ActionScript 3.0 :: Set SelectedColor Of The ColorPicker Component To The Color Of A TextFormat?

I am trying to set selectedColor of the colorPicker component to the color of a TextFormat. colorPicker.selectedColor is of type uint and TextFormat.color of type object. I looked around and found this function:

The last line returns the following error: "1118: Implicit coercion of a value with static type Object to a possibly unrelated type Number."

what i'm trying to do is to change the color of the body of my fish.png to a colorpicker selectedColor.but then i'm encountering problem with the floodfill method...Whenever I pick a color, it would change the body to transparent.and there seems to be little information, hence my posting here.. fishfishfish is the linkage of fish.png in library.

im having problem with a color picker. I set the selected color with AS, see it changed on screen but then later when I try to get the selected color value it always returns 0.Im using Flash CS5.To recreate the issue make a fla with a color picker on stage with the instance name line_color. Paste in the code below.

I'm making a flash app that allows you to create text, edit it. At some point, I need to get the text's color.

Then, you can stick the text on the movie and make a new one. During the creation of the movie clip holding the created text, all the format parameters of the text are passed to the movieclip. When I call back the .color parameter, it shows a value that isn't hex nor RGB... I've been googling for the last hour trying to find how to convert this back to RGB or hex values with no success. In this case, the value is : 65535

I am having two panels with separate colorpickers in them. If i select a particular color in the colorpicker, then the border of that panel should change to that color. I am able to do this perfectly but, since i have written the same code for both colorpickers, when i select the other colorpicker the previous panel color is coming to the normal color i.e. default panel color.
If i want the panels to retain the color even after selecting the other colorpicker what should i do... I am using event.CHANGE on colorpicker and setting the style of borderColor for the panel.

I'm creating a text editor and I want users to be able to select only part of a textfield and change the color.The problem I'm running into is the ColorPicker gains focus (I'm guessing) and the textfield loses it's "selection."All examples of text editing show the entire textfield changing color.

I have a dynamically created xml menu that I am trying to change the text color onRollOver and have it return to the original color onRollOut:[code]The section commented out is a few options I have tried with no success. The code before that changes the background color of the button. I suspect the "btntf" is out of scope inside the function, but am not sure.

How to get RGB color values out of the color picker component?
trace (cp.selectedColor);
returns something like:
16750950[code]....
I am looking for RGB, for example, 0.5 0.5 0.5, for a gray color.Is there a chance the RGB parameters are hidden somewhere or is there a conversion function at least?

Is it possible to change the background color of AS3 Color Picker component using AS3? It is always black behind the swatches and I would prefer it be white but even after alternating the skins in the library it always appears black.For example, I would like the swatch to initially be a circle which I have done and have it open to a grid of circular swatches.

How do you set the selectedColor of a colorpicker when you bind data from a database? I have a bindable variable, objProject, with a field called color and it has a color code such as #ff00ff in it. I want to set the selectedColor. I tried to cast the color as a uint, but no joy.
objProject = cmbProject.selectedItem;
c = uint(objProject.color);
<mx:ColorPicker id="graphColor" x="17" y="219" width="128" height="40"
selectedColor="{c}" editable="true" />
I did try selectedColor="{objProject.color}" and that didn't work either.

I did a search, but couldn't find my issue, which was rather surprising. I have an actionscript 3.0 component (flvplayback) and I want to simply change the highlight color from the default green color. You used to be able to do this by a style manger "halo" color or something I don't remember exactly (AS 2.0), but this doesn't work w/ 3.0 components. I thought I could double click on the component in the library, but I can't seem to change the style that way either. I have also tried to place individual items on the stage, like the play button and change the styles there, but it doesn't inherit the changes to the flvplayback component.

I can't seem to figure out how to change the color of a font or the font iteself on the button component. I'm sure it's a simple procedure. Everything seems to point you to changing the colors of the button itself, but not the font.

Does anybody know of a good, free downloadable colorpicker component for as3? I don't want to use the one by jumpeye components, so I was wondering if their was a better free/cheap one. I really don't like the default colorpicker in the flash IDE.

Previously in AS2, to set the style for a List Component when the mouse was over an item you would simple set it with
