ActionScript 2.0 :: Duplicating A Movie Clip With Dynamic Content

I have created an application that lets the user dynamically edit the content of an online greeting. I want the application to be able to duplicate the edited greeting 4 times, so the printed page will contain 4 exact duplicates.
I tried using duplicateMovieClip, but it would not duplicate the dynamic content edited on runtime.
I was able to use attachBitmap and "capture" the screen content, only to find out the resolution of the duplicates was far from being acceptable (I guess because screen resolution is only 72 dpi, and I need it to print nicely).

I'm trying to keep a fresh copy of my loaded swf's in the loader.content while I use a copied version in my main swf. What I'm trying to do is make a slide show using a master swf to load many other slide swfs. The first time through each swf plays just fine but the second time through there can be problems with eventListeners, etc so I want to trash each slide when I'm done with it and get a fresh copy when the user wants to see it again. I've done this utilizing the cache in the browser but I'd rather use the method below.
I saw this code from: [URL] that allows you to copy movie clips so I should be able to do that with this method but I'm clueless how other then cutting and pasting code and praying that it works.

CS3 Flash - Complete newbie to Flash and I'm trying to change an existing flash piece.It consists of 4 different text statements that appear on a Black background - the first appears and stays on-screen for 10 secs, then it starts to blur and fade away in about a sec, and then the next statement appears, etc, etc., and the whole lot loops.The 4 statements appear as Video Clips (Symbols?) in the library.I need to add a new statement, which means there will be 5 statements. I duplicated one of the library items and renamed it, which seems to have worked fine... but I cannot then work out how I insert that video clip into the Timeline and still have the same visual effects and timing as the existing ones? I can insert a blank frame, but then I can only drop the new video clip text onto that one frame.I've tried copying and pasting a whole set of frames, and then go in and change the text. Which I thought had worked, but then discovered that it also changed the original frames.... now understand that's because they are just instances and any change will affect the master Video Clip!
So can anyone advise if I can insert my newly added and renamed video clip into the timeframe and create the same effect as the others?Please keep any advice as idiot-proof as possible as this is my first venture into Flash... not finding it as intuitive as I hoped, spent 6hrs to date just trying trial and error without any real success.

I have a movie clip "origblock" inside another movie clip "blocks". I'd like to duplicate origblock so that the new block is inside clip "blocks". however, when I do it, it shows up in _root. I am writing an interactive 'bingo' game which creates a bingo card with 20 boxes. In AS2 I used duplicateMovieClip and 'push'ed the duplicate into an array. I could them access each movie clip when clicked (to turn a cross on or off on the movie clip). I have a menu that loads external images as buttons and once its built I need to create multiple instances of it next to one another. Senoculars duplicateMovieClip class wont duplicate graphic information, which my menu has, so can anyone suggest an alernative method to creating this using the same instance of the set of loaded images?

I want to create another button on the main menu of my flash site. I want to take one of the existing buttons (which are set as movie clips) and modify it to show a different menu name and page link. BUT when I go into my library and "duplicate" my movie clip, change the instance name, drag it to the stage and attempt to modify it, the original changes as well. I need to keep the original the same and create a new one with the same code, frames, etc but with different static text. I keep going in circles

I am trying to create a website for my Spa but having difficulty getting reservation buttons to work with a content movie clip.I set it up in four layers (from top) AS3, Page, Content, and Background. In Page layer is where I named each page like home, about us, full body treatments, and so on. There are a total of 9 pages one of which is the reservation page. In the "full body treatment page" I place a reservation button that I want to lead to "reservation page". I have been searching for days now on how to optimize this reservation button to go to the "reservation page".

I've just start working on a project whereby the site will be entirely in flash, have a nav panel down one side, and a content panel down the other. I want some subtle animations on the content as each page is selected (either scroll or fade out) but as each page will have a different background, I'm not sure what the best way to do this is.
My current thinking, would be to put all the 'pages' in one movie clip, animated with each having a fadein, then stop, then a fade out. When a link is pressed, it would play until it encounters a 'stop' (hence, the fadeout frames), then jump to the fade in animation for the link that was clicked.With being new to Flash though, I just thought a) I'd check to see if this is the given way to do this, or if there is a better, standard way, and b) if anyone can give me any tips on coding it. I would imagine it would be onPress(function), then the two instructions?.

I have some code that vertically scrolls my movie clip "content_mc".[code]the problem is my movie clip is behind a mask and not alone on the stage so the content_mc scrolls regardless of weather the curser is over the movie clip or anywhere else on the stage.Is there a way to contain this movement to when the curser/mouse is over the "content_mc" only?URL...If you moue over the bottom right the movie clip moves and then the same over the top right, I just want it to scroll with the mouse over the "content_mc" movieclip?

I have created one mask container and i am filling it with the images from xml i.e. MovieClip(root).myContainer.forward.imageContainer .addChild(myspriteImage). I've made a flash movie which will load four movie clips at runtime. Actually, the number of movie clips will depend upon number of "NODE" in XML file. Keeping XML file thing aside, I've tried hardcoded values; 4. Let me describe you the structure very well:
There is a main empty movie clip, instance name "mc_scroll" which will be only item on stage. In this movie clip, another movie clip whose identifier name is "blueMovie" will be loaded dynamically. Inside this "blueMovie" MC, there is a button instance name is "blueButton" and inside this button there is a "Dynamic Text" field instance name is "btn_text".
Phewww.. so long chain... inshort:
mc_scroll->blueMovie->blueButton->btn_text
Now, I can load 4 or any number of "blueMovie" inside "mc_scroll". But I also want to set the button text for each button inside each MC!! I'm sure you guys are getting what I want to do. But its not working. Below is the code:

So as to make things less confusing (I had a lot of different layers), I made each scene in my animation in its own file. Now I want to put them in the same file, so I thought I could make everything in one file into a movie clip and put it into another file that way.
However, it doesn't seem to work! I can highlight everything, convert it, and paste it into the other file... but when I paste it, it only pastes the first frame of my highlighted selection! How can I convert the whole thing into a movie clip instead of just one frame?

The images are uploaded with an html form onto the server and their path names are loaded into a .txt file for my flash AS to use.The problem I am having seems to be either server lag or browser issues (catching perhaps?).I manage my content via the CMS and once returning to the flash movie it is either old content, half working or just doesn't work, period.What is interesting is that once I locate the text file and view/refresh it manually, it works 100% fine. Now, it's obviously not a very useful set up if I have to manually refresh my txt files so is there a way, (php?, Java? etc?) to refresh these files?

I have a movie that I am loading text into. The textbox is set so the text flows downward. In an ifStatement further down, I am trying to see how tall that movie is(depending on how much text goes into it) to see if I should attach a scrollbar for the movie. If I trace the hight, it tell me that the movie is 200 high, which is the size that I created the textfield in that movie. But when the text is in it, it is actually much taller. How can I get an accurate reading of how tall it is, after the text is loaded into it?

I want to do something like gotoAndPlay(frame label) for a movie clip with the instance name content. I am using an array for my buttons placing multiple instances of the button mc on the stage. When I add content.gotoAndPlay I get an access of undefined property error. If I add it inside the parenthesis I get an expecting identifier before my frame label name error.
