I have an application that uses all four direction keyboard keys (up, down, left, right), but when I hit the slider on the application with my mouse, I can't use the left and right keys, at least not on the stage, 'cause the slider moves when I hit those keys. I know that this is default with all sliders...but must you remove this with a keyboardEventListener.removeDefault? If so, how do I do it?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to figure out how to disable a button after it is click and then enable it once another button is clicked. I'm stuck on how to enable the button.

this.gotoAndPlay("s1");
_root.slideshow.gotoAndPlay("s4");

View 2 RepliesI have a button that is disabled after opening an external loaded movie. if that movie is unloaded, how do i re-enable that original button?

How can Button "A" become enabled again.
Does anyone know of a site where I can download temporary SWF files to use as placeholders during web development? I've searched a lot on Google and can't dig anything up like this?
Was wondering if there is something similar to what http://placehold.it is for PNGs, but just need soemthing for SWFs.
I'd like to just grab one and use it to drop into my code, so all the Flash designer has to do is just replace the temporary SWF with the one that's going to be used on the live site.
Our application is a ASP.NET + Flex running on IIS 6.0 server. On the client machines we run IE8 for display. IE creates temp files that seems to be taking up disk space. The Temporary Internet Folder size continues to grow seems to exceed the limit of 8MB - automatic recycle. When and under what conditions does IE delete files from the temporary folders?
View 1 RepliesI am trying to prevent users from viewing my site and then simply going into their "temporary internet files" and stealing my swfs and XML files. I have been using a great .PHP code to stop this but now I am working on a server server that only uses .aspx files. Does anybody know of a way that I can stop files from being stored in the "temporary internet files" folder.
View 1 RepliesI have an action script that reads a map and the information on it and then allows me to search by name and returns the coordinates of that name.The script is compiled and executed via a local web page that I open and the map is on a web site.Anyway, I am trying to figure out where the action script is storing the information so that I can dump it to a flat file to share.If I close the web page, the information is gone and I need to re-scan the map which can take up to 4 hours.I looked in the cache directory on my hard drive and the infomration is not being saved there that I can find which leads me to believe that it's being stored in my computers memory or a temporary table.My experience is with VBA, not action scripts, so I am not sure if theres a way to locate where the information is being stored and retrieve it to write to the flat file since I can't write it into the code to export the flat file for me.
View 1 RepliesI accidentally made some significant changes to a flash file that I can't reverse. Is there a way to retrieve a temporary/backup file from an earlier time?
View 1 RepliesI am using Flash CS3. Now I am using this code.....
var intervalID:Number;
this.createEmptyMovieClip("myMovie",this.getNextHi ghestDepth());

progressMovie._x = 60;
progressMovie._y = 120;
progressMovie.createTextField("percentDoneLabel",p

Now what my problem is, first time using this script successfully its running, and showing preloader text. But another time using this script (press Ctrl + Enter) that time cache files are running, so the preloader text doesnt showing not properly. So how can I remove the cache files using flash.....
I am new to Flash and ActionScript platform. Presently, I am using ActionScript 3.0.I know only basics of Flash but not in depth. My issue starts here: For example, In Windows Operating System, Paint-brush uses Clipboard for temporary storage. My question is: Does Flash have Cache(i.e., buffer for temporary storage)? If Flash has Cache, then where does the temporary data gets stored, in what form, is the data accessible or atleast viewable?
[Code]...
There is a web game that I play and I used fiddler to see what temporary files it downloaded. While I was playing I deleted all those temporary files including the sounds and flash files. But it didn't affect the game at all. Why is that? I checked in fiddler and it doesn't look like the files were redownloaded.
View 1 RepliesWhat i'm trying to do: create an app that will record the mic and upload the recored track to a server. I thought that it will be simple: record, automatic save the record to a temporary file, upload the file to the server and erase the temp file created...but is not. I can't figure out how to save the file without using the save window.
View 5 RepliesIs there anyway to make flash look at the temp internet files.I have a program that is photo heavy, actually a slide show and it pulls jpegs at 50k per photo.However it also pulls a lot of bandwith, no matter how many times you flip thru the photos, it gets a fresh copy from the server. It would be great to tell flash to look at temp inet before going to the web as the explorer does.
View 3 RepliesI would like to know what's the difference when I write a temporary variable like this (these are just examples): version1
[Code]...
What's wrong and right? Currently I write it like version 2 and I'm not sure if I should change it to version 1. I know most developers write like version 1 but I'm a little bit confused because I am totally unaware about version 1. If I use version 1 does that mean that my value is stored explicitly in a temporary variable that is cleared in every cycle?

