I was hoping to use the slider component to control some parameters in a game. However, after clicking on the slider to adjust it, the arrow keys start controlling the slider and stop controlling the character in the game. Is there a way to disable arrow key control of flash's built in slider component?
I am a beginner to flash gaming. I am making a platform game, but can not reverse my character when he goes backwards. This is my code for left and right: if (Key.isDown(Key.RIGHT)) {_x += speed;} if (Key.isDown(Key.LEFT)) {_x -= speed;} How Can I reverse it so when it goes LEFT, the character turns all the way around?
I am trying to stop the browser from scrolling when using the arrow keys within flash. It makes it impossible to play the game if the browser is always scrolling up and down when your using the arrow keys to play the game. Ive searched around but google seems to think I want a scrollbar in flash.
The objective is to get the fox - by using the arrow keys - to move around on the stage and when he touches a duck the duck should disappear of the stage. The duck has a motion tween on it, to make it fly.Also if the fox touches one of the traps he should make a sound - using the redfox.wav sound in the library and disappear off the stage.I have this code on the actionscript timeline //Program to generate a set number of traps
//Declaring Variables var numOfTraps:Number; var movieWidth:Number; var movieHeight:Number; var counter:Number; //setting variables values for traps numOfTraps = 6 movieWidth = Stage.width; movieHeight = Stage.height; //Program to generate a set number of traps //Declaring Variables for (counter = 7; counter <= 13; counter++){ //Place 6 traps on the stage [code]....
I have a file set up with a movie clip moving from side to side by itself and when it reaches the end of the stage it goes back in the opposite direction.[code]I know want to control the movie clips movement with arrow keys, just left and right so that it would stop when it reaches the edge and will only let me move it the opposite direction.I guess I'm just trying to set up a sort of template.
I have been using powerpoint all long for my presentations, but I'd like to move on with Flash. My question is therefore as follows: How do I use the arrow keys to go to the next frame and optionally, the left key to go to the previous frame?
For some reason, the down and right keys aren't working. They work fine in other programs but in this program they fail. paddle_ybase = paddle._yscale;paddleSpeed = 0; onEnterFrame = function(){ if(Key.isDown(Key.UP)){paddleA._y -= 1;}if(Key.isDown(Key.DOWN)){paddeA._y += 1;} if(Key.isDown(Key.LEFT)){paddleA._x -= 1;}if(Key.isDown(Key.RIGHT)){paddeA._x += 1;} steam(7);paddle._rotation = paddleSpeed; } function steam(num){for(i=0;i<num;i++) { [Code] .....
im trying to make a navigation menu thats out of 5 buttons to go through them with arrow keys, right and left, figured i could do it with an array, but cant seem to work that out
how do you move an object around with the arrow keys.
But there's a catch.
I need my object to flip horizontal when pressing right when it is facing left ( and vice versa). And I need it to flip vertical when it is facing facing upwards and the down arrow is pressed (and vice versa).
I am trying to create a four button system that is controlled using either your mouse or arrow keys.I need to create a Key Listener to allow the highlighting and selecting of each button . The arrow keys allow you to select button when you reach the last button it returns to the first button, and the enter key allows you to select the button.
I know this has been posted many times before but, how do you move an object around with the arrow keys.But there's a catch.I need my object to flip horizontal when pressing right when it is facing left ( and vice versa). And I need it to flip vertical when it is facing facing upwards and the down arrow is pressed (and vice versa). Does anyone know how to do this?
I have the script so that you can controle a car with the arrow keys but for one of the misions on my gta2 style game i would like an enemy car to follow you. The car has to stay facing the right way acording to the way the street though, this is the only bit i cant think of i also need boundries.

i got my character to move left, right, down and up wit this code:
[Code]....
My question is, how can i block the up and down movement? I tried simply deleting some part of the script to block does movement from the user. But then the script would not work properly : s Here is the uploaded page i'm working on: link.
Is there a way to make it so that when you press the right key your animation/game goes forward a frame and when you press the left key it goes back a frame? I have a pretty minimal knowledge of actionscript so I'm not exactly sure how it would be done.
I'm making a Flash presentation for a client which I will eventually publish as a Projector movie...All the animated slides are in individual scenes, but the individual scenes have several stop points.My client wants to be able to use the left and right arrow keys to skip backwards and forwards to these stop points. They also want to be able to press the spacebar at any point to stop and play the movie manually.
so first off, this is AS 2.0. Second, i have a little character from a tutorial on how to move an object around with the arrow keys. The character faces on way on "up" another on "down" and so forth. There are 4 frames for it facing up, down, left, and right so that on the key presses it faces the proper direction and moves accordingly. I also want this little guy to move behind objects. When this happens, i want the object that the little guy is behind to be partially transparent so that you can still see him and he doesnt just vanish.
Ok basically what is happening is that i play my game and when i die i goto the game over screen. once i click the play again button it goes back to the beginning but there's a problem. the arrow keys will not move the character left or right.So a few ideas is that the
Code: onclipevent(load) is not resetting the variables on the next play. Another is that the
Everything worked perfectly fine in CS5, then I converted it to CS4 and it won't move my guy around, or even trace anything, when I press the WASD keys. The arrow keys still work fine.
im currently trying to extend my flash video player with the option to pause the video and then use the left and right arrow keys to navigate forward and backwards frame by frame. I already figured out that I can only seek to keyframes and not every frame and that seeking always gets you to the closest keyframe automatically.
I couldnt find a method anywhere to seek to the next keyframe automatically and if I try to seek in small intervals I sometimes end up on the next frame like I intended but most of the time I get thrown back to the keyframe I started because its the closer one.
I wouldn't think this to be a very difficuly question to find a solution to. My question is; I have a movieclip with instance name "player" and I am trying to layout it's basic movement properties. I already have made it so that the mc will move up, down, left, and right. Cake. What I am having trouble with is getting the mc to rotate in the designated direction (right = 0 degrees, up = 90 degrees, etc).
I have tried using the xscale 100/-100 strategy, but that doen't do anything for up and down movements.
I just made a new Flash project. It lets you move a Cube, with the arrow keys on the keyboard. Code: function hearKey(yourEvent:KeyboardEvent):void{ if (yourEvent.keyCode==Keyboard.RIGHT){ cube_mc.x+=5 }; if (yourEvent.keyCode==Keyboard.LEFT){ [Code] .....
It works perfectly fine, except for example: I press down the down key. It moves down (good so far). I keep pressing the down key down and also press the left key down. Now it moves left(not so good, I want it to move both left and down, how do I do that?) Now I release the left key but am still on the down key. Nothing happens....(I want it to then continue going down).

In Fash CS3, suddenly, in certain files, I can't move an object left using arrow keys - but I can move the same object right, or if I hold down Shift + left arrow, it works correctly Also - I can move the object down with arrow keys, but not up Workaround - move an object on a different layer, then return to the problem object and it moves correctly. But this doesn't last long, the problem resurfaces.(I've tried rebooting; tried copying all the layers into a new file.
