View 4 RepliesI am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):
a:link {text-decoration: none;}
a:active {text-decoration: none;}
a:visited {text-decoration: none;}[code]....
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.
I was wondering if anyone has came up with a way to float html elements, with some content, over .swf without triggering any flash events.
In my case the problem is I have flash map, and drop down menu on top of it.
I simplified this into the following example:
[URL]
If you mouseover any elements in gray box, you will see that stuff behind it, in a flash file, triggers hover effects.
I was wondering if it is possible to create a flash movie that rotates values that are stored in HTML. For example if i have these 3 containers:
<div style="display:none">
<img src="someimage1" />
<span class="text1">text1</span>[code].....
I want to have some flash movie rotate these values every 10 seconds. I don't want to program it hard into flash, it has to be variable. It has to display the first set, then after 10 sec the second, and so on.Maybe if it is possible something that stops the toggle, and skip to just the second, or just the third.I also don't want to use javascript to do this (jQuery etc.), because this conflicts with another timer on the website.Is there a way of doing this?
I have created a website with one flash animation banner.The banner .swf has 5 menus. Each menu goes to different movieclips inside the .swf file. and at the same time i want to load the corresponding html file when i click the menu button and place the html content into the bottom area of the main html page without refreshing the html page.
View 2 RepliesI have a flash musicplayer, that is very simple by itself. it has one button, Start/Stop. The player itself is in footer.
The Problem: when the page loads music won't start (FLASH player won't play) before you don't see it on the page, I mean, when the screen is small by resolution, you don't see the footer - and music doesn't start. when you scroll down to footer (when you see the player) it starts playing.
How should I do that no matter if you see the player or not - the player starts playing.
We are trying to load a flash file in a browser from local machine its loading only in Internet Explorer (IE) but not in other browsers.
View 3 RepliesHow does the browser load flash files? Do they load progressively, or does the browser wait until the entire flash file is loaded before displaying it?The reason is I have a tiny clip that is extremely high in quality, only a few seconds long, but it's over 4 mb.Will the user have to wait until all 4 mb is loaded before viewing? Or does it load as the user watches it? I just imported a .flv into Flash, and exported as a .swf.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to place a flash file on an image at a specific location. how can i do this?
i tried something like this
<img src="images/logo.jpg"/> <object classid="homelogo"><embed src="images/logo.swf"></embed><object>
bit it did not work. how can i overlap a flash file on top on an image at a specific location?
I want to get an idea on how the majority of people structure the flash websites they make.First, do most of you actionscripters, when creating a website, use a parent movie that holds the sites navigation and an embedded blank movie clip to load individual content pages? I get the feeling that is true because it saves a lot of space in your swf file.
That was the easiest question. Next, when you create a transition effect to keep the viewer occupied between loading different pages, how do you usually go about this?Assuming you have a blank movieclip in the main SWF to load individual page content.Do you have a movieclip animation that is called in the main SWF that is a layer above or masks the container movieclip which is loading the external content? Or, do you have the transition in the actual content SWF, with a transition in effect, midframe with the content, then transition out effect.
It seems the second choice might be a little more repetitive, but maybe a little more simple, then again, maybe not.My last question is not actionscript but javascript.I want to load my flash file from a link on an html page that launches a new window that is perfectly sized around the flash movie, with none of the menu bars and that works on windows(ie, netscape, opera) and MACs.As a secondary, if its possible,I would like to have the flash movie pop up into the center of the screen, right now it pops into the top left corner.Here is the script I have. It works for PCs with IE, but a friend that looked at it on her MAC had to resize the window:
Code:
<A HREF="" onClick="window.open('flashmovie.html', 'newWnd',
'width=750,height=400'); return false;">Try this</A>
The flash.html is the automatic html page that flash publishes your SWF file.
I was reading about Flex- JavaScript communication via ExternalInterface.But I had a doubt, it said that the javascript code should be written in the HTML file of the application ? Now which is this HTML file ? Is it the index.template.html file per project or the HTML file created per MXML application ?

We've got a green screened video playing in a flash movie over top of our html content.when the movie ends, flash uses external interface .api to call a javascript function which swaps the flash movie out with a 5 x 5 pixel flash movie (rewrites the <div>).this works and you can interact with the html content after the flash movie in all browsers except firefox.anyone know of any work-arounds or is there a better way of handling flash over html in this fashion?
View 1 RepliesIs there a solution, similar to img data:image/gif;base64..., that allows to embed an swf movie in a HTML page without having to create a new swf file and link it in the src attribute?

I'm currently downloading website via an ActionScript HTMLLoader to later have access to the DOM to get some information out of the page. The problem is: each resource that is linked on the page (images, stylesheets, javascript) is also loaded which takes some additional time. I don't really need those resources, because only the plain HTML/DOM is interesting. Is there any way to disable loading of linked resources? At first I tried using an URLLoader and parse the result as XML, but when the website isn't valid this doesn't work. I also didn't find a library that validates/parses a given HTML-string into valid XML.

I was wondering if flash can load html document, the way browser displays it.
View 1 RepliesWhat am I missing here because my video doesn't have any controls? Is there a special parameter I need or do I need to encode the SWF file in a special way? I just used a MPEG to SWF converter provided by Blaze Media Pro.
View 2 RepliesI want to make div into my intex.htm file (already built site) to place in a .swf file that will cover the whole screen, and a few seconds later the animated page will disapear and the htm page will appear. I don't want to make different htm file, neither put a button on flash(ie on click...). I just want after a few seconds and after the flash has ended, the flash will go away and the page will appear.

How to load a txt file (with HTML tags) to the XML file to display the contents of a txt file? I do not want to put html tags in an XML file using CDATA. I want the XML file to put a link to a txt file that contains HTML tags, and then referring to the tag in the XML file that contains the address of the txt file.

However when using this movie on my html site since the flash menu gets refreshed the push pin goes back to where I have it starting by default.Is there any way to reference which html page I am currently on instead of the current button in AS3?Code looks something like this...
var currentPage:SimpleButton = home_btn;
tack_mc.x = home_btn.x;
tack_mc.y = home_btn.y;

I have a simple horizontal scrolling gallery of 24 thumbnails in Flash, the thumbnail images are loaded into the boxes using actionscript. I would like each thumbnail to link to a html page of my choice. There is a movie clip instance called panel with the 24 buttons inside it and on the first button as a test I've placed the following action script:
on (release) {
getURL("team.html","_self");
}
When testing this movie from within Flash (CTRL, ENT) the button links to the html file (which is in the same folder as the SWF) with no problem. The problem is when I preview the page in a browser and try to click on the first button nothing is happening. I've tried it in both IE7 and Firefox with the same result.
The flash thumbnail clip is placed as a flash object into a html page using dreamweaver.
I'm sure this is something simple such as navigating the timeline but I've tried a few things like _root. but still no joy.
I already have HTML pages built and I'm redoing that site in flash.The content pages will stay the same, so instead of completely rebuilding the pages in flash with a new text scroll box, I am looking for an already built component that will allow me to just load html pages into it.
I don't want to spend the time constructing all the elements separately to accomplish this instead I want one already built that allows me to simply load an html page into it.
I have a flash movie that loads another movie into a place holder container upon opening. So, 2 swf files - one is the main movie and the other the one that loads into the main movie. Works just fine when testing in flash or clicking on the swf files outside of flash. But when I embedd the main movie into my html page - the main movie loads ok, but it doesn't load the child movie. I have both swf files in the directory so I am not getting why it works fine except when placing into html page.
