ActionScript 3.0 :: Floating Images Track Mouse?

I always come here and scour the tutorials and forums for help when I need it- but this is the first time I've not been able to find what I need or in the form that I want - anywhere it seems! The site that I am working on consists of one main element, from which the user can open frames containing information. As you can imagine this is pretty one dimensional- so I'm looking to add some depth to this site. Now the point- I really enjoy the effect demonstrated on the website for Pretty Lights music.
The effect I'm referring to is having background elements slightly follow the mouse - and they track in different strengths (creating a nice feeling of depth). I don't plan on my own being as complex- the idea I had was simply having some "dust" looking specks in front of and behind my main content, and having it all track slightly with the mouse as the user navigates the site.

really stuck with my thumbnails. Already get to open (load) the movie (container) with all the images but only get that the first thumbnail open all the container, so i canī set each particular thumbnail to open the corresponding big size image, this is what i got nowInto Characters and Illustrations, and click on the first thumb (upper-left)...really bad

Having a problem with a little animation involving balloons floating in and then floating out again when a condition is met. There are two ways they can float in or out: from left to right, or completely randomly. I actually like it as coming in (left to right) and going out (random) but it's essentially up to the user.
Since I moved my Array sort code into the function that basically deals with telling the balloons to float off though, I've been having problems. Sometimes one or a couple of the balloons will not float off and I'm kind of boggled as to why. Because it works fine IF the Array sort part is outside this function, I'm wondering whether, when the for loop at the bottom starts running, the Array is still being sorted and that's why some balloons get left behind.

I am kind of new to javascript/html5. normally I would do that kind of stuff inside flash/as3. but since the iPad doesn't support that I need to switch the horse...I want to build a website where words are floating in position and size and if the mouse comes over one word it should draw some lines to all the other words. are there any frameworks one could use? the whole should look like a tag cloud with lines between the tags.

In summary, I have an image scroller that loads a series of thumbnails defined in an XML file. All of the image load and begin scrolling. When I rollover the scroller, the scrolling stops then resumes again when I roll out.My problem: In addition to a mouseover pausing the scroller, I would like to be able to load text from another XML node based on which thumbnail the mouse is currently over.My question: How do I keep track of which thumbnail the mouse is over? Do I need to create an additional array to keep track of the thumbs or is there a simpler way to do this?

like photoshop cs3 has, flash cs4 also... and probably some others...
a textfield which acts like a button and when you press and hold down the mouse and move up or right the value increases and when you move down or left value decreases.
how to do this the most efficiently... on a mouse_down how would I track where the mouse is moving and how much it has moved in what direction so i can ajust the value in the textfield?

I have a small box in my flash movie, which should move vertically, when the mouse moves vertically. It should basically track the Y coordinates from the mouse. Also it should track even when the mouse isn't over the box.

I know we can track when the mouse has left the stage area in AS3.
But, can it reset a button that would have stayed in its "on" state?
My swf will be embedded in a web page, there are 24 buttons all around its border, and as soon as the mouse leaves the stage, they stay "on", so I want to reset them to the initial state.

I am trying to track mouse location on the stage in a swf file with Action script. I found properties that appear to have x and y location, stageX and stageY as well as localX and localY. But I am getting compiler errors to the effect of attempt to access possibly undefined property: as follows: 1119: Access of possibly undefined property stageX through a reference with static type Class.

I was wondering if there was a way using actionscript to set a larger target area for the mouse_over even, i.e. if the mouse is not necessarily over an object, but is maybe 20 px away from it could i trigger a mouse_over event?My other idea would be to create a movie clip that follows the mouse everywhere but to be honest Im not too sure about this. I don't know how to track the coordinates of the mouse.

I have a container Canvas named "cnvList" which contains another component horizontal list "hlist". When i hover the mouse over "cnvList", it should display the current mouse position relative to the container cnvList. I have used cnvList.contentMouseX for this. But it should repeatedly track the mouse position repeatedly even when the mouse is not movedk. Can anyone suggest me with code how it can be done?

