I have many text elements in my flash file - how do I modify the text to make it all caps? Is there an easy way where I can select all of them in one go and make them all caps?

An input text box you type into and then a dynamic text box that shows whatever you wrote in the Input box in a different font.I want the output box to be in all caps.I've done some searching and it looks like there is some AS2 for this:textOutput. writtentext.text.toUpperCase();
Where: textOutput is the instance name of the output dynamic box writtentext is a variable that gets passed But it doesn't work. How can I get this UpperCase thing to work?

I want to search and replace specific text in a HTML file (about 10k - so quite a lot of text). I was thinking of trying to get Flash to do this for me. I wasn't sure how good Actionscripts text manipulation was! The only reason why I was think of doing this in Flash was because I don't know VB. I would otherwise do it in Perl if Actionscript is no good.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to modify the text of a Label component that I already placed on the stage in as3. I'm having trouble getting the text to change though, it just stays the same based on the initial text I typed in. I'd like to eventually have the label contents change dynamically. When I compile the swf, the two labels have the original value I gave them when I put them on the stage, not the startDate and endDate values.

Looking to write some code that converts the first letter of each word in a input textbox string to Caps if not already. ie - input textbox = "lowercase input string", then on button press the function converts the input to output this: "Lowercase Input String".

2. For the life of me I can't figure out how to make text (or a button if need be) link to a specific flash frame. If you look on the site, there are a couple of spots under "What We Do" that I need clickable to take them to the Contact Us page.

1) I can't figure out how to have URL links in the text that loads.
2) How can I make the scroller refresh to allow for new text in the dynamic text area. The content changes alright, but the scroller stays in the same position and if it wasn't needed initially, the scroller disappears and doesn't return on new text.
When I create a TLF text area that is editable at runtime (which means that it can get a user input at runtime) I set the text direction to the 'right-to-left' definition in both the 'container and flow' and the 'paragraph' sections and set the language for Arabic or Hebrew at the 'locale' setting. I also set the text alignment to the 'align to start' mode. Now at runtime there's a stange thing. When I try to click with the mouse cursor on the editable TLF text-box, it's not displaying the text icon cursor and don't allow me to insert text inside.
But when I move my mouse cursor over the right side of the editable TLF text box, it change his appearance to the familiar text cursor which indicate that if you click here you will be able to insert text input inside. So my problem is how can I make it that only when I will hover over the TLF text box itself, the mouse cursor will be changed to text cursor icon and when I will hover beside its right side, it will remain at the normal cursor mode.
I have a map of the US and each state has a rollover that changes the color of the state...what i am trying to figure out is how to click on the state and have text appear to the side of the US map and have that text stay up until the user clicks on another state.

From what i've read i thought i could just double click the instance and modify in the properties but there is nowhere in the properties to change the text.

I'm copying text from a mysql table that is formatted with spaces and newlines (including spaces and newlines at the beginning of the text) into a textArea in Flex 3.5. Before the update,it worked fine. Now when AS retrieves the text from the table, it does not include the spaces and newlines at the beginning of the text.I'm using xml to retrieve the text.

Is there any way I can embed HTML in flash? I know I can do this with text boxes but is there any other way I can do it? If not I know theres is the load feature where I can load text from a text file. With the html text box editing, Can i link that to the text file?. As in when you edit the text box with html could i have the textbox's instance name equal to the text file? With this my issue is with the <a href> in one textbox, I would like when i click those it open another text file in a different text box.
Clarification: I have two text boxes in my flash file.One has current products. And the other is the description of the product they select. I would like a way to edit and change the products in the first text box without having to keep using the FLA file. Which is why i am using this code

I am new to flash but I have used motion tween before with Flash CS3. Now I need a text to decrease size and modify alpha so I wrote the text (one word), converted it to symbol (movie clip), create 2 key-frames (larger size, alpha 30% -> small size, alpha 100%) and "create motion tween" between. But it doesn't work i don't know why! This time I use Flash CS4 and I was wondering if there are some presets or something that I don't know. The arrow that suppose to appear between the frames doesn't ..only the frames change color.

(Window > Properties), select a text type from the pop‑up menu to specify the type of text field: Dynamic Text.But the thing is that I can not find where in the properties I can select the type of text field. Where can I find It?? I have my properties panel on the right side and not at the bottom of the page.

If I copy the html and try to save as a .txt file it will only allow to be saved as .rtfis there a way to preserve all the font, breaks and styles from a doc saved in .rtf or can I do this in a different way.
View 2 RepliesI've got a dynamic text box on a movie clip that I'm using as a button (for a slider). To be specific, it's a movie clip on the stage that has a MOUSE_DOWN event listener applied to it. There's a circle in the movie clip and a dynamic text box in the movie clip right in the middle of the circle
The text field is set to NOT be selectable, the font is embedded, buttonMode and useHandCursor are set to true. I get a hand cursor when my cursor hits the outside of the circle, but once it hits the text field in the middle, the hand cursor goes away. how I can make the hand cursor stick? I've considered replacing the dynamic text field with a movie clip that has a timeline full of numbers, but that would be giving up.
Users can write a text, modify it (in type, color and size) and choose a picture (which is loaded through a XML-file) for an e-card, then send it to whomever they want. But when they have made the modifications, how do I save the card, and then store it in a database?
