I am trying to change the background color of a textInput field. I have tried: ActionScript Code: var textInputFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat(); textInputFormat.color = 0xFF0000; _textInput.setStyle("backgroundColor", textInputFormat); However this doesn't want to work.
I need to load textbox.text in to string Obj and find the x y coordinates of some characters by the start and end index of that string. I am already doing this by using textSnapShot class and it is working great, but this class is working only on static textbox it is not working on dynamic textbox. any one knows any way of doing this! here is the snapshot function it returns xy coords:
function GetStringXY(startindex, endindex):Array{ var xy:Array = new Array(); var mc:MovieClip = this;
I'm currently trying to create a function that will increase the size of a text field whenever the text in it goes below the text field's current height. The function will happen whenever my text box's text is changed.
i have created a dynamic text box ( instance name = scrollTextBox var = scrollText )
i use the script -
var textLength= scrollText.length;
to try and obtain the amount of characters / pixel length of the scrollText var / text file
however, regardless of whats contained within the scrollText document i keep getting the textLength return of 20 ?
my code so Far is -
Code: Select all// Load Text and adjust the DynamicText Box size to match the content loadVariables("scrollText.txt",""); scrollTextBox.autoSize = "left";
I am trying to change the text color in a dynamic text field with xml.[code]but this creates a text field for you, which I dont need it created already have a dynamic text field with the var mybtninfo.What I have right now to get the text to show up in the field is:now only want to change the color of the text in the box thru XML.
Does anybody know if there is a way to uotput the length of a text field in pixels. I mean that would depent on the text style of course.I am trying to create a mask with the width of the text fields plus 3 pixels.
i'm trying to get a Flash form to test certain conditions, one of which is the full date (ie 2006 as opposed to 06), but the AS below (in bold) isn't working... does anybody know the right script?
on (release) { if (!name.length) { text.emailstatus = "please enter your name";
I have a dynamic textfield that displays different text. What I want is the ability to control both the text color and the background color of the textfield.
So i'm working on this website and I want to be able to switch out the entire color scheme on the website everytime a button is pressed, I've stepped away from flash for awhile and actionscript 3 is new me. Plus I haven't quite found any truely useful stuff on forums yet.
What i can't figure out is when a button is pressed the HTML background color changes to one of 5 preselected colors (that alternate ever time the button is pressed). Then for each background change the text changes too as it is part of a entire new color scheme.
What I've managed so far is to change the color of the background thats within the Flash file. What i did was to make a movie clip that plays to a next frame and stop everytime the button is pressed. Now i just need to also get to change the HTML color and the font colors.
//"homeText" being the name of dynamic text field and "Button" the name of the button and "background" being the movie clip that is the background within the flash file.
Button.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, Button_CLICK); function Button_CLICK(e:MouseEvent):void{ background.play(); homeText.TextFormat(color "0x000000");}
I'm not sure if my code is just sloppy or if i'm completely going the wrong route here.
While creating one photo gallery I am facing one problem in controlling the Font Color, Font Size and other characteristics of a text loaded into a text field from an XML File. The name of the text field in question is my_txt it loads the title from the xml file attached herewith. how I can control the behavior of the text loaded in that text field.
I'd like to be able to click on each of the buttons and have the background color change and also have its color name loaded in the dynamic text field. E.g. Clicking the white square would change the background color to white and should also display the text ''white'' in the dynamic text box. I've sorted out the colour changing part with the following code:
I know this is a tutorial on this site but I'm having trouble finding it, and its been a while so I can't remember exactly how to do it. I just need to make a dynamic text field that you can edit via text file.

I have a dynamic text box that acquires text from a txt file.
Sometimes the text is greater than the text field so I want to be able to show a page up and page down button. However I do not want these displayed if the text does not exceed the field.
Currently the buttons are always displayed.
I understand how to get the text field info, I do not understand the "easy" bit of only loading the buttons if the text field size is exceeded.
hey i need to figure out how to make a text field that will display text with else/if functions, basically on my program with a certain output i want a certain phrase to appear depending on which output. how would i go about doing this?
Is there a way to make text flow from one text field to another? I have some dynamic text coming into 2 textfields. I can have it so they enter the text as a paragraph for each field, but i was wondering if they could enter all the text and i could make it flow from one textfield to the other, like you would see in a magazine.
I'm really new to create text field. I am trying to make some text appear (obviously) so I decided to create an object that would execute it and then I could place the text. What's wrong with it?
Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.
I'm building a small Flash app in which users will enter a promotion code and will submit that to a server... well... there's more to it than that... but that's what I am here about...Anyways, I wanted to activate a button when a user has typed in the full 10 digit promo code... that is, after 10 characters are entered into my input box, the submit button becomes visible..
I'm setting up a simple Flash contact form that sends a mail message using PHP. I'm using the Text Input and Text Field components and would love to style the background tint of the text fields so as to not be white. I want to be able to enter my own hexidecimal number.This seems like it should be easy, like a button or property or something, but I can't figure it out.
Using Flash CS4 on a Mac, in an ActionScript 2.0 file. (Can make a 3.0 file if necessary).

one text field that gets a line pushed onto it every so often, but with a catch different words will have different colors; desired:
Line1 in my text field is here Line2 in my text field is here
Making more then one text field is not an option for the amount of text that will be pushed into this field, is there some obvious way of doing this I have overlooked in the AS3 doc?
tField.text = "Sher Ali"; var tFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat(); tFormat.color = 0xff0000;
I don't know why but if I create a text field on the stage ( no as ), flash creates a white background in it... I have changed all parameters but the bg field remains the same...
Anyone knows how can I set the default transparent bg for the text?
