View 4 RepliesI am asked to prepare an interactive and dynamic presentation in the area of enterprise architecture. The source of data should store in database. The effect I want to achieve is something as the link below. Can Flash do it (I guess so but still want to confirm)? But I could not find any similar Flash samples on the internet [URL]..
View 2 RepliesI want a ball to roll along, and as it does, grass and flowers spring up behind it, in it's wake. I have worked out how to get the rolling ball effect, but don't know how to do the grass springing up. I found some grass and flower symbols in Illustrator which will suit the purpose. I thought of loading them into the deco tool as one possible way, but there might other ways.

View 1 RepliesCan anyone recommend the best way to achieve the following continuous scroll effect - I want to simulate a circular room with 12 (numbered) doors in it. There are 'sights' over the 3 middle doors. The sights remain in the same place, but when you press the left or right arrow key the clip of the 12 doors scrolls in that direction and stop at the next door. When you scroll to the right of door 12, door 1 then becomes visible again.

View 2 RepliesI'd like the words in the string to type out in the allotted time, but for some reason my function appends the first and last letter of anything in the string, so "Hello?" becomes "ello." This is not affected if I pad the text in the string with spaces, i.e. " Hello? " Nor does this work if I start count i at -1, not 0.
import flash.utils.Timer;import flash.events.TimerEvent;
var str:String = "Hello?";
var i:int = -1;var delay:int = 720%str.length;
var timer:Timer = new Timer(delay);
timer.start();
timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER,gotime);
function gotime(e:TimerEvent){
textbox_txt.appendText(str.charAt(i));i++;
if (i>=str.length){timer.stop();}}

Any pointers as to how I might go about this? Ideally as a nice plug-in, because I don't want to go too deep into the theory of coding geometric transformations.

View 5 RepliesI have a container (CONTAINER_MC), containing one or more containers(CONTAINER_01_MC) that is rotated arbitrary. Inside these containers I have one or more MC's (MC_01, MC02...)
I want to achieve the effect of zooming and centering in on MC_01, MC_02 ect. I'm scaling and rotating CONTAINER_MC to get this effect, I figured out how to calulate the rotation and scale. But I am having difficulties calculating the X and Y position of CONTAINER_MC.
var scale:Number = stage.stageHeight/MC_01.height;
var rotation:Number =CONTAINER_01_MC.parent.rotation*-1;
But I cant figure how to calculate the new X and Y for CONTAINER_MC the ensures that MC_01 is centered on stage.
The video player (aka moogaloop) on vimeo.com has a neat visual effect for the audio volume slider. There are a number of sound bars that rise and fall when the mouse hovers over them. The volume level is shown by a blue filled area under the bars with pixel precision.
how can the multiple masks (bars) be used to cover a single blue rectangle?
Update: Masks in flash: "the mask item acts as a window that reveals the area of linked layers beneath it [...] A mask layer can contain only one mask item". How do I get multiple masks to clip over one layer?
I was just wondering if anyone knew what software was used to achieve the ribbon effect at the beginning of this flash template: [URL]
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to achieve a scrolling effect like this one.[URL].. I'm trying to achieve a scrolling effect similar to that where the page will scroll with the mouse and rotate like that, also have a maximum scroll and rotation, but also be able to be pushed aside for sub content.
I'm obviously not asking anyone to build the whole thing for me, just point me in the right direction.
how i can combine these two tutorials to achieve a dynamic text from an external source that types itself.

Secondly can ne one turn this (attached file) into a movieclip in flash without loosing it's continous particallizing effect.
I have an application whit accordion
<mx:Accordion minHeight="200" includeIn="radegund0" top="10" bottom="10" left="10" right="10" openDuration="2000" openEasingFunction="{Elastic.easeOut}">
<s:NavigatorContent width="100%" height="100%">

but when click on the second tab for the first time the content is not shown until the effect is over.
I really like the text effect Pom used in the footer contest, and would like to use the same grid-type method of creating mc letters but with a different effect. i understand how to change the parameters and shapes of the letters, but can't seem to figure out which piece of code is purely for the explosion effect. basically, i want the letters but with the 'Repel' effect from[URL] here is Pom's AS:
[AS]
cellSize=3;
radius=10;
damp=.85;
[code]....
and here is the .fla using the repel effect using pre-made mc:
When I create a TLF text area that is editable at runtime (which means that it can get a user input at runtime) I set the text direction to the 'right-to-left' definition in both the 'container and flow' and the 'paragraph' sections and set the language for Arabic or Hebrew at the 'locale' setting. I also set the text alignment to the 'align to start' mode. Now at runtime there's a stange thing. When I try to click with the mouse cursor on the editable TLF text-box, it's not displaying the text icon cursor and don't allow me to insert text inside.
But when I move my mouse cursor over the right side of the editable TLF text box, it change his appearance to the familiar text cursor which indicate that if you click here you will be able to insert text input inside. So my problem is how can I make it that only when I will hover over the TLF text box itself, the mouse cursor will be changed to text cursor icon and when I will hover beside its right side, it will remain at the normal cursor mode.
I am still using flash MX. I'm pulling random text from a textfile (array.txt) into movieclip instance textbox.[code]All is good, but now my question is if I can have a text effect as well. For example having the random quotes typed out as they appear.
View 16 RepliesThere's a movieclip, lets call it myMovieClip. Inside this movieclip there is a dynamic text box, lets call this one myText. Now to change the text within this text box that is embedded in a movieclip, it's simply:
[Code]....
However, what if there is a variable, called myVariable that stores the instance name of the text box. With only one text box I know it's pointless, but for the sake of example, lets leave it simple. So, suddenly the code looks like:
[Code]....
So, I have some basic actionscript code. It's a legacy site, so I'm using AS2. The line of code simply does this:
myField.text = "some text"
So, I select the text field on the stage, then ensure the font is embedded. All the glyphs I want are checked, but then when I compile and test, the fonts don't show up when the code is executed. Instead, the textfield is blank! What happened?! Where did the text go?
I should mention that the .swf which I compile is loaded into another parent .swf during runtime. If that parent .swf does not contain embedded fonts, is that why it's broken?
I am working in Flash CS5 and I have placed a text field (dynamic, classic text) on the stage. I am accessing it through Actionscript on the same frame like this:
var ct:TextField = TextField(getChildByName("Temperature"));
ct.text = "Hello world";
What ACTUALLY appears is this: So... The H, Ls, and D are gone. Mysteriously. Without warning. I am sitting here utterly confused. Is this just me?
PS. The text field is set to Myriad Pro Bold, a font on my computer, so it isn't like it's a font problem.
