ActionScript 3.0 :: Show Multiple Embedded Fonts Into A Html Textfield?

I'm using Flash CS5 , Actionscript 3.0 and export fo Flash Plaer 10.
I create a class, myHtmlText.as, that builds a basic TextField. I create an empty file myHtmlText.fla I embedded two fonts inside the myHtmlText.fla: "Ghotam Light" and "Ghotam Book"; I selected all characters for each font and exported for actionscript with the following linkage name: "GhotamBook" and "GhotamLight"
I wish to use the fonts embedded, in the TextField using htmlText, like this:
var tf:TextField = createTextField(10, 10, 400, 22); tf.htmlText = '<p><font face="GhotamBook">Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.</font></p>';
//tf.embedFonts = true;

but it does not work; the text is not displayed; If I use .text instead fo .htmlText, the latin text is displayed with a system font.

I have an HTML string that uses bold and italic tags which I need to apply to a TextField. I need the font to be embedded though and I can't seem to find a way to do this. From what I've read it seems that Flash needs to use the actual bold/italic versions of the font rather than just changing it with HTML? In which case I can't do it all in one textfield because you can't change font? The only solution I found was a suggestion to use the [Embed()] method rather than the method I am using (embedding the font in a library symbol) but I don't think you can do that either with Flash CS3?

i have a text field that I create in flash, when rotate it on the y axis with actionscript, I encounter problems, the text gets bigger and doesn't fit inside the text field, when i don't embed the fonts or use device fonts, it works fine, but I need the text to be consistent across all user computers, any ideas, i'm using cs4 and as3

but it doesnt aplly html tags because of embedFonts... i tried to make style using css but didnt work....

I have a setup where an air app dynamically reads files, and throws the contents to an SWF inside of it. This SWF is a Flash 10 file and contains a textField where the contents are then displayed.I want to display the text as htmlTest so i can have it formatted. However, without embedding fonts, the htmlText is jagged and unprofessional.Though it is a pain to figure out, I am able to embed fonts and display regular dynamic textField text, however i have not been able to a) embed fonts and b) display htmlText without the text disappearing.

I am trying to create a text box with actionscript, using an embedded font, and populating it with HTML text. It seems I can either use an embedded font, or HTML formatted text, but not both. To illustrate the problem, I have created a little test.
1. Create a font symbol in the library. Export it for actionscript as "_mainFont".
2. Create a dynamic text box on the stage using _mainFont and type some random text in it, including the use of bold and italics. Set the font size and colour to whatever you like. Name the instance "templateText".
3. On the first frame, type in these actions:

The textbox should display correctly, using the correct font, colour and all the HTML formatting. Unfortunately, I need to create text on the fly. So modify the actionscript to create a new text field instead of using the template text:

What happens? I get the right font. The < font color > tag works OK, I get the breaks and the underline, but I get no bold and no italics. Finally, let's make some use of the templateText box by using its formatting. Replace the line:
var textBoxFormat = new TextFormat(); with
var textBoxFormat = _root.templateText.getTextFormat();
Now the text is formatted with the right font, the same colour and size of the templateText box, but I've lost the HTML font colour and underline in addition to the bold and italics.If I take out the Embed Fonts, I get back bold and italics, but loose font colour and underline, as well as the wrong font.

I am really at a lose end with this - I have a flash file called in xml into a dynamic textfield. It works fine with English but when I try and put Greek into the xml the flash file then doesn't show the font. The font is verdana - which can be translated and I have embedded the font, with greek and made sure my xml is unicode-8 - but it still shows nothing.

i'm trying to use htmlText on a dynamic text field with embedded fonts. i've searched for an hour for an answer and i still don't have one.
on stage, there is a dynamic text field with no text. i've embedded both regular and bold versions of Myraid Pro. the text field on stage is set to regular (have to choose something). "Render Text As HTML" is selected.
the following code in my document class doesn't work:
myText.autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.CENTER;
myText.htmlText = "Not Bold <b>Bold</b>";
the html tags only work if the text field on stage is set to "use device fonts" in the anti-alias setting.

When using a StyleSheet with html text in a dynamic textfield with embedded fonts line breaks are ignored. It is as if TextField.condenseWhite is being set to true. Essentially the <p> tags are being treated as a <br/> tag. If I don't embed fonts it works fine. Another weird thing is if I add an empty paragraph <p></p> between the first two paragraphs it makes any subsequent paragraph behave correctly.
E.g.
<p>first paragraph text here</p>
<p>second paragraph text here</p>
<p>third paragraph text here</p>
Displays as if there are <br/> between each one.
But
<p>first paragraph text here</p>
<p></p>
<p>second paragraph text here</p>
<p>third paragraph text here</p>
behaves correctly even for the third paragraph.
Here is the code I am working with (using XML as I am dynamically populating the textfield from XML). After reading [URL] I tried the same experiment using a TF drawn in the IDE, the results for each, even though the TextFields are essentially the same are totally different. Updated Code accordingly - just need a TF on stage, called "ideTextField" with font 'Arial'.

