ActionScript 1/2 :: Hitting ENTER In A DataGrid Editable Cell?

Here's a question for you. I have a dataGrid that I want to be able to edit only when the user clicks on a particular button. When this happens, I make the dataGrid editable and I make that particular column editable. After the user modifies the cell's content and hits ENTER, I want the edit cell to close and the dataGrid to once again become non editable. Here's the code in my Key.onKeyUp listeneif(Key.getCode() == Key.ESCAPE || Key.getCode() == Key.ENTER){ my_dg.getColumnAt(2).editable = false; my_dg.editable = false;}If the user hits ESC, the edit box closes correctly. If he hits the ENTER key, the edit box remains visible until he hits ENTER once more. Only then does it disappear

I am currently working on making my Flex application accessible. I have an mx DataGrid that I am using for showing complex data. Each row contains information about a person and one of the columns contains a button to "submit" that person's information. Currently if I tab to the DataGrid, it has focus on the whole thing, but I cannot tab to individual cells. For accessibility purposes, I need the user to be able to tab to each of these cells to read the information. Everywhere I've looked I've found that it seems the only way to focus on an individual cell is to set the editable property to true. However, I do not want to make the field editable, as that information should not be changed.
At the very least I would like to be able to tab to the cell that has the button ItemRendender for each person. I could set the rest of the information in the accessibilityName of that. Is there any way to accomplish this? Or am I going to have to find a more "creative" solution?

i have managed to create a pswd protected flash animation which is working good when the pswd is given and by clicking the submit btn. What I want is, instead of clicking the btn, i want it work when i hit the enter key.

When the user hits enter, their input is to be compared to an existing input, then stored if there is no match. The problem is, the file is storing the "enter" key as well, so the database input looks like this:

I am working on a problem since a week soon, but I still couldn't make it work as expected. I have a DataGrid which has HBox with a CheckBox an a Label as itemRenderer (see Code below). When I tap in to the Cell the standard itemEditor pops up and lets you enter the content of the label. Thats the standard behavior. I works fine except for 2 problems:
If I enter to much text, the horizontal srollbar pops up, and the cell is filled with that scrollbar. As you see I tried to set the horizontalScrollPolicy to off, but that doesnt work at all... I tried to do that for all the different elements, but the failure is still existent. When I have filled more than one row, there is an other mistake happening. If I tap on a row, the datagrid selects the one below that row. That's only if one line is already selected. If I tap outside the datagrid and then, tap at any row the itemEditor of the right row will show up... Is there anything now wright in the setup of my set data method?

I am a Flex newbie and I am testing a little application that simulates a cart. (It is based on a nice sample by Farata Systems' Yakov Fain).Note: I am using the beta of Flash Builder 4 to code the application.Here you have a link to the screenshot:Screenshot(Sorry I can't insert the image of the screenshot right here since stackoverflow doesn't allow new users to use image tags.)The application is very simple. You type a product in the TextInput control and then click on the "Add to cart" button to add it to the "cart" which is represented by the TextArea at the bottom.
That works ok.The problem is that I also want the user to be able to keep adding items to the cart without having to click on the "Add to cart" button. So, I added code to handle the enter event of the Textput by calling the same handler function triggered by the "Add to cart" Click event.If you type some content and then click the "Add to cart" button, the TextInput control receives the focus and the cursor, so you can type again.
However, if you hit enter, instead of clicking the button, the TextInput control keeps focused and you can see the cursor beam, but you can not enter text until you click elsewhere and come back to the control.Below you can see the relevant part of the code, with the definition of the component that groups the three controls at the top (Label, TextInput, Button).

I have a search input textfield on stage that searches my list component...there is no search button, instead the search is performed 1 second after the user stops typing...(this is done with a key listener)...however the input focus gets stuck in the textfield if you type something (anything) and hit the enter key multiple times...I hit it like 5-10 real quick....then I tried to click my address bar in the browser, and I am unable to type a new URL...it just continues to type in the input text field on screen..

