ActionScript 3.0 :: Allows The User To Dissect An Image Made Of Movie Clips?
Apr 10, 2011
I'm new to AS3 and I'm currently trying to code a project that allows the user to dissect an image made of movie clips:
Code:
var rightniptime:Timer = new Timer(100, 6);
function rightnipfall(event:TimerEvent): void {
rightnip_mc.y+=100;[code].....
I have literally duplicated this bit of code for the sixty movieclips that comprise this image. This would be fine, but I need another image (again, comprised of about sixty movieclips) to appear, and have the same functionality as the first, once the pieces of the first image have left the stage.I have been reading articles about classes, creating classes; my teacher gave me vague advice about creating a number that increments as the images fall and then creating a conditional statement that would display the new image once the pieces of the first have reached a particular Y location. But at this point I'm on the verge of tears and can't seem to make it work.
I need to add 5 cubes made from container movie clips to the stage. So far I have added the container movie clips to the stage, given them instance names and then referenced them in code from there. e.g.
(cubes.cubef is the function for creating the cube from the container movie clip)So I was wandering if I could dynamically and add the clips to the stage from the library by just using code. I have tried this so far:
ActionScript Code: for (var i:int = 0; i<5; i++) { var cub:MovieClip = new cube_mc;
[code]....
From that code, I get this error:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at cubes$/traverseParents() at cubes$/cubef() at rota_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()
EDIT: I have solved this. I used an array for storing the instances then refer to it.
ActionScript Code: var cubeArray:Array = new Array(); for (var i:int = 0; i<5; i++) {
'i am doing a game for children where users can drag and drop resize and scale movie clips on stage! The drag and drop is not an issue...however im not quite sure how to do all the rest... is there a way or a tutorial to do this?
I made a flash animation (click here) and I put a preloader made by an user by drag'n'drop. So all works ok but after animation if I refresh the page (by F5) preloader loops without load nothing!
i want to make a tour for my website there are 2 applications the first one in the site (this app made by Action script)and the second one in the server the last one made by C# store where the user reach last.
I have a Card Class which corresponds to a MovieClip from my Library. Inside that MovieClip, I have placed some TextFields and a MovieClip, manually, not via code. But when I try to instance a Card, it crashes and say "ReferenceError: Error #1056: Cannot create property back_mc on core.Card."
First of all, I'm not trying to create anything, I'm trying to declare stuffs for further use. This would work in AS2. When extending MovieClip with ActionScript, am I supposed to build every member via code? Can I not benefit from the wysiwyg editor???
note: ClientObject extends MovieClip for those who wonder :-)
I'm shwoing a step by step process on how I did a photoshop piece, and I want to have a simple flash swf that goes through each of the screenshots at the viewer's pace, by them clicking. I wasn't even thinking so complicated as to include forward/back buttons, even just somethign so simple as having the entire image clickable to move 'forward' and when it gets to the end it just loops or something. super simple, i would do an animaged gif but i want it to be at the user's own pace. but if you think of how an animated gif cycles that's how simple i want it to be. also a few of fading/dissolivng between the images would be cool.
it seems the only way to export with actionscript animation intact is to export as a Quicktime file, I decided to try something and it worked. I made the frames-per-second go from 30 down to 1. It took a looong time to export at 1fps but once it did, I loaded it into Premiere and adjusted the Speed/Duration, putting the speed at 3000 (30*100) and it looks very smooth. Not the neatest way to do things but it works, so I'm happyI guess the proper terminology for what I am looking for is to export as a PNG sequence with actionscript animation.In Flash CS5 after attempting to export to a Quicktime .mov file and it turning out extremely choppy no matter what (I tried things from here and here) until somewhere I found someone saying they always export as an image sequence.I could export as an image sequence so there would be no choppiness, then just import it into a video editing software.
That was until I noticed that the vcam I am using wasn't working in the finished product. The movie clips wouldn't animate, it would just be stuck on the first frame. Masks were also not working correctly (although this may not be an issue if I just lock the layers before exporting, not sure). So basically, I can't export in Quicktime - which does export with vcam, masks, and motion clips - because it's too slow and choppy, and I can't export as an image sequence (even though it wouldn't be choppy) because it doesn't export with all the things mentioned.So what do I do now? How can I export this with movie clips, vcam, etc. without it being slow and choppy!? Can I get vcam, movie clips, and masks to export in an image sequence?
