruptions. Right now there is a slight pause between each clip.
I have looked through a lot of the pre-loader scripts and posts, but I don't want to have any sort of obvious pre-loader if I can avoid it (no "loading" bar, etc.). I also was not sure whether I should be putting the code on the main file, or on each of the 12 files (which seems more likely).Also, if there is an easier way you can think of to do this, that would be great as well (the main reason I separated them into separate .swfs is because I thought it would load quicker when the user first gets to the page).

I've got some code that loads multiple swf files -- it works great, EXCEPT when the swf files are really small - then they load before the listeners are called - so the "COMPLETE" is never called. So my app just never works.
Here is Actionscript Code:
var _swfLoader:Loader;
var _swfRequest:URLRequest;
var allSWF:Array = new Array();
function loadSWFS():void{
allSWF = ["f1.swf","g2.swf","bob.swf"];
[Code] .....
My currentSwfProgress function always seems to work - so if i load 5 swf files, i will get the trace from the currentSwfProgress 5 times -- but not from the loadComplete function. I have been reading though, that the ProgressEvent.PROGRESS listener is unreliable in certain browsers (chrome for one). I think if I could somehow call the loadComplete function from currentSwfProgress function - that would work, but i do not know how to get the "EVENT" needed in loadComplete from the "ProgressEvent" used in the currentSwfProgress. Maybe something like this...
Actionscript Code:
function currentSwfProgress(
e:ProgressEvent):void{
if (e.target.bytesLoaded == e.target.bytesTotal){
trace("1 - FILE LOADED!");
loadComplete(e.get.the.parent.event())
}}

f.source="video1.flv";

I'm an experienced AS developer, but this is something very basic about flex that I can't figure out. In the class below, I'm not sure why the function imageLoaded would not be executed when the image loads a url. Is there a race condition happening here? The application is completely loaded by the time this object is created and setPicture is called. How can I get the Event.COMPLETE event to fire properly in this case?The line and Log.info functions are conveniences for me, and they definitely work. Here's my MXML definition:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<photo:PhotoClass xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" xmlns:photo="com.xxx.widgets.photo.*">

myLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Progre ssEvent.PROGRESS, OnGameLoadProgress);

My flash app (as3, flash9) needs to load images from multiple servers.
When running the site on localhost, the loading of images works, regardless of which address it was loaded from. I can load it from
[URL]
But what does NOT work is to have a "Event.COMPLETE" triggered from the Loader that I use, if the Url of the image is not the same address as the one where I load the flash file from. The image loads and displays, but no COMPLETE or even an ioError event is triggered.

How would you defer loading of other graphics on the page until after the images in a Flash gallery's images.xml file are finished loading?Is there any way to detect for this, or would I only be able to check if the flash swf object is finished loading? I'm pretty sure the swf object would be loaded/ready as with document.getElementById('flashobject').onload = function(){}; before the corresponding images have loaded though, instead of after.

how to get flv's to load up dynamically using xml - it all works well apart from this one problem that i have.
when the thumbnail for the flv is clicked the preloader appears and the flv starts to load - but for some reason the audio begins to play almost immediately - then when the flv actually loads then the audio plays again whilst the initial (unwanted) audio carries on playing!
this is the script for the netstream:

I have loaded a jpeg image in flash. Now I need the handler after the loading complete. I have used ActionScript Code:
var imageLoader:Loader = new Loader();
var req:URLRequest=new URLRequest(arr[0]);
imageLoader.load(req);
mc.addChild(imageLoader);
imageLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, image_func);
function image_func(e:Event):void {
trace("image laoded complete");
}
The above code is not working for loading complete.

Unfortunately the search function on the site doesnt seem to be working. I have a website [URL]. We have created a loading page so that the user enters the site when the site is fully loaded. Unfortunately this doesnt work for those parts of the website that are being loaded externally i.e. through XML files.
An example of this can be seen on the showcase section on the left side of the Home Page.
Can I also mention that there are over 250 images being loaded externally through the XML files as well as a number of text blocks. I as a web developer are completely against this amount of images but the client wants them in so unfortunately they have to stay.

I'm coding a FontRegister class that register fonts from an external library.swf.Instead of writing 'manually' all the font class names as strings ("MyFont1","MyFont2",...) to be registered via getDefinition(), I wanted the script to automatically list and register all the fonts in the loaded swf.Font.enumerateFonts() only works on the current ApplicationDomain.... How do I check|trigger enumerateFonts in library.swf when loading is complete?

How do you return data from a custom class, and only when something in the custom class has completed something. For example, let's say I have this code in the custom class[code]...
This, of course, doesn't work. I need the whatever.getLoadedObject() method to wait until the loading has finished inside the custom class then do whatever with the image loaded.

I am creating an interactive CD ROM that has a flash file with a 200 meg video file in it. I want to run a pre-loader that will indicate "loading..." and indicate the file is loading. I have a stop action script built into my first keyframe and on a seperate layer the following action script:
[Code]...
When I go from scene 1 to scene 2 and load the movie, there is a 4 - 5 second delay before I get my Loading text. The file then loads rather quickly and the video file plays. I know this is a big file to load into memory from a CD, but would like the "Loading..." to display immeidately, so the user will know what is going on. Does anyone know why I am geting this delay or how to overcome it? Again, this is not an internal job or running from a web server. It is loading on a local client from a CD ROM drive.

Got a really big problem here. I keep on getting "NetConnection.Connect.Failed" when I load a .asc file on my main.asc file, i use the method load() in my code. I really don't understand why this happens, but when i comment out the code that loads the asc file, I can successfully connect to fms. I can't figure out what's happening here. Btw, i'm using fms4 in windows 7 32bit.

what I'm trying to do is make a preloader that will preload about 20 external SWF files before it lets you get to my main file. I want to do this because my main file needs the SWFs to be ready to go once its done loading. I have looked around and i found a few ways to do this with the "if (loadedBytes>=totalBytes)" and the code loops back till the files are done loading... this would be just what i need but i cant seem to get it to work. the file just seems to start loading my files but does not loop and just runs the time-line even once i state what frames i want it to loop.
