Java :: SPRING: Programmatically Instantiate Classes Based On Information Passed From Flex UI?

Feb 28, 2010

Imagine the UI passes back an XMl node as such:

[Code]....

And behind the scene what it is asking that you instantiate a class as such: new Source("blooper", new Exp(4), new Erlang(4,6); The problem lies in the fact that you don't know what class you will need to processing, and you will be sent a list of these class definitions with instructions on how they can be linked to each other. I've heard that using a BeanFactoryPostProcessor might be helpful, or a property editor/convertor. However I am at a loss as to how best to use them to solve my problem.

Java :: Secure A Hybrid Spring MVC + Flex Application With Spring Security

Jun 7, 2011

I tried asking this on the Spring forums ([URL]) but did not get a response. I'm working on a web application that has an (end user) user interface built in Flex and a management user interface built using Spring MVC. I'm trying to secure both interfaces and can get each one working separately, but not together. I'm using a snapshot build of spring-flex-core 1.5.0 with Spring Security 3.1RC1 and Spring 3.1M1

[Code]...

I'm obviously missing something but while the Spring Flex documentation describes how to configure a hybrid MVC+Flex application at the servlet level it appears to only consider security from the perspective of a flex-only application.

Java :: Spring Authentication From A Flex App?

Feb 4, 2011

Some background: I have a Flex app embedded in an HTML page and am using Flex to send a soap request to my Java backend that does some authentication depending on the username and password entered in the Flex form. If I enter the correct login everything works fine and the Flex app can continue making further requests. But with an incorrect username/password, an "Authentication Required" dialog box pops up in my Browser and my Flex app won't respond with its proper handler until I click cancel. I'd like to get rid of the dialog box somehow,

Spring - Flex Blazeds Java NoSuchMethodException?

Aug 29, 2010

We have a Flex-BlazeDS-Spring-JMS application. The issue is sometimes we get a Blazeds error: NoSuchMethodException. It is not able to find the Java service. The weird issue with this it does not happen all the item...1 time it goes through and returns the result, the 2nd time it fails, 3rd time fails and so on. Also not all methods fail, only 2 method calls fail.

Java :: Does The Spring-Flex 1.5 Sample Work

Feb 8, 2011

The reference doc ( here ) tells us to download the sample application: Included in the project distribution is a collection of samples called the Spring BlazeDS Integration Test Drive. This samples project is set up to be built with Maven and then imported into Eclipse for running the application via WTP.

The samples in question, must either be spring-flex-testdrive-spring3.zip which is linked to in the document or spring-flex-testdrive-spring3.zip based on the notion that this is release 1.5.0.M1 (docs and samples).After I configure maven as described with the proper environment variable:

MAVEN_OPTS="-Xms256m -Xmx512m -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m"

I then execute (per instruction) the command to install: mvn clean install from the extracted samples directory (in my case C:spring-flex-testdrive ), I receive the following error:

C:spring-flex-testdrive>mvn clean install
[INFO] Scanning for projects...
[ERROR] The build could not read 1 project -> [Help 1]
[ERROR]

[code]....

I have managed to get a "Spring BlazeDS" application working (with Flex), but now I'm at the point where I need to implement security, and if the samples would compile and run correctly.

Flex :: How Spring Project Use Vanilla HTTPServlet Via Java

Mar 22, 2011

I'm trying to figure out the best way to leverage a vanilla HttpServlet from a Spring-Flex (with BlazeDS) project I'm working on. My team has an HttpServlet that they've used in the past (that some other team built) that processes a request given some key/value pairs passed over HTTP GET. I want to use this HttpServlet class to do the same work, but I want to call it in Java, when my Flex client invokes a method on a Service. Ideally, the class invoking the HttpServlet can use the standard @Service and @RemotingDestination annotations (see here).

So, this is the HttpServlet:
import java.io.IOException;
import java.io.OutputStreamWriter;
import java.io.PrintWriter;
import java.net.HttpURLConnection;
import java.net.URL;
[Code] .....

How to write my @Service class. I've tried going down a few different roads, but haven't had much luck. So far, I've considered and come up with secondary questions on the matter (but I've yet to work out the solution):
Do I need a @Controller for this sort of work?
Do I need a Servlet Factory?
Can the HttpServlet be a Spring managed bean, and call the ASP page another way?
(I like this idea least) Should I call the HttpServlet from Flex, and leverage logging and data the Servlet needs with a Remote Object?
The reason for my stubbornness in wanting to do this from Java is that I want to do some logging, and maybe leverage some other Singleton beans in the scope of the @Service class. However I work this out, I want to be as close to "Best Practices" as possible.

Java :: Flex BlazeDS Dashboard - Use Spring / JDBC Or Hibernate?

Nov 4, 2009

I am developing a IT Monitoring Dashboard for the company I work at. The system will primarily perform monitoring of files, databases and servers. There will be a small part of the system which will allow the users to configure static data about the system eg: file locations, server names etc...

So as the app. will be a dashboard a lot of the application will consist of publishing data to the flex client to update all the monitoring views. So there will be limited database activity ie: insert/update/deletes.

Java ::Spring MVC: RESTful Web Services + BlazeDS Integration Possible?

Oct 29, 2010

I have a Spring MVC web application which provides RESTful web services via a controller class (annotated with @Controller) which has methods mapped to specific request types and signatures via @RequestMapping annotations.I have attempted to integrate a BlazeDS service destination into the mix by 1) adding the HttpFlexSession listener to the web.xml, 2) adding the flex:message-broker and flex:remoting-destination declarations to my Spring application context configuration file, and 3) adding a generic /WEB-INF/flex/services-config.xml.

