ActionScript 2.0 :: Video Paused When Loading Via NetStream Object Within A Function
Apr 1, 2006
I'm having a problem loading an FLV file via the NetStream object.
The following is on frame 1 of my root timeline:
Code:
loadMovieClip();
function loadMovieClip():Void {
// Create new NetConnection object
[Code]....
The code is EXACTLY the same, except it isn't within a function, yet the latter example plays the video correctly, and the first example doesn't.

I notice that, when I pause the video, the event "NetStream.Buffer.Flush" is triggered. And according to the language reference: "Data has finished streaming, and the remaining buffer will be emptied.", I have to re-buffer it, right? However, also according to the reference, it shouldn't stop buffering:Starting with Flash Player 9.0.115.0, Flash Player no longer clears the buffer when NetStream.pause() is called. This behavior is called "smart pause". Before Flash Player 9.0.115.0, Flash Player waited for the buffer to fill up before resuming playback, which often caused a delay.I'm using Flash Professional to do the debugging, and the traced version number is: MAC 10,0,22,91, and the streaming server is FMS4

how to get flv's to load up dynamically using xml - it all works well apart from this one problem that i have.
when the thumbnail for the flv is clicked the preloader appears and the flv starts to load - but for some reason the audio begins to play almost immediately - then when the flv actually loads then the audio plays again whilst the initial (unwanted) audio carries on playing!
this is the script for the netstream:

Is it possible to have a same Video object ( and perhaps StageVideo) connected to multiple NetStream's objects? It's videoconferencing app, in which all members can speak ( So multiple audio sources) but should not hear themselves (that's why I don't join them in a single stream).
That's what I tried:
ns = new NetStream(nc);
ns.addEventListener(AsyncErrorEvent.ASYNC_ERROR, asyncErrorHandler);
ns.client = this;
ns.play(streamName1);
ns2 = new NetStream(nc);

The task seems easy: I am loading a video via a netsream object (could be FLV or an h264 mp4) and I would need to check if this video has audio available (otherwhise sound control objects should be disabled or become hidden).

I have this Main swf that is supposed (via buttons) load external swf's. These external swf's play single videos with code that follows ie:
var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
nc.connect(null);
var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc);
[Code]....
When this video clip has ended I want the main swf to be loaded again.

I have created a FLV video player using the AS3 flash.media.Video object (not the FLV playback component) and I am trying to listen for meta events and Cue Points embedded in the FLV video but I am not receiving any when I trace the movie. The cue points are not being created dynamically, they are in the FLV video.
Video embed code:
// Initialize net stream
nc = new NetConnection();
nc.connect (null); // Not using a media server.
[Code]....
Is there anything I am missing have wrong to capture events from my net stream?

I'm trying to attach a single NetStream Object to two separate Video objects instead of pulling redundant streams from the server. The expected behavior would be for both Video's to display the same content. However, it seems that the last video I attach the NetStream to is the only Video that will display the content.Has anyone else run into this? I'd rather not go to the inelegant steps of using BitmapData to clone pixels if I don't have to.

I have a Net Stream object that I am using to stream video from an Amazon Flash Media Streaming service.The video makes a connection and plays fine but randomly it seems to just freeze and the only way to get it to work again is to re-establish the connection. I have tried to put other videos in that amazon bucket as well and they seem to play fine. this happens when it is in .FLV form and .mp4 format.
I have set the buffer time to be 5 seconds and i watch the output of the buffer to see the % of full it is. when the problem occurs the buffer 5 goes from 100 to 0 and then it throws a Buffer fail error (i'm using OVP framework).I have come to the conclusion that it is either a video encoding problem or perhaps there is a firewall issue that blocks the data from getting through.

I DO NOT KNOW FLASH - let's just get that straight. I do not know actionscript, and I'm not familiar ith the interface. But I do know how to open a document, drag a .flv into the frame, add a playback skin, and save a swf for use on a web page.
The problem is that the videos all start playing on default. I'd like the user to have to hit the "play" button to play the video so that they are not inundated with sound when the page loads.

I just made it clear of the differences between the progressive video and streaming video *^_^* But I do need a feature of allowing buffering the video when it's paused, which I cannot find how to do it directly... I followed an article ( url...) to manage the buffer strategy but it didn't solve my problem. My problem is: if the user has a very slow network condition, he/she might want to just pause the video manually, and wait it to be downloaded until it's 'pretty much', and he/she can watch it without interrupting. But I notice that, when I pause the video, the event "NetStream.Buffer.Flush" is triggered. I really expect the "buffer when paused" functionality, is it possible to do?
p.s. I'm using red5, not fms, although I haven't touched the difference part of them.

I just met a piece of error log when I was trying to resume the paused mp4 streaming. Here is the log from the server:
[INFO] [NioProcessor-1]

position was not found for timestamp:
92000
I'm using Red5 newest 0.9.1 final for mac os x to stream the H.264/AAC encoded MP4 file to my flash app.
And there's no problem when I'm resuming the .flv file.

I'm making a video player in AS3 and was wondering how to find out how much of the video is currently cached/buffered. I'm not sure what the correct terminology is, so I haven't been able to find it in the documentation.
NetStream.time gives me the current location of the video, so based on that I can display a progressbar.
Underneath the progressbar, I want to display how much of the video has been loaded already. How do I find this value?

It's a simple video player that opens a netStream which setups a client callback object onMetaData.The size is off when video is scaled.Example 1:

if(data.height > 240)

Using netstream to load in a video and have the buffer to basically load the entire video before it starts playing. So the video doesn't begin to play until the buffer is full but while the buffer is filling up, the cue points are being read and triggering actions.

I have a netstream object playing a video introduction
ns.play(video.flv)
and on another frame of my movie I have a menu, at which point I call
ns.pause()
and then depending on what the user clicks, the netstream opens a new video:
ns.play(video2.flv)
except I see a flicker from the previous video I had running. I've tried all sorts of things.

I am trying to load video using NetStream. I am able to do this by using the Video Class, but is it possible with the FLV Playback? I would like to add a seek bar so people can scroll the video if they want to.
I know the FLV Playback Component has this built in so I would use it BUT I can't load a stream to the FLV Playback, I can only set it's source. This works fine, but it doesn't allow me to unload it, the sound keeps playing, which is why I ended up using the NetStream instead.
So I have 2 questions. 1) Is it possible to load the NetStream to the FLV Playback component? 2) If not, how do I add the seek functionality to my Video Class?