I'd like to control a movie clips current frame by another movie clips action script.I realise the following controls the outside (root) frame time line:
on(release){ _root.gotoAndStop(1); }
but I'm not sure how to apply that to my other movie clip. I'm guessing it would be something like this:
I am designing a xmas advent caledar. I want to create a sticker/peel off effect when the user clicks on an area of the image/movie?On click a window will peel off like a sticker.
As most of you don't know, I've been creating an rpg game. And, after several tries of art making, etc, I have finally moved back into coding the game. And now, I'm stuck on the equipment system idea. At first, I thought I would just place a bunch of goToAndStop's for each movie clip to go to a frame that has that certain armor piece. This was my first idea for an equipment system. However, after doing some research, and realizing how much lines of code could be saved, I started looking into simply adding and removing movie clips from the character as my new equipment system idea. Now.... on to the problem.
Basic want/ overall achievement wanted: Create an equipment system, which will basically attach movie clips (items) onto characters, which themselves will already be attached movie clips on the stage.
Problem: What is the exact code to do this? And Is there a better way to do this for an equipment system (a less laggy or more efficient way perhaps that I'm not seeing; Check the code below to get a better idea of what I'm talking about)?
Part of the code (or basic idea of code; see comments for extra details
code: //Don't worry I have an OnEnterFrame function here; //attachedObj= the character; figure= the MC name of the character; attachedObj = attachMovie("figure", "figure"+1, 1);
I have multiple movie clips on stage (all in separate layers, of course) as well as buttons on stage to play each movie clip. There are buttons inside each movie clip. The problem is that the buttons inside the top layered movie clip work, but the others in the movie clips below don't.
How do I code for a "Return or Enter" keystoke made by the user? wordinput1_txt is a multiline with wrap on input textbox. When submit_btn is pressed it should then make tick_mc or cross_mc visible drepending if the inputed text (Blue Chair Two) was correct. When testing, only cross_mc is made visible even when the inputed text is correct. This works fine when using a single line input text box and the user doesn't do a return or the text wrappping. I'm asking this now 'cos later in the project there will be a test with upto four lines of text for the user to input.
How would one go about masking movie clips that are nested within other movie clips?
I have a photo gallery slider type of thingy that loads jpegs with loadMovie into containers. I can mask the entire movie clip but as for the containers,...well I just dont know whats going on here.
1. I would like to be able to delete one by one the new movie clips
2. I would like to move them all together.... First you press the word green and then click in the blue area.... A green cyrcle will appear.. Click the word green again and then in the blue square and a new green cyrcle will appear. I would like to move the cyrcles with the buttons arrownd the blue square... And when I press delete I would like to delete any cycle I choose... The flash is too large to attach it to the forum, if anyone is interested I can send it by mail.
I am making a signature, which is a Interactive drawing board! For and example download the : .fla .swf What I want to be able to do is let other users draw an image on my sig and then be able to save and alter over my orignal sig. And then once my the page is refresh or some-else looks at my sig it will have the image over my sig
Anyone let me know wether if pixel calculations are made swf files and when they r made to fullscreen wether they will remain the same in any monitor size?
I want to make an image viewer using flash.....I should select a source folder and the preview of the images in that particular folder should be viewed in one portion of the image viewer... and if I select the preview of any particular image, it will be shown in the right side in some predefined size..is it possible to make such an image viewer using Flash?

I made a panel movie with required designs which can be used as several pages in flash document. This is the basic design for all pages. Now, I would like to make changes in pages according to their subject. But when I make any change in one page the other pages are automatically changed.
Here's what I'm trying to do (in example form): I have a movie clip called "dude". Dude is animated to walk around, then drop a cigar (all inside the movie clip). But the problem is, dude moves, so if you try and move dude as the cigar is dropping, the cigar moves with him. So what I want to do is create a new movie clip instance called "cigar" OUTSIDE of the movie clip dude right as he's dropping it, so that you can move him without moving the cigar. Get it? I've attached another helpful animation to explain.
What I have right now is, on the 13th frame of dude, a few lines of code that create and place an instance of cigar. In that frame I also have an invisible instance of cigar for me to duplicate. Inside of the cigar movie clip is the animation that makes it fall to the ground. I need to change that code so that the instance of cigar is created outside of the movie clip dude. Here's the code I have now (inside of dude, on frame 13):