The above BlazeDS integration steps appear to have hosed my RESTful web services, in that it appears that requests are no longer being routed to the controller methods. Is it even possible to do this, i.e, to have a single web application which 1) services HTTP requests via request mapped controller methods and 2) services remote object method calls (i.e. from a Flex client) via a BlazeDS service? If so then can anyone tell me what it may be that I'm doing wrong?

Actionscript 3 :: Using AWS Elastic Beanstalk With Java / BlazeDS / Spring Application

Oct 2, 2011

Is it possible to deploy my Spring/BlazeDS/Java application to elastic beanstalk? I'm using MyEclipse and built a Java Web Project with the required jar files etc. Do you need to specifically create an AWS Java Web Project - reason I ask is the options to include the BlazeDS files aren't there - so I'm wondering if Spring / BlazeDS is even supported? By default the turnkey blazeds runs through Port 8400 - so I imagine there are some additional tasks required to configure the endpoints to work through port 80?

Java :: Implementing Role Based Authorization For Existing App In Flex

Jul 9, 2011

I have an application that is coded using Flex 3 on UI side and java @ the service layer, along with BlazeDS. Now we need to authorize the users accessing the system based on the roles that are defined for them in the database, e.g. : say a user with role guest should not be able to access Admin tab on ui and also should not be able to do any operations other than viewing the data displayed on dashboard. Also the point to note here is that roles can be created dynamically by Super users from UI. I came across this link which describes how to perform Role Based Authentication & Authorization. With this approach I need to define the roles in service-config.xml but since my roles are not pre-defined I cannot go with this.

Flex :: Event-based Interaction Between Two Custom Classes?

May 25, 2010

Application.application.addEventListener("Hello", function (data:Event):void{
// .. some actions
});

Then should be created the connection between container and it's child.

BUT, the only thing I could acheive is passing a reference to the Container in the DynamicEvent. Is there any chance that I could access the child at the event-handler function.

Java :: Open 1 File Into 5 Versions Of The Same Flex-based App Engine App Simultaneously?

Aug 11, 2011

I have an application on Google App Engine that is made of Adobe Flex [and Java] components. The app has buttons to do tasks related to the app, including an "Open" button, which allows the user to open a .XML file, which then gets converted into data/content that's displayed in the app GUI. Then I press the "Run" button and it calculates stuff related to the inputted data/content. Also, my datastore is setup using JDO. I'm using only GAE. I'm NOT using GWT.

Based on the nature of the calculations (algorithms) I'm running, I would benefit from being able to open an XML file and then click the Run button on my app simultaneously on lets say 5 different versions of my app that I have uploaded to app engine. The 5 versions would be identical.Is there a way to create, say, an HTML page where the user would provide a link to the XML file (or open/load it from their disk) to be processed, then press "Go," where then the XML file is passed to all 5 versions of my app, then "automatically presses the Run button" on each?I can do this manually at the moment by going to each version-specific URL for my app, but it takes too long. Do you have any suggestions for how I would go about setting up such a script?

EDIT: Motivation for the problem: It's not XML processing time that I'm worried about. I currently have 2 algorithms that compute the number of particular types of "special points" that exist in an inputted XML file which contains large amounts of data. The difference between the two algorithms is that the 1st searches until it finds every special point. Then it stops. The 2nd searches and stops when it finds the first special point it comes across. Using multiple instances of this 2nd algorithm, one has the potential of finding all the points faster than the 1st algorithm.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Use A Button To Filter Information Out Of A Datagrid Based On An External XML Document?

how use a button (or movieclip) to filter information out of a datagrid based on an external XML document. Java :: Example Of Inner Classes Used As An Alternative To Interfaces?

May 25, 2011

What I was told, which sparked my curiosity on this topic:Java gui classes can implement hundreds of Listeners and Callbacks and many books teach you to implement all these interfaces in your gui class. Alternatively, these aspects can be implemented in inner classes, so methods called by that listeners do not get mixed up.'d like to know how to do this in ActionScript, which doesn't have inner classes, but has private classes. But, I don't think I fully realize what inner classes are about, so I'm merely trying to wrap my head around the situation where I would use them to organize a class' methods by their usages.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Cannot Translate Some Classes To Java Equivalents

Feb 8, 2012

Is there a secret to getting AS3 objects to translate over into Java using LCDS/Blaze?I'm working on a legacy system and we are having issue communicating with the back end, specifically when we send certain custom AS3 objects over Blaze to our Java RO methods... sometimes they port over, but often they come across "the bridge" as nulls.

(Objects coming from Java to AS3 work just fine however, as do sending primitive values rather than objects.)I thought using the remote metatag [RemoteClass(alias="java.foo.bar.Snafu")] in our AS3 classes was enough for bidrirectional support, and indeed it works just fine when Java is sending AS3 Snafu objects... but when AS3 tries to send to Java it works for some classes (mostly the legacy ones) but fails for others (mostly our new classes).

The specific error we get is something like this: "Cannot convert type flex.messaging.io.amf.ASObject with remote type specified as 'null' to an instance of class com.foo.bar.model.ResultableResource".

The error to me looks like Blaze cannot find the ResultableResource java class, yet we've doublechecked that the classes that don't translate have equivalents on both sides, and indeed they look similar to the classes that are working.

Is there some external mapping or publishing trick we need to do in Java or AS3 to allow these objects to export correctly? Do they need to implement the java.Externalizable interface? Maybe they need to be added manually to some kind of manifest? Adobe docs are fuzzy on the matter and make it sound like things should just work, but they don't.
