ActionScript 3.0 :: Accessing Movie Clip Inside A Button With ColorTransform

I need help applying the color transform function to a movie clip that exists inside of a button. I want to keep the button a button (as opposed to making it a movie clip as well with onclick and hover handlers) as I already have behaviors built into it and would rather not recreate it. I have the path to the object

Can anyone tell me how to use the colorTransform function on Movie Clips inside of buttons. Is there another way to indicate this path? I am using CS4 and actionscript 3.

Okay I have this problem and I can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong. Here is an outline of what is happening:1. I am having this problem with actionscript 2:
I have a class that instantiates a movieclip from the library, eg: myBar:MovieClip = level0.AttachMovie("debugbar", "debugbar_mc", 999);
myBar is an instance variable in the class.
Now the important part - debugbar in the library is a movieclip that contains some components - buttons and textInputs. The problem comes when trying to access these components.
I would have thought that this would work: myBar.input_txt.text = "hello";
in order to set the text of "input_txt", the instance name of a TextInput component on the timeline of the movie clip (frame 1 of a 1 frame mc).
This does not work. Infact, I cannot access any specific "component" properties - they come back undefined. I cannot added event handlers for the component events either.
I can however set and retrieve MovieClip properties for the "input_txt", such as _x. However there is one added strange thing with this too - setting _visible to false doesn't seem to work (however perhaps a component by default overrides this).
I tried casting it to a component, such as:
var temp:TextInput = TextInput(myBar.input_txt);
trace(temp);
which gave "temp" as null. Without casting, it gives the path to correctly.
It almost seems like the components are somehow broken when trying to access them this way - or that they cannot be accessed this way?
The thing is, I was able to access all of this before, when the code to do it was placed on the timeline (frame 1, the only frame) of the debugbar itself, where the components were placed at authortime.
I need to have it in a class though, as I need to pass in certain objects that need to be accessed by the mc. I am rather baffled as to why all this doesn't work.

ive got a slider menu which opens when clicked. however the buttons (also mc instanced) inside the slider mc wont work... here is the code:

how can i get a MC button that is inside another MC to carry out its functions
the mc button is using TweenMax for its roll-ON roll-Off effect and that works as normal when i test main movie
but the button itself dont function when pressed still mouse roll-On roll-Off effect works but not the movie clip button it this to do with it been nested inside another mc or is it the code am using below

I would like to be able to change the color of more than one movie clip in the same layer in the same frame. Basically I have place two different movie clips with defined instances,i.e. body and shoulder onto the canvas in one frame on the timeline.
I have created three different buttons (red_btn, blue_btn, and yellow_btn) to use to change the color of say the body or shoulder. I would use red and blue to change the body and say yellow and green to change the shoulders. These are also on the same layer and same frame on the timeline as the movie clips.
The problem I am having is how would I declare the two movies or variables to change independantly? Would I need to place one movie clip on one layer and then place the other on a different layer so that when I press the button I want i.e. the red button, it only changes the body and not the shoulders.
Here is my actionscript that I am using to change the color of the clip(s)

body here is my declared variable wich is the body of a shirt that is one movie clip. When you place both clips on the timeline ontop of each other, you basically get a shirt with different color shoulders and body.

I can't seem to get my head round why when I set the colortransform object for one clip in my movie, it seems to affect the entire movie - textboxes and everything..I thought that a colorTransform it only affected the specified and child clips in the movie.Example - I have a lot of things attached to _root.I have a particular clip which is on its own and is attached to the _root - this is my code...Code:clip.transform.colorTransform = new flash.geom.ColorTransform(0.05, 0.05, 0.05, 1, 0, 0, 0, 0);That seems to set the clip nice and dark as I want it to - but it also sets all other clips and all clips dynamically added afterwards to have the same colortransform settings... am I missing something from the CT object?

how do we refer the submenubutton which hasbeen masked inside a movie clip.
In my code ,
mainBtn3 is present inside "mm " movie clip . and on click of it I am able to move to another frame using below code . But, if there is a sub menu for the button , and if I am referring it as below [mm.btn3sub1] and trying to move to another frame . I am getting following error

I have in the Scene 1, on layer 2, Frame 2 a movie clip named "Festival_conteudo_mc".And inside of this i have a buton ( close_btn ) that I would like to close this movie clip and go to the Scene 1 - to the main menu.On Scene 1 I have my menu buttons ( Festival and Contacts ).
The problem is that i dont know how to make them communicate, I've tryed _root, and As3 tells me it doesnt exist and its replace by Stage...I too new in this stuff. What happens when i put

I'm writing a card game in AS3. The artist I'm working with has produced (in Flash CS4) a single swf-file containing all the card graphics and animations. The structure of the fla working file looks something like this:
- Scene
- CardGraphics (Movie Clip)
- CardFront
- CardBack
- CardValueImage (Movie Clip)
In the program I create 52 instances of my Card class, each having a MovieClip instance created from the loaded swf. The idea is to set the frame of the CardValueImage MovieClip to correspond to the Card instance's suit and rank member variables. However, I can't figure out how I access CardValueImage and call gotoAndStop (or whatever method I will need to call).

How do I move / create a button that functions inside a movie clip?I have been creating a quasi-simple website following the tutorial provided by Lynda.com. Using I have created a functional site in which the buttons work so long as they are part of the main timeline. However if I take this functional button and drop it into a movie clip I've created, it ceases to function. Drag it back out of the movie clip and it starts working again. I am sure it's an action script coding problem on my end.[code]

I am building a click through presentation that has some small text in it. To maintain the design and allow for readability, I have added a zoom feature.Here is the structure of the movie,Stage - contains pages movie clip and forward/reverse click buttons for changing pagesThere is a button at the _root level that uses a tweener to scale the pages_mc up to 170%. When this is clicked, it allows the pages to be dragged around the screen so you can look at different sections. When you click the button again, it returns the pages back to their original size stops drag.My problem is, on the pages, there are buttons with links to external sites. Once startDrag has been invoked, I cannot touch the buttons inside the movie clip. Is there a way to make these buttons work?

I have one button its name a_btn. this button is inside one move clip name a_mc. this button is on first frame. so when write code for that:

On the about page of my Flash website, I wanted 7 buttons to navigate to various labels. I just finished the first button. I made it while I was inside the about_mc. It worked well but would NOT navigate. I took the button OUT of the Movie clip and made a separate layer on the about page for buttons and pasted it there and it worked perfect. When I made it inside the mc, is there some different code I should have used other than the standard code for making a button navigate to a frame. I built an addeventlistener and a function. BUT they only worked when the button was "ON TOP" of the mc NOT when it was INSIDE the mc. I have a transition tween on the about_mc and therefore the button does not tween when it is on TOP of the mc only when it is inside the mc.

Trying to target a button inside a mc in order to trigger a swf.the mc is called "nav_btns"the button is called "contact_btn" The swf has the same name as the listener in order to repeat the function with multiple swfs. my problem is, i'm getting an error of an Access of undefined property with my mcI geting an error:"1120: Access of undefined property nav_btns.
