how to control the timeline of a movie clip which is contained within an externally loaded swf. I have a central window where images fade in and out of one another and I want the user to be able to pause the fade and play it as they This is the code I am using to load the external clip:
I'm working from main.swf and I need to call another swf to display one of four flvs once the appropriate button is clicked.
main.swf = my main content player.swf = contains mc_playMovie mc_playMovie = embedded in player.swf and contains four frames, each with a different flv movie.
I have my files set up to where a main swf has the main navigation and a container which draws each sub page into it. The sub pages have a navigation as well that was telling buttons where to go on the main movie timeline (with _level0.) I had to move my navigation down in the main swf file so i took the nav off the main timeline and put it in a movie clip so i could move all at once. Now my sub pages on external swfs with _level0.gotoAndPlay("frame"); dont work.
Is there any way to direct an external swf to play a certain frame within a movie clip in another swf?
I've tried changing _level0 to _level1, _root, _parent, _child, and using _root.mc_name.gotoAndPlay("frame"). none of which has worked.
I've designed a website for a client and it's completed but she's complaining that the music on the website is too loud. I made a button so you can turn the sound on and off, but i have no clue how to make a volume button for an external audio clip and i haven't found a single tutorial on the internet that can help me with this specific issue. Can someone help me with this and give me a step by step instruction, including any code i need.
how to activate buttons from external swf timelines?
i have this menu that loads external swfs. One of the swfs is an animation of the mouse cursor rolling over the menu. At that point i want to start one of the button animations and action.

Problem:I have my main Scene 1.In that scene I have 2 layers.Layer 1 has a movie clip named ca.Layer 2 has a movie clip named tutorial.When a button is clicked in movie clip ca I want it to tell movie clip tutorial to gotoAndPlay("31")
I was using the code: btn_ca.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,click01); function click01(e:MouseEvent):void {
I am making a game were you create movieclips with a button and move them around using a function system. The problem is, I want to control all of the same attached version of that movieclip in the code. how exactly would i do that if the instance name changes every time I load it?
I'm at the end of my flash site creation and I would like to have the "mouse_down" keyframe in my movie clip to change the frame of my other movie clip displaying the content of the page. How would I go about a gotoAndStop() function to control a movie clip from another MC?[Code]...
What is the best way or controlling one movieclip from anoither. Pretty much want my menu and contentas two separate files but of course i need to contol my content from the menu.
I'm attempting to create a website that uses externally loaded swf files into a shell animation like in Creating A Full Flash Site, only I'm trying to give each swf its own website url (ie. site.com/home, site.com/page2) while still using a single shell animation.
I press a button and have an object (a movie clip) move onto the stage - that works ok.When that movie clip gets to a certain spot, I want it to stop - that works ok.I want to be able to press the button again and have it leave the stage - that works ok.Then if I press the button again, it will come back on the stage again - that works ok.when it stops on the stage, I want a part of it to animate just once. I've been trying to do this by putting a second movie clip inside of the first, but it won't work.
I made a movieclip to put the blocks(which are movieclips too) in a breakout clone.lets give the container movieclip the instance name "container"the blocks are preset in that container with their own instance names...what I want to do is a hittest with those blocks but I found out that.[code]
so here is the thing: I have a movie clip with 12 frames (lets call him MC), each frame shows a symbol. I want to create a class that control the MC instances, (lets call that controlClass) the controlClass will have function to change the frames of the MC instance and some other stuff. last thing I tried is that you give the constructor of the controlClass the instance name of the MC and tried to do that for example: stage. + MCInstanceName + . gotoAndPlay(2); that's what I'm trying to accomplish, at least.
On my main timeline I have two movie clips sitting side by side in frame1. They are called content_mc and content_mc2. Those are their respective names in the library and as instances. Now, I have a button in content_mc in which I am looking for the following behavior. When I click it, I want the timeline inside content_mc2 to jump to frame2. MovieClip(parent).gotoAndStop(2); This code would be just dandy if I wanted to go to frame 2 of the main timeline, but I cannot find, for the life of me, how to go up one level (parent) and then specify down a new level (content_mc2). In other words, where do I put "content_mc2" in this syntax?
I am making SWFs that an interface will load and control (pause, re-start, stop, etc.).When the interface is paused, the main movie clip will pause but not it's children movie clip.Note that I didn't write the interface AS3 code. I am supplying the SWFs that are loading into the interface. The developer of the interface won't allow me to use animated movie clips in my SWFs since he can't control them with the interface. So all my animation need to be on the main timeline.Can I provide him with some AS3 code to allow the developer to control the child movie clips or is there an Event Listener scheme I could include in the child movie clips that would pause, stop, restart, etc when the main movie clip changes?
Also...in the meantime...since I currently do not have a fix at this time and since all my animations are on the main timeline, is there a way to select multiple tweened objects (movie clips and graphic on difference layers) and move or resize them across multiple keyframes?
