View 1 RepliesI'm trying to make a simple music player with only one button for Play & Pause the music. What I have now is a MovieClip with:
1st Keyframe: active state for play Button
2nd Keyframe: active state for pause button
3rd Keyframe: hover state for play button
4th Keyframe: hover state for pause button
The script works OK, and play and pause the music without problems as expected.
The problem comes after the second click in the play/pause button when the alternance between two states becomes chaotic. The button never returns to the play state although the music was paused.
This is the code:
/**** Objects and Vars ****/
var AutoPlay:Boolean = false;
var isPlaying:Boolean = false;

I'm extremely new to Flash and I am making a website and want to have a single button that when pressed pauses or plays a music file. I was able to create one that works by following a tutorial that I found online but the problem is that the button is on the main timeline so as I move away from it, it stops working. I think that it would work better if I was able to make a movie clip out of the button so that it doesn't sit on the main timeline and will keep working no matter where I am on the timeline. All I need is one button that pauses and plays music when pressed. I also want to be able to have a "music on" line of text and "music off" line of text depending on whether the music is playing or not.
View 4 Replies'm extremely new to Flash and I don't really know how to code yet.. I'm making a website and want to have a single button that when pressed either plays or pauses the music file. I found a tutorial that worked but it has two buttons (one for play and one for stop). You can see the tutorial here:[URL] I'm hoping that someone can tell me how I might be able to change the code so that a single button acts as both play and pause (i.e.; If music is not playing then play, if music is playing then stop).
View 2 RepliesI used a webkit to show a flash , but now I want to add a play button and control the flash , How to do ?
View 1 RepliesMost flash video tutorials have this kind of feature,1st click pauses the video,while 2nd click resumes it.
How's that implemented in flash?
Anyone knows how i can get music for my flash game? Or maybe a website where i can make one or something?And anybody knows how i can make an intro for my flash game too? Like anybody got an tutorial for this?
View 2 Repliesthe player needs to have a play, pause, stop, volume and also needs to show the track I'm currently listening to (play list).
View 1 RepliesI have written the game. It starts at once, when running the program. EVERYTHING works in one Document Class. Now, I want to do some basic intro, for example, animated countdown before the game starts. How can I kinda pause the game? there is only one frame on the main timeline which contains the background.
View 2 RepliesI'm working on a flash gaming site, BeardedGames.com. I just recently implemented a "Panic" button that makes the entire site display: none and display: block's a iframe with a allowed in school website of the user's choice.It works well so far, but the user's flash game still runs in the background while hidden. Is there a way to pause (not reset) the game, that will work on most, if not all, flash games? It needs to be accessible from javascript (possibly just javascript, or a flash wrapper?), and it has to work in IE 6 and greater (I know... I know. Can't help it.).Failed to make it clear that the user must be able to "un-pause" their game after the unpanic button is pressed.I haven't made these games, these are already made games like linerider.
View 3 RepliesLike when pressing (not clicking!!!) the windows |X| button on the game window. Is that possible? Or will I have to write custom pause function? :S I have a very complicated program, and now I want to add PAUSE button.
View 3 RepliesI have a song inside a folder and I load it with actionscript , Is any way to make it pause ?
View 4 RepliesI would like to pause the background music as an FLV with audio plays and have the bg music restart (if possible) after the FLV stops.
The website is: iamnvjones.com and the flv movies are on "about me" and contact" page.
The way the site is setup now....when a visitor clicks "music off", it turns off the sound for the background music and FLV movie.
i have a problem with my music palyer i can't get it to just pause/mute the music. here's the code.
Code:
bgSound = new Sound();
bgSound.loadSound("ChrisBrow-RunIt.mp3",true);
playIt.enabled = false;

I downloaded a flash template and have modified it to suit our company but there is something that I can't do. When the file loads in the browser, music immediately plays and loops until you click a button to stop the music. On our video page, we have video
that we need to play that has sound in it. How do I get the background music to stop when my video plays without having to go up and stop the music manually. The videos are loaded via an external XML document and there are no buttons in the FLA file to link code to. the website is [URL]
I have a site that loads an external mp3 player. Now I want to pause the sound when the "video" button is pressed. In the mqin swf file, there is a movie clip called "MP3_Player", in that clip is the loaded mp3 player. I used this method to call the mp3 swf file.[code]Now what path/s do apply to the button in the main swf file to get the music to pause.
View 2 RepliesI have been trying to implement a feature from a game called 'Tanks' (can be found at: mathsisfun.com/games/tanks) into one of my games. This is where upon shooting and destroying the dirt with explosives, all the dirt above it, where the explosives didn't reach, falls down.I have been trying for a while to get this effect to work, but with no success. My best attempt is atta hard to explain!). Even though the particles of dirt are so much bigger, it still lags like there is no tomorrow.
