I create a movieclip button, and I want to change main timeline from it. what should I do ?
Is it useful to use MovieClip(root).gotoAndPlay(Is there any other way to change main timeline?
I was wondering if it's possible to change the frame of a movieclip (present on the stage) by going on a certain frame or clicking a button in the main movie, if you get what I mean. Let's just say I want to go to frame 2 in movieclip "Symbol". Also, would it be possible to do the opposite and go to a frame in the main movie from a movieclip?

I have an animation (movieclipX) on frame 2 of main timeline. At the end of movieclipX I'd like the main timeline to move to the next frame, frame 3. How can I do this??Sorry if this is an easy question, I'm in the process of learning.

View 7 RepliesI have a movieclip inside the OVER on a button, right now I have an animation that causes the button's brightness increases from 0 to 10 over 24 frames and then come stops because of a stop (). I now intend to add an animation after stop () which gets the button's brightness goes back to 0 again when you no longer hold the mouse over the button. I would therefore like to make some kind of mouseOut event that allows Movieclip go to the next frame. I have tried to insert a target path but it seems that it can't reach the movie clip inside the button.

I dragged the Movie Clip to the main stage and tested the movie/ My goal is to have the button start the animation inside the Movie Clips timeline but it is not working.The Movie Clip instance is named 'film_mc' and the button inside it is named 'first_btn.' The frame is labeled 'one'. I tried these two Action Scripts that I put on the main timeline. Where am I going wrong?

I'm having a bit of a hard time with calling a function in the main timeline through a button in a movieclip. The mc is in the main timeline and in it I added a button with this.removeMovieClip(); and so far it works, but when I try to call a function from the main timeline it just doesn't seem to work.

ive made a simple game for a uni project, when you get game over a movieclip comes up and inside the movie clip there is a button to restart the game. how to i code the button inside the movieclip to gotoAndPlay to frame 1 on the main timeline?

What do I have to do to get the button to work? I view the swf and there is no active button.

On the main stage I have a button that I have made invisible once the file is loaded. Inside a movieclip I have on frame 15 the following actionscript 3 code
button_mc.visible = true;
I want the button to become visible at the end of this movieclip. I am not using an external as3 file, I am putting the as3 code in its own layer on the first frame.
I know it has something to do with the path to the button, but I cannot figure it out. If there is anyone who can point me in the right direction for referencing instances by instance name that reside on the main satge from inside a movieclip
I had a movieclip which contained a button in it exported as "mc". Then I attach this movie clip onto the stage using: _root.attachMovie("mc", "link1", 1); But i couldn't find it with AS. I mean, how can i refer to the button inside the movieclip after I attach it onto the stage using attachMovie?

I have a textField inside a mc. When you roll over an event is triggered. In the fuction I can do this:

And the text changes - so its being targeted. I want to change the format of the text so I thought.

But, its doesn't work.

I have an AS2 .fla with all of my stage items on the timeline as opposed to inside a container swf. I must chose Center vertical and Horizontal options in the HTML alignment options when publishing in order for my movie to be perfectly centered in the middle of the browser. I would like to have a FULL Browser Background Image, however when I try using the following code, my background ("bg") does not fill the entire browser.
what I am doing wrong and if it is even possible to have a full browser background image while still using CENTER alignment in the HTML publish settings? I have tried the following code with and without the Stage align settings and with the xy coordinates centered-still no luck!

I have a movieClip in the library with the linkage Class name as "LinkClass". I can make it appear on the stage, but there's a dynamic text box inside that is called "linkText" that I can't seem to get working. Here's the code:

I cant get this working with AS3. How is the correct way to do that inside a MovieClip with AS3?
I'm inside the movieclip called 'infopanel', and in its timeline im trying to allow it to be moved up when an identically sized box (also inside the infopanel movieclip) is rolled over. That code works perfectly fine it's just that if I animate MC1 and MC2 within MC it doesn't work I would have to group those 2 into a seperate movieclip called MC3 in order for the animation to work. I mean it's great I found a way around it but is there anyway to NOT have to have that MC3 in order for the animation to work? Because working with so many Movieclips can get so annoying this is my hierarchy.

It's looking like you can't apply a color change AND animate an object.
On the stage I have a movieclip called mc_back. I also have a movieclip on the stage called mc_content. Now, inside mc_content I have a bunch of code and some of it adds, or should add, an EventListener to mc_back as well as a a function that works when mc_back is pressed.
So basically, all code is written inside mc_content and some of it needs to interact with mc_back.
how to target mc_back from inside mc_content. Using stage.mc_back or root.mc_back doesn't work and Google should be my friend, but in this particular problem, it's acting more like my enemy.
