Flv - Flowplayer Flash Component Plays Sound But Not Video?
Jan 17, 2010The flow player will play the audio of a *.flv, but doesn't play the video and I've no idea why. The initial example page using the default flowplayer flv url works fine. When I change the url to my godaddy site, it doesn't work. I'm using Movavi Video Suite 8 to perform the conversion to flash from mp4. I think the metadata is included in the flash file when it converts, but I'm not certain. I used the meta data injector found here: [URL] to inject meta data into the flash files and it still did not work.
Also of note is that the player's progress bar shows the start, current, & end time values of the video, so I think the metadata is there. I've still no clue why this isn't working, though.
I wonder if it's my *.flv file as the player will load the mp4 file it was generated from. I used a premium application called MOVAVI Video Suite to perform the conversion. I don't think this is the case because I can upload the converted *.flv file to youtube and it plays fine.
Also worth noting is that the Flow Player plays audio and not video both when the flv source is pointed to my godaddy site as well as when its pointed to a local folder on my hard drive that contains the player, it's files, the video files, and the example .html page being used to test this.
Possibly something else worth mentioning is that I have not put the flow player files on my godaddy site yet because the video picture isn't showing locally.I have the same issue with the LongTailVideo player.

Sep 9, 2010I'm porting in an .flv to Flash for the first time. I created the .flv from an .MP4 using Media Encoder CS5, and then opened a new Actionscript 3 .fla in Flash Professional CS5, clicked File > Import > Import Video. Then selected 'Load external video with playback component'. Everything seems to have imported fine, but when I publish the SWF and import it via Dreamweaver CS5 and preview the page, the video is there, but the controls are not. There's just a white box where the controls should be. Also, the video is out of sync with the audio, which I believe is a problem with Media Encoder, not Flash.

Oct 17, 2010I am building a flash video player with a custom UI, and admittedly I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing. I tried altering a skin, but that always comes out wonky due to whatever coding they use. So I'm altering single video components and putting them in the mc what I want them. It looks great, but the problem is that when video goes to full screen, all of the controls dissappear and I can't figure out how to make them show up. How do I get a movie clip to display on top of the video when it goes to full screen in flash AS3?

Flash - How To Show DIV Over YouTube Video (Z-Index)
Aug 10, 2011I want to show a div over a YouTube video but can't get it to work. I know that if you set the wmode to transparent or opaque it should work, but I've only seen this work when the <embed> or <object> tag is used. YouTube now embeds the video in an <iframe> so when I tried it, it didn't work.

Media Server :: Flash Video Does Not Show Up Once Uploaded?
Apr 22, 2009I'm using flash to design a basic website.Within that website I want to place a .flv file. Everything works fine in preview mode and test movie mode.The problem comes when I puplish to the web.I'm just using flash to publish which puts all the files in a folder.IN previous attempts, once I load those files onto a server it does not play the .flv file.The .sfw skin will show up but the general .sfw file for the project doesn't seem to be finding the .flv file.And yes, I'm uploading the .flv file to the server.Is there something wrong with the html code that it can't find the .flv file?I can replicate this problem on my desktop by moving the .flv file out of it's project folder.Once I do that and then click the .html file the page will load but it won't find the video file.It's like it can only open that file if it's in the original project folder and the folder doesn't get moved.

Jun 21, 2010I have Background layer, Bkg_Image layer & Video layer. I have embeded the flv movie on Video layer. Though on stage it shows all the layers, but when I test the movie it shows only Background layer & Video layer. I can't see the Bkg_Image layer.
The Actions layer has external swf loading AS3 which is working fine. Only the problem with Bkg_Image layer which is imprortant for me.

Mar 1, 2011I'm trying to create an overlay containing a flash player that is shown when a user clicks on a link. The div containing the player starts with display:none in CSS. Upon clicking, the div will be shown, and JS will use ExternalInterface to configure and start the player. The JS configures the player when it catches a "flash ready" event, which is fired by Flash on ADDED_TO_STAGE.All this works, except that the ExternalInterface callbacks are never created. The JS and AS3 work fine if the player is shown upon page load, or is hidden with visibility:hidden instead of display:none. I am aware that Flash will not be initialized with display:none, and this works as expected: when the Flash is unhidden, it fires its events and correctly initializes everything else (eg. GUI, other internal stuff). The only thing that doesn't happen as expected is that my ExternalInterface callbacks are not added.
ExternalInterface.available is true. It's not a timing problem, because even after several minutes the callbacks are still not present. The strangest bit is that the flash is able to call JS, fires JS events fine, and the code to fire the events comes after the code to add the callbacks. There are no errors thrown by any of the AS3 code. I'm seeing this problem in both Chrome and Firefox.
Flash :: Show Text Layer At A Specific Time In Video?
Nov 22, 2011I'd like to play load/play one movie and show text at a specific times. In the Movie there is a scene where a board is shown. I'd like to show some text on the board when it appears. That's why I'd like to how to know when you reached a certain point.
Also about loading the video. I read there a several ways of loading a movie. What would be the best way in your opinion to load it in this situation.
1)Can this be done with the FLVPlayer component or through another way?
2) How to show a text at a specific time. Is there a function that I can use.
Flash - Play A Single NetStream But Show Different Parts Of It On Different Video Objects?
Jan 19, 2011I have 3D videos encoded with each eye's content side-by-side on each frame. What I want to do is take the left-half and over-lay it on the right-half. (I'll then change with the colors and the overlaying so that someone with blue-cyan 3D glasses can view the video).
I tried to attach a single NetStream to two video objects and offset them, but that only let the stream play on one object.
ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Buffer Bar Doesn't Show Up Until Video Is Completely Loaded
Feb 27, 2011Ok, so I have tried and tried to figure this out. Of course in the test environment everything works beautifully, but when I test my swf on my site, thats when the sh*t hits the fan.
The problem is my buffer bar wont show up until the video is completly loaded. In flash however, it loads across as the video is downloaded, like it's supposed to.

Aug 19, 2009I'm using AS3 in CS4. I created it in After Effects, and saved it out as both an flv and an f4v.I have tried creating the banner with both these files. I can see the playback fine on both publish preview and test movie. On the computer it was created on in it plays fine when I check the html file. On any other machine (my network or sending the files to someone else) you can't see the playback. The flash "holder" is there, but nothing plays back.I have tried several times but have never gotten it to work. I included the code, but most of it is generated by Flash - I added some to get the video to loop.

Dec 10, 2010I am currently working on a flash website that has several flv videos on it. Since the website layout has a slight tilt, I have had to transform the videos to slightly tilt as well. The problem that I am having is that when I do this the image becomes very pixelated and the edges of the video become jagged. I have somewhat fixed the edges issue by making a mask around it but i really dont know how to make the resolution better, or what causes it to loose resolution when slightly transformed. The size of the videos is the same as encoded. All I do is tilt them upwards on the right side a bit.

Apr 29, 2011Looking into HTML5 video tag, and researching which browsers support which video file types, and my initial thought is things just got harder than just using flash. I am wondering if there is some skeleton code (combined with development approach for videos) that someone has figured out to do the following: If flash is available, use it If not, try html5 video ogg format If that doesn't work, try html5 video h.264 format If that doesn't work, try html5 video webM format Based on what I am seeing, am I correct in thinking that now, in order to accommodate all users on all browsers, a video needs to be published in 4 formats? If so, this HTML5 video thing is an epic fail!
