I need to remove focus from a text field, called txtSearch:

The problem that I am having, is that when I click on the text field, it is also clicking on the stage for some reason, so now I can't gain focus to the text field when it is clicked.
I have a swf that is having problems only when I load a movie.[code]I noticed that the movie does not run right only when the cursor is still bliking in the input text field. I will input text in the input field but the cursor continues to remain in the field even after clicking the "someButton".[code]but is still has a problem. The problem being that when I click another button in the program, sometimes it will not work and othertimes it will.When I remove the input field and hard code the import the loadmovie it works fine.

Basically, I have a button that loads an MC onto the stage (so within an MC in the base MC). When the new MC loads it contains a text field. I want the user to be able to start typing without having to click in the text field first.
I need to select an input text box on keypress, as the mouse will be busy. Ive had a look and found setfocus, but everything i try tells me There is no method with the name 'setfocus'. So somethin along the lines of

I have a textfield and a button component.The problem is when the textfield is focused and i click anywhere on the stage it remains focused and no focusout event occurs. I know that it's because component classes implement IFocusManager(Component) interface and the TextField class does not .I do not want to create a new instance of FocusManager class or implement the IFocusManager interface in a custom class. Is there any way to disable the focusmanager ? The deactivate method does not seem to work in as3!

View 3 RepliesI'm in and out of AS2 and it's been awhile.if this is possible to reliably create this state for an Input text field.Ideally the text area has some text in it as a prompt tot he user, and the cursor is blinking at the end of the prompt text. When the user clicks on the box, it resets to empty content and the user can type their question.I have the text area set up with prompt text, instance name. I should add that this text fields starts out on stage as a dynamic text field. In the code above I am changing its type to input, so that might affect things. I am trying to set up the field so that when a user clicks in the text field, a cursor movie clip appears, and the text that was in the field is erased, and that when they leave the text field and click elsewhere, the text is accepted, the textfield converts back to a dynamic field, essentially "locking" the entered text into the field.
I want to have the caret (flashing cursor) to appear when I set the focus to a text field. It works fine when the user clicks on the text field.

I have a web page which has a SWF file embeded. I have an issue with the focus.
Steps to reproduce:
1)Click on a HTML Text Field which is inside a Iframe
2)Click on a Flex Field.
3)Begin to type some text.
Expected Result is the entered text should go in the Flex TextInput field but the actual Result is it goes into HTML text field.
This is the bug which was filed but closed without any resolution. The workaround suggested there doesnt work. ( bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/SDK-12377 )

In the script, sometimes a newline is added in the beginning of the text field (am using a textArea in adobe flex 3), and later on that newline might need to be removed. I was wondering how to check if there is a newline at the beginning of the text field and then how to remove it.
View 1 RepliesI am having a bit of trouble replacing txt within a mc on my stage in response to button clicks on the main timeline also.This is the code that is working, and all it is, is when you click btn_servOne the goal is to remove the type_mc within the placed movieClip that works fine.What I need it to do, is remove the current, then add the selected txt... so in this case, I need it to remove txtServices_mc, and also addChildAt (0) for the next field of text: txtServOne_mc. Everytime I try to add that into the function, it fails though. So, can anyone assits?

Upon entering the screen, I set the focus to the first field, a combobox, and after making a selection I want to tab to the next field, a textfield, but I can't tab out of the combobox. I can use the mouse to click on the textfield and give it focus but I'd rather tab. I also tried to programatically give focus to the textfield (from the function associated with the combox's listener) without success.

What i have is an empty movie clip with an onClipEvent (mouseUp) action applied to it which removes the text within each text field when it is selected. This is so i can have "name", "email" and "message" written in the input text boxes, which dissapears when the user selects it. The problem is that if someone puts their text in then reselects it after doing something else, then their text also dissapears... i suppose im looking for a way to remove the focus just once, or another way of removing the focus. here is the actionscript applied to the empty movieclip:

Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.
Is it possible to login through flash using one Dynamic Text Field and one Input Text Field and no buttons? If so how? I have seen many tutorials dealing with logging in to PHP using flash but it requires you to make your own php scripts which i am not familiar with. Can some one tell me how to do this with PHPBBs existing php scripts... I want to be able to login thorugh a Input Text Field box and have it verify it in PHP and also be able to register and view other PHP info such as users online and FAQ..

But having the user input a number, store it as a variable, store which function the user wants to perform and clear the text field then store the new input in the same text field as a different variable and multiply or add or divide or subtract the 2 numbers and getting the equals sign to display the answer when clicked is harder than I thought it would be.

ROLL_OVER / MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT.In this MC every time on roll_over it generates (addChild) a random number of small circles which appear spread around on top of the rectangle shape. After a certain duration they're removed by scripting.The problem is that while they're there, exactly THOSE areas of those small circles lose the Roll-Over triggering, only those areas not covered of the rectangle still works as roll-over.I guess it has something to do with FOCUS or something but haven't been able to figure out yet how to remove focus / circumvent those small circles from preventing roll-over.
View 5 RepliesI am working on a file that has a rotating dial, and I'd like the dial to reveal contents of a text field (a link) as the dial points in the direction of the text field. I have 4 text fields located at 90, 180, 270 and 360 degrees (top, bottom, left and right). I have it controlled via AS, so I've got all the Math but I was hoping someone might know how to reveal the links when the arrow (in the dial) is pointing in these directions.I set up a text field for testing, which shows the degrees, but I'm getting 'NaN' in the field (problems with Theta and converting degrees to Radians, I think). I thought this might help me figure out how to reveal those links, if I can get the NaN to work.Currently, the file is rotating with an onPress, but I'm going to convert it to a mouse follow, instead, so the user only has to float around to see the links.

The red glowing error box should have disappeared, but it will disappear when you focus on another component e.g. the second input box. If you refersh the screen, click the checkbox, and TAB onto the first input box, type 100, the error glow will disappear as I expected. This is what I want for click also.

What I'm trying to do is to write something in an input field and then it should show up in a dinamic field. I can make this happen, but the problem is that the dinamic field shows its new text in the same format as the Input field. For example, the input text is written in TimesNewRoman and the dinamic text is in Arial, but when the dinamic text shows the input, the text is still in TimesNewRoman when I want it to be in Arial.
View 11 RepliesI've created a dynamic text field - mediaImportName001 (created , and populated it with the name of a file that I choose to import using a browse button (as3 and AIR).This works fine - I can import the file, and the name appears in the field.
I'd now like to pass the contents of the text field to another text field. But I can't get the contents. If I try to trace the contents of the textField trace("mediaImportName"+thisNum).text - Flash returns "undefined" (even though I'm asking it to trace after the field has been populated).
I use the following code to check that the field really is there and named correctly (the code returns the children):

from above gives me...

yet
trace (["mediaImportName"+thisNum].name);
returns undefined (thisNum represents an increment I use to name multiple clips and text fields, and in this case trace(thisNum); returns 001)