View 2 RepliesAt the moment, I am attempting to make a music player that will play a specific song of my choosing. I am stuck at the part where you can pause the sound, and then play it in the same place. I have tried many things such as using the timer utilities. Right now, when I pause it, it stops, and when I press play, it plays from the beginning.
stop();
var channel:SoundChannel;
var soundCheck:Boolean = true;
var song:Sound = new Sound(new URLRequest("song.mp3"));
channel = song.play();
[Code] .....
I have an issue with my videoplayer i can't seem to fix. When the playVideo functions is called I need to pause the music player.I tried some possibilities but flash keeps giving me an error.what I need to add to pause the music player when the video player starts and let the music continue when the video player closes ?
var my_songs:XMLList;
var my_total:Number;
var my_sound:Sound;[code]....
How can I get the pause button to stop sounds and music, and the play button to start them up again? As of now, it only stops the animation, and lets the music continue.
View 1 RepliesI just need something simple, where there is only pause, play and stop buttons. I usually load the music within the flash movie and play from there, but I would like to build one where if you press play, the music loads and plays streaming on the spot. I have got a couple of more complex streaming style mp3 players but I would like to use a simplified streaming version. Any recommendations or code that I can just add to a button?
View 1 RepliesI made this music video, and now I'm trying to give is some UI controls. I have a play and replay button at the start and the end. But I want to have a pause/play button available to users all the time. I know how to do that for one object at a time, but I have around 80 layers. How do I make it so it will pause the whole video (including the music) without a billion lines of code?
View 9 RepliesI am trying to create a pause button that will pause everything on the screen including movieclips/audio. Right now I can't figure out how to pause the movieclips.
View 2 Repliesi'm trying to add background music in my game, but i don't know how to play and pause it...
View 3 RepliesI am programming a music game where there are five movieclips (acting as buttons) representing five notes of a piano. When the user clicks on each one, they play a note. I would like to know how I can program it so that if the user clicks a specific five note sequence, it will trigger an animated movieclip in the timeline.
Example:
Note_1 + Note_4 + Note_2 + Note_5 + Note_3 = Animation_movie
I am using Flash CS4 and Actionscript 3.
I'm making a game, and I'm at the point where I want to add pause and resume functionality. The main onEnterFrame is no problem, but I have a bunch of objects that have their own onEnterFrame functions. These objects also have different functions, for example one for moving, the other for exploding. So each object is in a different state. I can't use hasEventListener, because it only checks for the type of event and not which function is part of the event. Is there a way I can check which functions the ENTER_FRAME event has? If a particular object doesn't have a particular function in its ENTER_FRAME event, I don't want to put it back when I resume the game. I suppose I could have a global variable that tells each function whether or not it's paused, but that feels messy since I would need an if in every single function I have.
View 2 RepliesUsing Macromedia Flash Professional 8.
I have a website banner made in Flash. I have added a music file to it and Play and Stop buttons. I also have a Replay button to replay the banner animation once it stops.
I have put the music on a separate frame so that it will not play automatically when the banner loads. I have made the Play button direct to the frame the music is located at so that when clicked, it will go to that frame and play the music file.
The problem I am currently having is that if I click the Play button more than once, it will play the music file again on top of the current play-through.
So if I click Play, the music will play. Then if I click it again, the music will play again, but on top of the first instance of the music, so two instances of it will now be playing and it sounds horrible.
I would like to make it so that if you click Play when the music is playing, it will not play the music again until the music has stopped.
I am designing a game where it is very important that you hit notes to the beat. You could say it's a bit like Guitar Hero. The soundtrack and sound effects should match the beat of the game. This is the biggest problem I can think of: If for some reason the game lags (like if the player is on an old computer or they decide to schedule their annual DVD backup and reencryption on that day) even if it is just for a few seconds, when the computer restores to normal, the soundrack might be off. Even by being off by 1/10th of a second, it will throw the user off and basically kill the game. I have no problem using MIDI files for the game soundtrack and most sound effects, so would there be any way to time the MIDI to play correctly, avoiding lag?
View 2 RepliesI've noticed since the last few version of flash player that when your main view isn't focused on the flash game, it tends to mess the game up.How do I make it so the game automatically pauses when I switch to a new window or lose focus.
View 6 RepliesI'm implementing a pause function in a game, it stops the main game timer and then dispatches an event ("Game_Paused") to stop a second timer. Both timers stop (and start) correctly but the second one throws a null object reference error.
Here's the ActionScript Code:
private function onAddedToStage(e:Event):void{
_timerD = new Timer(100);
_timerD.start();
_timerD.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, onUpdateTime);
stage.addEventListener("Game_Paused", onPauseGame);
[Code] .....
And this is the output:
Code:
Paused Timer=null
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at com.rtr.game.UI::timer_display/onPauseGame()
at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction()
at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEvent()
at flash.display::Stage/dispatchEvent()
at com.rtr.game::Game_Timer/onKeyDown()
Paused Timer=[object Timer]
What's really confusing me is that the timer is still getting paused correctly, and the trace is showing up in the output before and after the error with two different objects.
