I have a table which containt a date, a number for the number of weeks per period, and a year. the user then enters a date and I can calculate the period number from this. But I'd like to do it the other way too: Entering a period number and get the start and end date of the period from this. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the right logic.
EDIT: options[0] being the start date from the database and options[1] the number of weeks for one period.
This is the function I already have and which works:

let's say my start date it 12/12/2009, then passing 12/12/2009 to this function would return 1 since it's the first "period" from this date (in week number).
f I trace new Date().toUTCString() I get something like: Fri Aug 12 07:14:06 2011 UTC.perfect. If I trace new Date().getTime() I get some long negative number which is decreasing as I continue to trace it. This is totally unexpected.
I need the counter to count up to a set date and end on a set number. The date would be 12/31/07 and the number would be 1,000,000. Just like the current counter I would like it to reference to the users cmoputer clock.
I'm trying to build a functionality into a Flash app, which would calculate the number of days that have passed since a defined date.
The idea is that a start date would be defined in the script (in whatever format) and the application would count and return the number of days since that date. According to that number the app would determine the availability of a set of links listed in the style of a calendar. I'm gonna be using a date variable from my servers to determine the current date.
How should I proceed with this? How should the varying number of days in months be handled? What about leap year?
I have a countdown to a specific date. Mine is 31st of december 2009. But I want a number related to the countdown. So it starts with lets say 8000.Now I have the number related to the amount of days. 62 is 8000, 61 is 7500, 60 is 7000... etc. When you enter the page it checks the countdown date and relates a starting number, every 3 sec. the number goes decreases. I want to add an action to every countdown. I know there must be a better way of coding this...
The best would be that the number decreases realtime, so everytime you go to the page number changes... Does anybody know a good way of doing this or provide a related tutorial link ? I really tried to find an example, but every countdown tutorial is related to time only....

All I want to have is a page listing shows that sorts them according to date and also when the show date has passed drops that entry from view.I can do this easily enough with a database and php but want to learn how to do it in actionscript. I'm using flash CS4 and actionscript 2.0. I have a situation where I need to locate and check the date of an external file (either .exe or .swf) and return that date string to a variable in flash. I then need to display that date to a piece of dynamic text within the flash file. Is there a function within action script that will check and retrieve the file date of an external file.

I'm trying to determine the difference in time between todays date and a future date. I only need to determine how many months and days it is between todays date and this future date. Anyone know of any prebaked scripts anywhere for determining what todays date is and subtracting it from the end date would be? I have an mx:DateField in my Flex UI that has a formatString="dd.mm.yyyy" attached to it. However, the initial value for that field may not be in the format specified/defined for the DateField (due to legacy reasons). So, currently, if I just set that value (text) on the DateField, the field is shown empty. I think because it fails to accept the value in a format different than what's configured.

The reason for this is the user selects this date but I want another field to display the next date after this.I thought about using the date object to take care of this for me but I'm not sure that will work.If I pass the date object this format it returns.

I could start stripping out the currentDate and adding in lots of if statements for the month year and date and figuring out leap years but I thought the date object could solve all this.
I am experiencing a very strange behavoiour of Flex Date object. My web service is written in .Net 3.5 and all object which I am retriving or updating have Creation Date (Date Type) in .Net code.
But when I am calling .Net web service and displaying data in Flex, Flex displaying a different Date than what stored in web service. When I update my object using Flex UI, every time update time is very different than actual update time set by .Net code.
Why there are differences between AS Date and Java Date? I have a startTime field in an ActionScript class and also have a startTime in the related Java class. The time set in AS is new Date(2009,11,19,10,35,50); and then I find it has the value of 2009-12-19T10:35:50.000-0500 in the Java object.
Does anyone here know much about the date object in ActionScript? I need to find out if a date is greater than or less than a particular date, and I'm not having any luck.
I've looked for simple AS2 code to fade/alpha a MC from 100% to 20% for the past couple of hours and found nothing.Can someone kindly let me know how to make a MC fade from 100 to 20 over a period of say 1 sec with AS2?