After a lot of experiments and reading many articles, Q&As, I still didn't find the answers to my problem, then I decided to ask my question at great stackoverflow forum:-)
The setup of my project is as follows:
- Create an AS3 project in Flash Builder 4 (Main.as3proj), and write source code in it;
- Create graphical assets in Flash CS5;
- Load the graphical assets in the AS3 project;
In the graphical assets (swfs), there are text fields, we would like to use Embedded fonts for the text fields. But we don't want to embed the fonts in all swfs, we want to create a swf as a font library (FontLib.swf), that embed all the fonts needed across all the graphical assets (swfs).
After loading or embedding the FontLib.swf to the main application (Main.swf), the embedded fonts is availabe: TextField.isFontCompatible(myFontName, myFont)
is true. And when I create a TextField with the embedded font at runtime, it works fine. But besides this, I want to use the embedded fonts for the TextFields in other graphical assets like what I described at the begging, but when I try to change the text for the dynamic text field in a movie clip, the text field will disappear. (Before changing the text, it can be displayed because Flash CS5 automatically embed the fonts for the characters already input in the fla/swf file).
I tried to clone the text field with the same properties of the text field in the movie clip and replaced the old one, as I said, this works as other text fields created at run time. But I have other problem with cloning and replacing the text fields in movie clip. I wonder if there is a way to instruct the flash player to use the externally loaded embedded fonts for the text fields in movie clip.

Basically, there is a Flash movie embedded in the HTML TextFiled. The code is is as follows:

<p>Is there any way to make the space between embedded Flash movie above and this text more narrow ???</p>
In case there is less line breaks (<br />) the text in the last paragraph is shown truncated from the beginnng (so it's like "ny way to make the space..."). Is this a bug in Flash Player or is there any way to render text below embered swf better?

I have a dynamically loaded html enabled text field but when I used embedded fonts from the swf. It doesn't show some of the text but when I used device fonts... (from the system) it works fine. Why is that/? Can't I use embedded fonts? with a text field with contents that are html and loaded dynamically from a text file?

I save my (embedded) fonts in an external file (fonts.swf) that gets loaded at runtime. Pretty standard. I also use a bunch of UI artwork generated in the Flash IDE. Some of this artwork contains static textfields (thus, not proper TextFields that can change. Just frozen glyphs). Here's the problem: if I use the same font in any static textfield and then embed that same font into my collection of runtime fonts, the runtime font will refuse to render. It's the same effect you get if you set a textfield with embeddedFonts=true to use a font that isn't embedded. If I change the static textfields to use a different font, the runtime fonts work just fine.

Edited Short Version:The Adobe Flash docs list a property embedFonts on TextAreas:
A Boolean value that indicates whether the font specified in fontFamily is an embedded font. This style must be set to true if fontFamily refers to an embedded font. Otherwise, the embedded font is not used. If this style is set to true and fontFamily does not refer to an embedded font, no text is displayed. The default value is false. I have a page (page1) with flash content that has an imbedded mc. The imbedded mc contains a group of thumbnail /buttons that bring up larger images (Thumb2 moves the playhead to frame 2 of the mc) there is also a unique button on each frame of the mc that should bring up a unique html page (a form) for that frame reference. When page 1 loads with the mc in it's default start position at frame 1 the form button works perfectly, however none of the other form buttons work and if I click on Thumb1 (which should be the start position mc frame 1) after clicking on any of the other form buttons, the form button for Thumb 1 no longer works. Everything else works as it should and I get no error codes.
I have the code for the form buttons located in the actions layer of the main timeline as follows;

I have got 3 swf files scene1, scene2 and scene3. Out of which scene2 and scene3 are embedded inside html files named scene2.html and scene3.html. I also want to include pre-loader at every intervals between the scenes, since the total file size including images and scripts is around 4mb.

i would just like to ask why is the case that when i use embedfonts = true on a textfield, the textfield's text only resizes according to the textfield's height but not the textfield's width. meaning if i make the textfield's height bigger, the text also gets bigger in terms of height, but not width, can't the embedded font maintain aspect ratio according to the textfield height?
I'm only wondering about this because this is not the case when embedfonts= false

When you use funky/weird fonts in a fla are they embedded automatically like a PDF file? So if the viewer doesn't have that font they can still see it?

Using Flash CS3, I have created a class that when called will
1.) Create a Dynamic text field,
2.) Import external HTML into it,
3.) Apply an external CSS style sheet to it, and
4.) Place it on the stage
So far it works great, but now I'd like to be able to specify an embedded font from the css file. I followed the basic procedure for making a library symbol of the font, setting its linkage to Export for Actionscript on the first frame, and gave it a unique name "myFont"
In my style sheet, I tried using:
font-family: "myFont";
or
font-family: myFont;
but neither way seems to work.
I also found numerous tutorials on how to make it work in AS2, but nothing in AS3. When I specify embedFonts=true in the before-mentioned class, it will not display any of the text, though it does draw the box and any image contents from the html file.
