I have a simple website and I am going from one page(flash file) to another page(different flash file) using the following code.

This works fine, but I want to be able to use "_self" so I open the new page in the same window yet it doesn't seem to work.

I inherited some code from a previous programer. The idea is that a user clicks on the player and that opens the page at a new url. It works if it opens in a new page but it doesn't work trying to open the url in the same page. It just closes the player. Here is the code:

I can't seem to get the javascript open window functon to work with a simple button. I'm using flash 8. I'm creating a simple CD with exe which loads a swf movieclip. With in this movie clip is a button to open a popup window. Every javascript I have tried to use isn't working. The exe, swf and html page all reside in the same directory. There the latest:

I have a mc (houses_mc on frame1) (a long image the user can pan to the left or right) and I want to place some buttons in this movieclip to go to another page when CLICK. I put the second page on the second frame in the timeline, and so on. ( Is this alright or should I open it in a scene or as a new fla file?) So far I can't get my button work. It seems that As3 doesn't like btns placed in mc or something like that. The roll over and hover and hit works all fine, but when I click it doesn't go anywhere. I work with 3d animation. Im have a problem with a personal website Im doing, I have a link in a button inside a flash movie to open a new window and play a youtube movie:

This works fine in Firefox but in IE it doesnt work, I then change the /v/ in the youtube link with /p.swf?video_id= and now I have the window open showing the small youtube thumbnail of my video but once a click play, nothing happens, I check it and is not loading anything.

Is there a way to open a html page in a borderless popup window using AS3. I've found info using AS2 with the "getURL" but nothing with the "new URLRequest" This is an example of what I'm looking to do: [URL]
View 2 RepliesIn this code I'm creating a new window when I click the button. In the new window are TextInput and DropDownList components. When the new window opens, clicking the DropDownList does nothing - you have to click it a second time round to get it to open. However, click into the TextInput field first and then try opening the DropDownList works no problem.

I've tried to use it. It works fine in all the browsers in a non frame layout. But when aplying it to a frame layout (i know, not cool but nessecairy) it refuses to work, and it generates an error message. That it can't open the requested HTML page.
View 1 RepliesI've tried the chromeless script from chromeless.org but it doesn't work in windows XP SP1 and SP2. I need a pop up full screen window as I've designed the whole site with the full screen in mind and if I can't get a pop up, I got to redo everything!! I redid it twice and I'm not going to try the third!! OMG!! Anyone has alternative solutions for this? Or anyone has another version of the chromeless script that works with SP1 and SP2?

I have three buttons on screen that navigate to different places on the timeline. I have set them all up as buttons using a generic button in the library and then given them all different instance names. I selected the button and changed the text colour for each state in the timeline (up, over, down) to keep it simple. The buttons are all, as far as I can analyse, identical in all but instance name.
When I test the movie, the first button changes text colour on 'over' and, when I click (i.e. down state) the colour changes again as designed. The navigation action doesn't occur until I release the mouse button, giving the feel of having 'clicked' the button.
With the other two buttons, which have been set up as far as I can tell in exactly the same way, when the down state occurs, I see a momentary flash of the text colour change and it performs the nav straight away. I really want it to perform the same way as the first button but cannot for the life of me see why they're behaving differently.

I created the button in flash cs4 with a static state and a pulsing state on "Over" and "down" that works fine. I tried adding the following action to the button>

View 1 Replieson the attached fla I have an "invisible" button (button with 0 alpha). I copied a script from the tutes section that will allow me to open a new window when the button is clicked (another rip from a forum question). This works OK, but I also have a MC below the button layer and this MC has some AS attached to it which basically makes it fade out to the image on the bottom layer.
It seems to me that the button script makes the MC script stop working because it's above the MC layer (I've switched the button layer below the MC layer and the fade out then works, but the button doesn't ). How can I get both scripts working together? I know that MC's can't work like buttons, but is there a work around this?
