I have Basic Authorization mechanism on the server for WSDL/SOAP. How I can send "Authorization" header through Flex WebService?
Simplified example:

I am trying to access html files protected by basic authentication. Below is the code to do that but I still get the authentication dialog. I checked the fiddler and found that for the first request authorization header is present but for the subsequent requests which is requested to load the .js, css & images the authorization header is not added. This is the reason I am getting the auth dialog.
Is there a way to add authorization header to the subsequent requests as well?

We have Flex applications that connect to our ASP.NET 3.5 Web Applications and usually download lot of data. Now considering XML as transport, for every item, it transmits meta data twice for example.. instead of transferring int value as <Customer CustomerID=23/> it transmits <Customer><CustomerID>23</CustomerID></Customer> .. now here is where bandwidth conservation becomes an issue.
FLEX Can not read GZip and DEFLATE compressed HTTP Response ( So cant use any of them )I heard of some WSCompression but it requires WSE 3.0 now I am skeptical to introduce too many dependency in my hosting environment which requires too much management and overheads. Is WSE 3.0 only dll library which requires no installation on production server? Does it require rewriting all WebService attribute? Or is it simple one time configuration and more or less, anyone knows does it work with Flex ? Flex dynamically generates web services, and we use lot of its auto generated code, now if we want to support compression then do we need to rewrite lot of code?
Simplest solution I can think of is, reduce unnecessary XML tags and reduce them down to attributes to save bandwidth. Is there an easy way to achieve it, our classes has more then 50-70 properties, I understand it will be nightmare to add attributes to each property but we dont know how to do it in case of SOAP.

Here is an example: Handling web service results that contain .NET DataSets or DataTables So, I know how to use result.Tables.<tablename>.Rows and the like. But what I cannot seem to figure out or find online is how to go the other direction - a method to pass objects or tables back to the .NET Webservice from Flex, without stooping to passing XML as a string, or making huge web service methods that have one parameter for each property/column of the object being stored. Surely others, smarter than I, have tackled this issue.
I am using ASP.NET 2.0 Typed DataSets, and it would be really nice if I could just pass one object or array of objects from Flex to the web service, populate my Typed DataTable, and do an Update() through the corresponding typed TableAdapter. I'm developing a Flex 4.5 app and in it I have a viewstack of 2 components that use some of the same services. Currently the only way I can get the app to correctly use the web services is by defining 2 different web services that use the same PHP web service file. For example: I have an app, and within it I have a viewstack with tab navigation of 2 components: #1) retrieve a list of all Salary Employees, and #2) retrieve a list of all Contractors. Currently to get it working I am defining a UsersTableEmployees webservice within component #1 and a UsersTableContractors webservice within component #2, but they both point to the same PHP class, and only differ in the arugment value I pass to them. Ie, getUsers("employee") and getUsers ("contractors"). Of course this is not best practice.
Searching StackOverflow and Google gives me many results about ColdFusion and MVC (example What's the best way to share data between components in Flex?), but I'm still confused. Can anyone here point me to a basic example (even sample MVC) and source code of an app that uses Zend AMF and allows different components to call common web services?
I have an air app and I want to add proxy-authorization header whenever my client is behind a proxy. I am adding 'proxy-Authoriztion' header in urlRequest headers but still I am getting the OS prompt for username/password.

I want to create a collection containing a list of the 40 room objects based on the xml above.
How can I map the objects from my xml to an object using e4x?

I have an application that is coded using Flex 3 on UI side and java @ the service layer, along with BlazeDS. Now we need to authorize the users accessing the system based on the roles that are defined for them in the database, e.g. : say a user with role guest should not be able to access Admin tab on ui and also should not be able to do any operations other than viewing the data displayed on dashboard. Also the point to note here is that roles can be created dynamically by Super users from UI. I came across this link which describes how to perform Role Based Authentication & Authorization. With this approach I need to define the roles in service-config.xml but since my roles are not pre-defined I cannot go with this.

Now i wanted to host this on IIS. So i created released built. However after deploying on IIS. I receive error : "Security error accessing url.Unable to load WSDL. What would be the best way to secure .net web services used by a flex application (both desktop and browser) that requires login? I thought about requesting the user and password in every method of the web service, and having them stored as variables in the flex app, but I don't feel like this is the most elegant way.
