Radio Buttons - First Radio Button Never Turns Off When Clicking Others?

Feb 10, 2010

I've got a huge survey I've made with lots and lots of groups of radio buttons. There are maybe 60 questions with 6 buttons each. Of these, I have a couple of groups that are really misbehaving. What's happening is for one question, the first button in the group seems independent of the rest. That is, I can check the first radio button and it never turns off when clicking others in the same group.

All my code is right. I'm using the exact same code with all the other groups and only two groups aren't working right. Ha. That's the funny thing, though, because everything works fine IN Flash, but publishing to a web page, these two groups stop working right.FWIW, I've set the first instance of the radio button with a name like "G10" then all the buttons in the group have the group name "Q10".I've tried several ways of fixing this including deleting the whole group and adding them again, copying a working group and renaming the parts. Nothing. The one thing that has worked (and don't ask me why) but adding a new single radio button with a new instance and group name has fixed other problem groups but not these two.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Total Number Of MovieClips On Stage?

May 10, 2007

How can I find out the total number of MovieClips on stage at any one time?

I've just had to optimise a tile based scrolling game by ripping clips off and on the stage as it scrolls. I could have used gotoAndStop scrolling but I was hoping I could try clip ripping first (reorganising my entire library wouldn't keep me on schedule) - so far the overhead has been drastically reduced.

But I want to be double sure there aren't any MCs lurking (implementing this is producing rarely occuring bugs), how can I get the number of clips attached?

(There are 2 teams) The thing i have a problem with is generating the random numbers and also where exactly to drop in the actionscript in the timeline. I've tried different variations of the Math.Floor(Math.Random) but i cant seem to get it to produce the numbers i want!

ActionScript 3.0 :: Scrolling Clamped To Not Scroll Beyond The Total Number?

Jul 15, 2009

I'm trying to do something that makes sense in my head, but can only translate to code with mixed success.On the screen is 6x4 grid of boxes, 24 in total. These boxes represent a number of entries in a big visual timeline, the total of which can be anywhere from 1 to many thousand. Of course, only a fixed number of 24 can be seen at any one time.The grid scrolls left/right to show previous/future timeline entries in their box form.

The grid normally starts at the very first entry, but there is an offset built-in to it so that you can, for instance, start the display of these entries at a certain point. For instance, if you have 26 entries with an offset of 1, that means there will be 1 entry not seen to the left (before), 24 on the screen seen, and 1 entry not seen to the right (future). Or if you have an offset of 10, there would be 10 to the left (not seen) and 16 filling the space on screen, etc.The scrolling basically slides the entries left or right by a factor of 4 (since the columns consist of 4 boxes), but must be clamped to not scroll beyond the total number.

Is there some simple math anyone can think of to track the state of these boxes? I ask because I will have Flash create *only* the 24 max that can be seen at any one time. Any time you scroll to the right or left, Flash will create up to 4 new boxes to fit that next column, and then animated all 28 boxes (24 existing + 4 new) to move the new ones on (and the old ones off), and then delete the old ones. This is to keep things optimized since creating many thousands of boxes that each load external content is not very feasible.

Hope this makes sense to someone. It would be similar to what you see here, but with scrolling (and more importantly, something to keep track of it all): [Url]

ActionScript 3.0 :: Button Adds To Total Score?

Dec 3, 2009

I can find my way in Actionscript 2.0, but 3.0's hell for me. I've been following a bunch of tutorials and I suppose I understand the 'basics', although I'm beating myself over this 'cause most of you will probably consider this basic aswell.

The problem at hand : I made a few movieclips, that have a transparant button on the first frame inside of them, and on layers below it an animation that starts once you click it, then stops at the last frame.

(Example : You see a snail, you click it(but really click the transparant button that's above it) and the movieclip starts playing, showing a snail that crawls back inside it's shell, then it stops. Pretty simple, but it's a fun and easy way to have multiple interactive graphics on a page.)

The task at hand : Somehow make a score system that allows you to see how many of them you've clicked, meaning everytime you click a snail (for this example, anyway) there's a +1 function somewhere.

Currently, inside the movieclip (the transparant button) I have :

stop();
alpha_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, nextClick);
function nextClick(event:MouseEvent):void{
gotoAndPlay(2);
}

Which is pretty straight forward. alpha_btn is the button that makes the animation inside the movieclip play. At frame 30, there's a stop(); function.Then, there's the main timeline.

function scorePoints(myPoints:Number):void {
if (Number(scoreBoard.text)) {
scoreBoard.text = String(myPoints);

[code]...

It works, but only once. After the snail is clicked, I have it looped (no stop(); at the end of the moveclip, but it moves to the first frame again. Meaning, the button's there again and it's clickable again.) but everytime I click it after that, there's no points added to it.So I'll break it down to this : I need simple button that, when clicked, adds a number of points to the scoreBoard.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Add In A Radio Button To Php?

May 10, 2011

I have a form which I've had working fine. (I think I bought it ages ago hence the commentary throughout the AS!) I've now been asked to add in a radio button (2 actually but I'm starting with the one!)I've added it in, nicking this component from another form I bought, seeing as already fully reskinned the first one, but in my end email I'm getting 'undefined' as the result.So. Below is my Actionscript (I kept getting typos between the AS and the PHP which was causing me grief, hence me just calling my fields sequential alphabet letters.)

kkk (oops! that's just jumped out at me!) is the radio button - essentially I have the radio button which is 'email' or 'phone' posting to a hidden input text field called kkk. I've had this field 'unhidden' so I can confirm this works in the swf, ie the field is being populated but then this is not communicating to the php.Below the actionscript is the php.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Storing Radio Button Selections?

Jan 5, 2010

I am having some problems with a small survey swf i am making in actionscript 3. I have multiple choice questions on different frames using radio buttons and i need the users selections shown in a dynamic text button along each frame and also on the last frame of the survey.

Another problem i am getting is i need the last radio button clicked to be stored, so if the user clicks lets say 'rb_2' on frame 1, clicks next to go to frame 2, then if they were to go back to frame 1 again 'rb_2' is still selected.

Thought it would be easy using the 'Shared Object Class' but from reading tutorials i cannot get it working.
