Flex :: Very Odd Null Object RTE On FocusManager

I am getting this error, randomly when I start my application (and it's sub applications). As you can see the stack trace is rather useless, although through the debugger I can see the parent of container (second in the stack) is an MXML class that has a repeater that repeats another component. Therefore I guess the component with the problem is that repeated component, although I am unsure what I can change to stop this from happening. If anyone can give me some insight to the FocusManager or the getFocus() function it would be really handy.[code]

We are trying to automate our flex application. After adding automation libraries to our project we get the following exception:

If I set an Object = null, does that remove all references to the Object's variables assuming there are no external references to said variables? Or do I have to manually set all said variables = null?

I have function init, which runs on the creationComplete of the application. The init calls get_login_share_object funtion, in which objects are created, which are null.
Now my problem is that, I get a null object reference error on the Alert in "init()". How can I avoid that. Is it possible that I can have a check to see, if the objects are null the program should just skip reading the objects.

the script i wrote is working fine. but the script attached to the flash player which i have no control over is throwing a script error (im using IE8).how can i fix this? if i run it locally there is no error.

When you cast null to an object using Object(null), the result is an object.When you cast undefined to an object using Object(undefined), the result is an object.But saying null as Object or undefined as Object remains null.Why is this? I can't find anything in the documentation about this.
The objects that result from these casts can have properties set on and read from them. It's as if the cast created information, or removed whatever special information the null and undefined values have. But there's no indication in the AS3 documentation that the null and undefined special types are actually objects.

I am trying to use a button in my init() method.

I have a flex application which use DragManager.When I'm loading this application into flash application and trying to use drag'n'drop functions - I get an error:

I am trying to add an EventListener to a MC, but I am getting the 1009 error. My script is referencing a MC that does exist. I have verified that my code is typed correctly, and that my instance names are correct.I am creating a portfolio site. On the first frame I have my main navigation (well, it's actually not the first frame. I alpha-fade everything in so it's really the 6th or 7th, but I'm not sure how pertinent that is). The main navigation works fine (5 movie clips, fyi). Clicking them will move to a different frame, and the information and sub navigation for the frame will fade up. It is the sub navigation that I am having trouble with.[code]
As you can see, it doesn't even get to the function before it gets thrown off. I have verified that the instance names are correct. The script and the MC I am trying to add it too [I/]are[I/] in the same frame, which is what's stumping me. Normally you get 1009 when the object you're trying to reference is not there, but mine is!!Obviously there is something wrong with my EventListener. I am not sure what else do; there is a gap in my understanding of AS.

I have two AS3 projects. In one of them, I have a class where I import the FocusManager just fine...
import fl.managers.FocusManager; In the other project, I have a class with the exact same import line, but I get an error that the definition can't be found. I know it's spelled correctly because Flash is autofilling the text after I enter "fl." and then I choose "managers" and then "FocusManager". Both are set to export for player 9. I can't think of any other differences. Why would it find the definition sometimes and not others?

I'm using Flash CS5 Components in an App. I want to allow the user to tab around.
I want a modal popup window to show and for the tab loop to switch from the main UI to the modal window UI.
Using FocusMangers should allow me to do this but I'm struggling to get anything working. The tabbing continues back out to the main UI instead of sticking in the window.

I'm new to flex and actionscript. I'm trying to create a small flex app that has multiple states, but if I have nested containers, it looks like some of the objects are not getting initialized when I expected them to be, even when I have the creationPolicy set to "all."I've reduced the issue to a small example, with a commented block showing when it does work.sing the existing code, I get this error: "TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference at main/init()" and the event handlers are not installed.If I instead use the commented block, which has the Panel and VBox elements removed, it does work.I know I could add a click attribute to the mxml elements, but this is just a simplified example, and I'm more interested knowing why the objects are not initialized when the app loads.

I have an Movie Clip in Flash that have subobject of button type which has subobject of input text and movie clips. Right after creation core Moveclip all subobject are set to null, when I expect them to be valid objects.

MC_Core_design was created in Flash and exported to Actionscript. I've done this for button_1 class aswell. The code was written using Flex. When I comment out both lines that result in error I get correct view of the core Movie clip with all subobject. How can I set subobject properties right after object creation?

I have an object which is assigned a number of properties:

but I'm not quite sure where to place this. If I place it outside of the object constructor, I get "term is undefined", I guess because it doesn't know what project_clips_array is - but if I declare project_clips_array in the constructor, it appears to need to be defined, i.e. I can't create a blank property. But I can't place it in the constructor either, because it doesn't seem to allow me to run a function within an object constructor. What is the proper syntax or arrangement of code for executing this function to get the array within the object?

I want to create a tab-enabled popup window in an AS3 Air project. Currently, when I press tab several times, the focus goes through all the components in my popup window and then starts focusing the buttons and TextFields from the components that are behind the popup.