I have a possible bug for datagrid in cs4 (as3). The scenario involves having horizontal scrolling, good number of columns and editable columns.
The following codes basically layout that particular scenario.
The bug is the edibility of columns on the far right. If you click on them to try to edit them, another column on the left of it would become editable instead.

I realize that ItemFocusIn is somehow only applicable to editable datagrids in flex,nevertheless I want to fire an event anytime the user selects a new row in a non-editable datagrid. I have successfully used the CLICK event, but this event is not fired when the user uses the keyboard to select a different row in the datagrid. What do I have to do to cause an event to fire whenever the currently highlighted row in the datagrid changes, regardless of weather it was changed by the mouse or by the keyboard?

All i have a flex editable datagrid. By default if i press the left navigation arrow key , it moves to the left but not to the next cell. I would like to override the keydown event such that if the left navigation arrow key is pressed down i set the focus to the next cell on the left.
In short the user needs to be able to navigate using the keyboard through the cells using just like in excel(currently the arrow keys move between characters within a cell).

When I test a flash file by hitting "ctrl+Enter" it creates a .swf in same directory as my .fla. does the resulting .swf file actually use the selected publish settings of my .fla file? Or when creating an .swf by "ctrl+enter" does it only use a "default" setting?

I'm using a Flex datagrid where only 1 rowItem is editable. All the other row items are non editable. When I edit the value of the row, and press ENTER or TAB the focus is send to the next editable item in the datagrid. In this case the editable field on the next datagrid row.
I don't want this standard behaviour... I don't want the focus to be processed to the next editable item. Since the data is saved instant, it's quite strange that the focus is given to the next field. The focus has to be remained on the item that was edited.

I have an editable datagrid. If sorting is applied by clicking any header of datagrid, it works fine. But after that, if data values are changed in any row of datagrid, sorting is applied automatically. How to prevent from this behaviour? i.e. sorting should only be applied if user clicks on any header of datagrid and sorting should not be applied when user modifies data in grid.

I have an advanced datagrid, but I want users to allow to copy some lines they want. when I use the property editable they are allowed to select the text they need, but they also are allowed to edit this. How can I prevent that?
I want users to be able to select any text in the datagrid, but they are not allowed to change the value of the grid. They should only be allowed to select and copy (ctrl + c).

I am currently trying to disable the selectable / editable / or change the textInput to dynamic to get my desired result.I've got a custom datagrid with dropdowns and text input areas. However, if there is no data in my Model # column, I do not want to allow for any entry in the corresponding PurchasePrice cell.

I am using a datagrid in flex and need to render each cell with a different style.What could be the best way to set a style to a perticular cell in datagrid/advanced datagrid (flex)?
I think one possible option can be extend the datagrid and override the drawRowBackgroungd function. Apart from this can i use some custom item renderer or some property similar to label function of a series, there it used to return label here we need a style.

I have created a datagrid with 2 columns. The first one is the normal text data and the second column contains buttons for each cell. What I want to do is retrieve the text information when the corresponding button on the same row is clicked. How do I get this information? I am unable to use selectedItem because I do not want to select the correct row before pressing the button.

Have tried to figure out how this can be done - use this simple code to populate a datagrid with XML data in this format. What i want is a datagrid that will function as a gantt chart - with 2 different colors - just thought this might be a way to solve it. In the final XML there will be more than the 2 columns!

I have an editable datagrid with a dataprovider which is basically Numbers. Is it possible to delete a value? When I do it it puts a 0 in that cell but I really need an empty value, like a Null or a NaN whose are going to be cleaned later with a labelFunction. BTW I also need the cells to keep the 0 if needed to.

For a long while now (way too long) I've being searching fora decent example for using components such as a checkbox orcombobox inside of a datagrid.The only examples that i could find where all AS2 examples.The closest thing I find to an AS3 example for adding checkboxes,buttons etc to a datagrid was here but it is in no way clear how to alter the example for othercomponents.

It loads and runs fine.I need to change the values of the dataGrid cells when the user presses the buttons. For example, if a cell row 0, column 0 has a value of 51, it needs to change to 45-88 when the user presses a button.