I have a movie clip with 11 frames containing 10 different images named "thermometer". I have a dynamic text box on the root of the movie with the var name of "therm"
action script in MC "thermometer"= onEnterFrame = function() { if ((therm <= 15000) && (therm >= 0)){
I'm trying to control the exponential speed of the attached movie clip with AS but don't know where to start.I want the words to scroll through slowly at first and over 4 seconds the speed increases until they are all a blur.
I am working on a project that needs to have the swf controlled by an external javascript file, I'm looking for something very simple like basically telling the swf what frame to go to in the main timeline. I know it's possible because I did it 4 years ago, the problem is that project and computer are long gone.
I've loaded my external SWF, now I want to animate a MC within that external swf, however, when i try, the animation freezes (or won't start at all), but the external SWF DOES load.Here is my loader code
Code: var _externalMovie:MovieClip var _url1:URLRequest = new URLRequest("intro.swf")
I'm trying to figure out how this is done or if this is even do-able. here is my situation, I using AS2.0 and with that i have created a mc loader, here is the code for that
I can't find a way to control an external SWF in AS3 like I used to be able to in AS2. This used to be a real simple way (among others) in AS2:[code]Unfortunately this has been abolished in AS3 . To load a SWF externally from a separate SWF file (on a separate CPU) in AS3, you now must now use a URL request along with a load request. However, the SWF is tied into this loader object of which's class does not contain "play", "stop", "currentFrame", "nextFrame", "prevFrame", "gotoAndPlay", "gotoAndStop", etc.According to the help panel, you can target any of the loader's child's methods by virtue of calling "loader.content" but it doesn't work. When I trace my "loader.content".... all I get back that it is an [Object Main Timeline] when I would expect it to be [Object MovieClip] if it were to have the methods I need.I need to do all sorts of gotoAndStop / gotoAndPlay functionality with external SWFs on another CPU. I have a nice XML server running successfully.
i am loading an external swf in to a movie clip and controlling it by using a slider with a knob. once the onEnterFrame is encountered the swf starts to play. This can be paused. But after pause the knob cannot be moved by using the startDrag().
I have a flash website in development and I'm using external .swf files for the sub pages. In my main.swf file I have a loading function that works and everything is fine and dandy there. My problem is that when I am loading the external "content" swf files into my main swf file, the actionscript that is embedded in my external .swf is not functional (there are buttons in the content swf with event listeners to control them). I have a movie clip holder set up and placed on my stage in the main swf file and that is what I am adding the content swf's to.
Now in all of my attempts to isolate the problem I have noticed one thing. If I add the external "content" swf directly to the stage of my main swf file, the code works, but if I add it to my container mc (which I have basically set up to control the position that the content is loaded to and to set up boundaries/masks to control the content from overspilling) then the code is not operational.
Code: The code below is called by my loadContent function on my main swf contentmc = MovieClip(event.target.content); // the external swf is assigned to a movie clip object addChild(contentmc); // when using this, code works in the external swf contentwindow.addChild(contentmc); // when using this, code in the external swf no longer works.
Basically when loading dynamic text... the .txt will have a simple yes or no inside of it... nothing more nothing less.I've been trying all morning to get a movie clip to begin playing if the value is "yes", and to NOT play if the value is "no"
Basically i have a movie clip on the main time line named WHM. and im loading a dynamic text file into a dynamic text field named player1whm.
I want to be able to change the text file to yes or no on a whim, and if the value is equal to yes... i want the movie clip to begin playing as soon as it loads that value into the box. If it says no then i want that movie clip to continue doing nothing.I have already been successful at getting yes or no to load into the dynamic text box... i just cant seem to get it to control the movie clip.
I've just start working on a project whereby the site will be entirely in flash, have a nav panel down one side, and a content panel down the other. I want some subtle animations on the content as each page is selected (either scroll or fade out) but as each page will have a different background, I'm not sure what the best way to do this is.
My current thinking, would be to put all the 'pages' in one movie clip, animated with each having a fadein, then stop, then a fade out. When a link is pressed, it would play until it encounters a 'stop' (hence, the fadeout frames), then jump to the fade in animation for the link that was clicked.With being new to Flash though, I just thought a) I'd check to see if this is the given way to do this, or if there is a better, standard way, and b) if anyone can give me any tips on coding it. I would imagine it would be onPress(function), then the two instructions?.
In my document I have my actionscript on Layer 1. In this I duplicate an enemy movie clip.The controls for moving the enemy are inside the enemy movie clip, so setting speed, where to start from etc.On the Layer 1, I also run a script which acts as a timer, and when it reaches set values (eg. 10 seconds) it "levels up" (basically just changes background colour). I wand this to increase the speed of the enemy movie clips so that they get faster. I have this code:
