ActionScript 1/2 :: Embedding YouTube Video In Flash - Black Bars On Playback?
Mar 17, 2011
I have successfully embedded the youtube video in my flash code with:
//create area to put youtube video on screen
this.createEmptyMovieClip("reason1_video", 10000);
reason1_video._xscale = 60; reason1_video._yscale = 60;
this.reason1_video.loadMovie("[URL]");
However, the video plays with black bars on top and bottom even though it plays without those directly from youtube: [URL]. Even if I take off the scaling, it still has the black bars. How do I get rid of them?

However, the video plays with black bars on top and bottom even though it plays without those directly from youtube: [URL]. Even if I take off the scaling, it still has the black bars. How do I get rid of them? It seems like youtube uses a different player than flash. [URL]. Click on #1 and you will see the video I am talking about.
I know this is probably an easy fix, but I can't figure it out. I have made a banner in AE 5.5 that is 800 px by 150 px, I made an swf in flash but it won't play it to the size without a black bar on the top and bottom.
How do you remove the black bars on the long side of iPhone video? I'm converting video to .flv for a Dreamweaver site, and would like to trim the black bar that runs along the long sides of the video.
I'm using a playback control that is giving me problems. The only thing that I'm using is a play/pause buttons and the time scrubber. I found this code on a website. Now, when I preview the swf, it plays fine, but when the video starts playing, the screen turns black and flash quits automatically.
This is the Error that I'm getting: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at Website10_fla::MainTimeline/updateDisplay() at flash.utils::Timer/_timerDispatch() at flash.utils::Timer/tick()
And this is my code: import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.utils.Timer; import flash.events.TimerEvent; // time to buffer for the video in sec.const BUFFER_TIME:Number = 8; // start volume when initializing player // const DEFAULT_VOLUME:Number = 0.6;
how to embed a YouTube video file in particular place of my Flash project, should I do this in action panel or in final html file. Here is exactly what I'd like to do: On this website www.aye-aye-media.com under 'Film' panel I have some movie samples, and after clicking buttons on right side I'd like to play embedded YouTube clips instead of flv.samples uploaded to my ftp. as it takes too long for customers to download them
I have noticed that mi screensaver doesn't start while I'm watching videos on YouTube.I'm using Windows 7.This is the test:Set Windows screensaver to 1 minute.Browse to YouTube and play a video longer than 1 minute; ideally much longer.Note that your screensaver doesn't come up after the specified time (1 minute).I've tested using Firefox, Chrome and IE8. My Flash Player version is 10.3. (Youtube is using flash to play the videos). The same happens whether I watch the video in full-screen or not.
I need a hulu embed video to be 620px in width, what should I set the height to so I don't get the black bars on the sides. I tried to look up aspect ratio calculators online but they all seem to ask for what aspect ratio I need, etc. I don't know what I need exactly, I just want to enter a width and get the height that will prevent those black bars. Anyone know what the height value would be?
I have been trying to embed a video from youtube into an SWF file. I have been looking at the various posts here and I found this actionscript code: System.security.allowDomain("YOUTUBE DOMAIN would go here"); System.security.loadPolicyFile("YOUTUBEDOMAIN would go here/crossdomain.xml"); this.createEmptyMovieClip("video_mc", 10000); this.video_mc.loadMovie ("I had to remove this link so I could post it normally would have the youtube link to the video file");
I created a movie instance on my stage and called it video_mc and pasted the code into a frame. When I press ctrl and enter to test the flash document I get my page as expected and the youtube video appears,however I get the following message: '*** Security Sandbox Violation *** Connection to null halted - not permitted 'I had to remove this link so I could post this on this forum -my post count is less than 50- normally would have the youtube link to the video file -- Remote SWFs may not access local files.'
I've embedded a flash object in a form, and anchored it to the 4 borders. And when I resize the window, the flash application resizes too... but it tries to keep its proportions, showing unaesthetic black bars instead of change its width/length proportion.
I have seen numerous threads talking about Adobe Media Encoder producing black bars when converting videos. Some are saying it's a bug w/ CS4, others are saying its something to do w/ non-square pixels.My dilema is, I have some .mov files created in Final Cut Pro with a 4:3 aspect in NTSC. I need to convert them to .flv so I can stream them on a website. My current settings are:
FLV - Web Large, PAL Source (I'm using PAL because it seemed to create a better quality video when I was streaming)
Export Video Export Audio On2 Codec[code]....
When I export the files and try to play them in a web flash player (480x400) I get black bars on the top and bottom. I don't really have a lot of experience doing video editing so I'm shooting in the dark here.I have adjusted a lot of the pre-mentioned settings but still no luck.
Is there any way I can create a slider on my desktop to access some of the controls of the YouTube Video player like volume, pause, play, playback speed? I know it is a flash player, but would this involve accessing the YouTube API or something else? For example, I'd like to program something similar to what's provided by the Enounce MySpeed application (control over play back speed).
I have the CS4: Design Premium. Everything is updated so the encoder is at verson 4.2.0.006.Now when I have some video dont for NTSC TV 720x480 (left) and I rendered (right) it using the same as source preset (9.0 or higher) and I get this big black bar on the right side of my video. I've played with the settings and resizing the video and I always get these black bars, usualy on the right and bottom of my video.I can go back to using CS3 to render my videos but they dont look as good, but I dont get a big black bar on them either.I cant seem to find any solutions with this when I do a google search.How do I get rid of these black bars?
