I am trying to create a popup tooltip for when a user goes over a movie clip but its all going wrong. Here is what i have so far

I have a parent swf and I'm loading an external swf into it. The parent swf has a menu with movie clips acting as buttons. I have the buttonMode set to true and I have a rollover effect on them. When I load the external swf and rollover something to have the tooltip pop up, sometimes it goes over the menu items on the parent swf and when that happens the buttonMode, the rollover effect don't work anymore and when I click the buttons, they no longer register a click.

I am curious as how to make the movie clip popup centered in the screen as it is now popping up in the upper left hand side of the flash movie.
I created a movie clip which plays ok. But when it ends there is a slight jump, if you will, when it goes back to frame 1 to begin playing again. Does anyone know how to make the transition unnoticeable from the last frame of a movie clip to the first frame of a movie clip?
View 4 RepliesI created a movie clip (mcPopup), deleted it from the stage, and set it to export for ActionScript. I then set up the movie to attatch the clip to the stage and then load a JPEG image into it. Now, I need to be able to let the viewer dismiss the popup, but I cannot figure out how to add an event listener to the movie clip. I tried several different ways, but the popup doesn't seem to be clickable and doesn't respond to clicks (perhaps the image is in the way?) Here is what I have for the code for the thumbnail the visitor clicks to open the popup:

How would I go about setting up a situation where, I preferably create a motion graphics piece in After Effects and turn it into an swf. The piece will ,say, have a head shot photo of someone as the background in the movie. I want to create a situation where the user can upload a head shot photo and their uploaded photo will become the new background in the piece......is this possible? I've seen sights like jibjab and oddcast where the user can superimpose themselves into silly animations .....so I'm assuming it must be possible?

I'm looking to create a flash based popup window when a button is pressed within the flash movie. Not a javascript based html window or html browser window, but a window that is in the flash movie that is entirely flash based. I looked all over the internet and can't seem to find anything on this, and can't find anything on this board either. I am new to flash and actionscripting in general. I would also like to use the Tweener external class, or the flash tween class would work too.

When the mouse is over the MC I would like to show the region name taken from regionNames[i] in a small box with black background.And when the mouse is out to fade out that tooltip.(I think I have all set with the loop and the MouseEvents)(I only need to create the tooltip for each MC).

At step four, it says to
4- Inside another Movie Clip named "Limits" place "Pads" and "Wall". Pads' instance name should be "Pads" and Wall's instance named "Border". We put the Wall and Pads inside the same Movie Clip, to use it to know when the ball collided. And we couldn't put everything together because the ball behaves different if hits the Wall instead of the Pads.
How do I create this movie clip and put the other movie clips "inside it"? Also, if anyone can find out, where do I put this movie clip? Do i put it at the same spot as the wall?

It does this fine, however I have an animation for it to play on Mouse out. So when user mouse clicks then mouse outs from the button area it plays my mouse out animation and i'm back to square one. How can i tell it to ignore the mouse out animation if the user has clicked the button?

View 1 RepliesI've got several MC's on the stage set up so that when you Mouse Over one, another MC will popup with more info. However, the MC the pops up overlaps the original MC, so if the user moves their mouse over the popup (while still remaining over the original MC), it makes the popup go into an flickering loop since the roll over/roll off events are triggered over and over again to add/remove/add/remove the popup.
How do I make it so that Flash ignores the popups if the user mouses over them? I only want the popup to disappear if the user mouses off the original MC. So even if they mouse over the popup, the popup stays until the mouse is actually off of the original MC.
EDIT: I had to set mouseEnabled to false along with mouseChildren to false. I only had mouseEnabled turned off...but the MC's inside the popup were still accepting mouse events.
I have create a simple tooltip movieclip that follows the mouse. the tooltip will popup when I hover over another movieclip, but when the tooltip is visible and I move the mouse onto the tooltip it disappears, because I have a mouse out event on the second movieclip to remove the tooltip. Is there a way to make the tooltip visible but not affect anything, such as mouse over and mouse out?

This 'popup' needs to stay up even when the user interacts with the background.I would use modal, but I need the ability to interact with the back. Just wanted to find out what the best practice is. Say I have created all the common components of my webpage, which will be the same across all pages e.g. header, footer, navbar etc. Each of these are there own individual movieclip. The only part of each webpage which changes will be the center content. Should I select all the common components movieclips, and create one movieclip out of them all? Is this common practice or should I keep them separate?

I want to be able to create a movie clip on the fly, inside another movie clip, not duplicate, but create an instance of a clip that only exists in the library. The movie clip that the new clip must be created in is going to have a loadMovie already applied to it, so anything existing in it will be removed. I need a way to insert a clip from the library into this parent mc.
I tried attachMovie() but its not seeming to work.