I've bought a photo gallery flash template. It's easy to change the photos at this template, just need to put them into gallery folder. But what I need is when the user put the mouse over the other photo "before" version of the photo will pop up. I read this is called mouse roll over or something like this. My question is how can I do it and where should I do it?

I am loading the .png image files on my stage and i have mouse_over and Mouse_out effects on that, now this .pngfiles has little drop shadows on sides - when i mouse over it - it scales a little bit,but when i mouse over on edges - it acts wired, it countinuously detects mouse over aand mouse out like 100 times in 1 sec, if i move mouse from edges to little center then it works fine,

I'm trying to do an animation in which 4 images will fade from one to the other. The problem is that they need to fade on a button command as opposed to a timed base. Meaning... there will be four buttons on top of the images, pretty much like onbut instead of the images going away and then having the new one come in, they have to fade from one to the other. Since the user can go from one to the next randomly, the image that's displaying has to fade out and the image whose number the user clicked has to fade in on top.

I'm currently working on a portfolio-website in Flash CS5. Everything is good so far,but my only problem is the image gallary. My idea is that when the visitor moves the mouse over one of the images, a hover effect will activate - which is does. The only problem now is that I can't get the images to show in a big format when you click on each of them, for a better view of the image.[URL]..

I want to dynamically create and put some Image (mx.controls.Image) objects on a Canvas and I want them then to be able to be repositioned by the user via the mouse. Can this be done? Note, I am not looking for drag and drop. I just want to change the X and Y coordinates of Images with the mouse.

I am using Flash CS4 and AS3 and I found this tutorial to build an image uploader with the option for the user to use scribbles to add to the image they upload. Here is the working example I have [URL] is there a way to make the scribbles turn to bring up images like diffrent hair styles the users can apply to their pictures and save or should I try another way of doing this. I have found any tutorials that have been what I want to do with this.

I am using a loader (Loader.loadBytes()) to load multiple jpeg images (motion jpeg)continually whenever a new jpeg image is ready. However, when the mouse is moving over the loader, it seems to repaint everything including the background and causes the flashing. Is there a way to prevent this from happening without using the double-buffer concept? Is there way to stop repainting the background?
Is the problem caused by the images loading or mouse over? When the mouse is not moving over the loader, everything looks fine. However, when only a image is loaded by the loader, I think the display won't be flashing even though you move the mouse over it.

I'm a complete newbie to AS3 but I've recently been thrown in at the deep end I'm trying to teach myself (I'm a designer mainly, for my sins!).
I'm putting together a UI which includes a demo frame whereby I want to load a speech bubble image if the user hovers the mouse over a particular button.
I've bought various reference books and browsed through the forums, but I can't find any examples of how to do this (seemingly) simple task. I've found some examples of drawing a rectangle and other methods, but nothing for loading/unloading images.[code]...

I have been searching posts for the last few days and I can't seem to narrow down my particular issue. I see lots of posts and threads related to swap depths but I can't seem to get it to work. I assume swap depths are what I need to do but I want to run the idea by you all. i've got a main home page in flash coded in AS2 that first loads up 8 thumbnails when you click on one it goes into fullscreen mode and loads images dynamically side by side that you can pan through with your mouse.the problem is is that i am using the setBackground(); and it is not scaling the Loader components inside my movie clip correctly initially, it is scaling them down yet when i resize the window it scales them perfectly.Here is my AS to scale:

I have an image and I want to add "hot spots" so when the user rolls over the area they get 3-4 boxes that pop up to display pictures or what ever. So far I can't figure out how to change th hit area once its expanded so the hit area would be small then expand with the boxes, then rolling outside the picture areas it would close.

I'm trying to embed Flash movie (MP3 player) to HTML using SWFObject. The SWF is 30px high but when you roll over some elements, the height can go up to 100px because some elements show up. What I want to do is to have div 30px high but when I roll over particular Flash elements, then the elements that should show up are not visible. I was wondering if there is a way to allow Flash to 'float out' of the div so the taller elements become visible when rolled over the Flash movie.