The client complains that sometimes on initial load, the jwplayer will autostart playback as intended but with a black screen. Sound is alright, and the progress indicator in the transport is moving.No matter what I do, I can't recreate the error on my machine.I'm using version 5 of JWPlayer.
Here is the code i use to embed: <script type="text/javascript" src="/Frontend/Javascript/swfobject.js"></script> <div id="mediaspace"><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
I am not able to get youtube movies to play in Flash MX 2004 when embedded. The error I get is: *** Security Sandbox Violation *** SecurityDomain '[URL]' tried to access incompatible context '[URL]' I have tries adding the suggested codes (gathered from this forum) relating to security domain and policy files but nothing seems to work. I have read that it may be because the testing (of the SWF) is not being done on a website but locally - on my machine's HD' - but this must also be possible to workaround?
I want to watch videos from YouTube at a faster playback rate. A while back I asked if there is a utility that can speed up video playback. The only thing that was mentioned was some closed source project for Windows. I'm not a fan of either Windows or closed source.
Another answer mentioned that you can download videos from YouTube and play them back. Unfortunately, this no longer seems to work. I tried several Firefox addons and they all fail to download. So, now I think I need to build something myself. I see two options:
Create an addon to Firefox that allows me to change the playback speed of the video as it is playing. Find an open source code alternative to Adobe's flash player and update the source code to have a variable rate of playback of sound and video.

by following a tutorial on [URL], I was able to display a youtube video in flash, but the problem is that the video doesn't have a control menu. Just wondering if there is a way to make one, either it is customized or some default menu provided by youtube or flash.
In my CS4 flash document I have created a media gallery. It's a very simple interface that has mouse overs on thumbnail pictures, and then the larger picture will fadeUP in the center of the document. (With use of framelabels in the timeline).
In the same document, I want the user to be able to click on a video thumbnail, and that video plays back in the center of the document. Several questions: If the user clicks on the thumbnail "onrelease," the time line goes to the player, is it possible to stream this video from a youtube clip into my media player on the screen? If not and I have the document in a fl4 format, is there a simple process to have this video open? (I currently do not have the document in fl4 format).
I want to be able to embed a youtube video into a movie clip on stage, and be able to edit which video is embedded via XML. This functionality is needed by my client so they don't have to open the thing in Flash.
So far I've managed to embed a video with this AS code:
[Code]...
This works great, however obviously in order to change the video you have to open Flash and edit the AS. I have some experience with XML, however I don't know where to start in terms of embedding a youtube vid.
P.S I've had to change the URLs in the post as I'm not allowed to post links on this forum yet.
I am using Flash Professional 8 and Dreamweaver 8 to maintain a website. I have just started using flash to show video highlights from high school football games which I record. Using iMovie I export the video as quicktime file and then import to flash to convert to a flash video file to post on the web site. The video coming out of iMovie has very good contrast and the quicktime movie has the same good contrast. When looking at the file in Flash the contrast changes dramatically. I becomes washed out. I am using Max OX 10.6 operating system.
The website that I built, I used Adobe media encoder and flash to make it a .flv file, the website works fine as far as playing the pages with video in Safari and Firefox, when I go to the same website in internet explorer the video plays with a big black border each of my video's, why would that be ?
I was making a player which calls videos from youtube and displays it in my flash playback component. The script loads the videos fine but when i want the flash to load the same video ID from an external XML data source, it loads the youtube player API but not the video. Here is the code
Security.allowDomain("www.youtube.com"); Security.allowDomain("*"); var my_player:Object; var my_loader:Loader = new Loader(); my_loader.load(new URLRequest("[URL]")); [Code] .....
This script loads the video from youtube.com with an specific ID which i have defined at my_player.cueVideoById("53OyPYa7SEI",0) Later I defined and XML file called "videos.xml" where I passed the youtube link and tried to call the video from that xml file in flash. But the problem comes there. Here is the xml code <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?> <videos> <VIDEO url="[URL]" id=1/> <VIDEO url="[URL]" id=2/> </videos> How to call the video from an XML file?
In the cosmicpanda update for youtube, you can go from a video page to the video creators profile page while your video is still playing in flash. Does anyone how Youtube accomplishes this? I would like to know if it's possible to keep the flash state of a site constant while moving from page to page on a site.It doesn't seem as if the flash is reloading, so I don't think that they are just saving cookies for the current video time and starting the video at that point when they refresh.I would assume that they're using ajax, but the application of this feature is really clean. The URL gets correctly changed to the users' profile page's URL. The back button still works as it should. (I can press back and forward between video page and user profile page and the video continues going clean and never drops.)
I am still new to AS. Looking for a detailed tutorial/explanation on adding/embeding a youtube video to flash. If anybody has a descent example that would work too. Also i would like the youtube video to play in the flash file.
I have this actionscript on one layer and created the the movieMC and closeMC. I have then put movieMC on one layer and actionscript on another.However this does not work, where am I going wrong, is there another way to do this.