View 1 Repliescan some one fullscreen and how to disable the esc button?
View 2 RepliesIn my code, when a user clicks on a button, I set the alpha of the button to 50 and set enabled=0. This works to essentially disable and grey out the button. The problem is that even though the button has been disabled, it still sits in the over state until the user moves the cursor off the hit area... Funny, no?
Since you can't tell a button what frame to go to, how do I get it to go back to its up state (without recreating all my buttons as movieclips and doing the whole thing manually)?

if you click on the middle Character a popup window will open at that time i want all other buttons disable so that we cant see the small box on mouseover.[url]...
I have some code similar to the following:
ActionScript Code:
//
//
var box = new Sprite();
box.graphics.lineStyle(10, 0xFF0000);
[code]...
If you click the box, its alpha is set to 1 rather than .1 because of an errant MOUSE_OUT event.What is the right way to fully disable this button when it is clicked?I'd rather not remove the event listeners because I have a bunch of different MOUSE_OVER functions on many different buttons and keeping track of which function is with which button and whether or not the listeners are already assigned seems like way too much work just to properly disable a button.
I have a button that when you roll over it a big window pops up, but then when you click on it, it pops the window up again, now its not a problem but i would like to know if i can disable the click function somehow. so that only the roll over works.
I know you can probably use a movie clip and just tell it with actionscript to load when rolled over, but i don't know how
I have some buttons that play an external swf inside an empty movie clip on the main timeline. I was wondering what Actionscript I need to disable the button when it is pressed. I want the button to still have roll over functionality and everything, but I just want the swf to load once when the button is pressed. Below is the script I am using right now.
on (release) {
//load Movie Behavior
if(this.content == Number(this.content)){
[code].....
I need to know how to disable a button
i used :
_root.(buttonname).enabled=false;
for buttons which is on the stage directly but it doesn't work with buttons that inside a movie clip.
I've programmed a Java application using BlazeDS and Flex, but i think the problem also occurs in any ajax style application. It's a monitoring application, so requests are made regularly to the server. The browser has stored a large amount of temporary internet files on the client pc even getting it saturated. How I can avoid this? I have seen some articles that say to include variables in the html header as:
[Code]...
[code]How come I cant disable the button by this function?
View 1 RepliesI have a movie and after the intro the enter button takes me to the next frame (11) and stops. there i have a drop down menu with button instances on each of the drop downs. The drop down is in a movie clip so i am using on (release) {_root.gotoAndPlay("s1"); } on the button instances to take me to root level to say frame 12 and stops. Each button instance has a different frame label to go to, s1, s2 etc - the idea being that back at root level i can have the content of each of the buttons on each of the frame labels (s1 at frame 12 , s2 at frame 13 etc) .... this works fine except the drop down menu in each of these new frames retains the action script on the drop down button instances - this is fine for all the buttons that will take me to another content page at root level - what i dont want is the AS to remain on the button for the page i am currently on - cos if you click on it it takes you back through the intro etc to get to its frame label again .
View 3 RepliesI need to disable a button once the user has clicked it! I also need the colour of the button to change once it has been clicked as well (I need it to just grey out - not sure if this can be solved using actionscript??) The only method I could think of of accomplishing this is to put each button in their own UILoader, but I'm hoping there is a simpler method!?
