I have this text "my text is <b>bold</b> and regular".
I want "<b>bold</b>" to be... well, let's say... bold !
I have a mask layer under which there is a text field.
The text field shows htmlText, and i must embed chars. If not embedded, it doesn't display because of the mask. So the solution of importing 2 user fonts ( one bold and one regular) does not work.
I have a strange issue where a dynamic text field will not show a bold version of a font (Gerstner BQ) if the regular version is on the stage in a static text field.Remove the static text field and the dynamic text field displays the bold font correctlyI have created a test FLA to reproduce this and by turning the layer with the static text field on and off (Publish settings -> Flash -> include hidden layers [unchecked]), the issue is quite clearhis issue is so big for me that I have had to abandon a project in CS5 and start again in CS4 just to work around this.
View 19 Repliesi'm using a font called "AGBookBQ-Regular" in a dynamic text box, which loads a text file. i understand that to include the bold and italic options, i have placed another text box just out of view off the stage with these two options selected.italic works fine but the bold makes very little difference... it only stretches the font slightly.i've searched for the answer to make a much bolder font and it seems you can use a specific bold font as the bold font.i've tried this, but nothing happens. i think i'm interpreting it correctly, but if someone could please confirm this works and perhaps explain it a little clearer (using my specific font names... "AGBookBQ-Regular" and "AGBookBQ-Medium" as the bold font).

-Fontname "verdana"
-size "14"
-style "Bold"
it is shown the correct font in BOLD if there is no value.It will not show the correct font properties am not getting the bold style :(
Anybody know the trick to getting both bold and regular text in a dynamic text field? I can do it with system fonts no problem (using htmlText), but the client wants copy to be Futura Medium and Futura Bold. I'm pretty sure this isn't the first time anyone's had to do this.
View 1 RepliesI have a linked movieclip that contains two textfields.One of the textfields needs to have regular and bold text, so I thought I would use htmlText however it's only showing the regular font that I embedded?I made the textfield in Flash and called it "details".I also tried to make another textField in the symbol called, "invisi" and I set it not visible:invisi.visible = false;I embedded the BOLD version of the font in the invisi textfield, hoping this would make the "details" text field show the bold font...but no luck.

View 7 RepliesIf you're creating a htmlText field via the createTextField method, is there a way to get html formatting like <b></b> to show up if you are also embedding a font? I'm guessing not, since you can only embed a single font in a TextFormat, and you would have to embed both italic and bold variants too to make it work. Is this true?Maybe I'm better off creating a generic text field on the stage with both bold and italics embedded, and use the attachMovie method instead?This is my code:

First off let me say I did try creating an extra text field off of the main stage set to Bold, and it's Verdana so I'm not exactly "selecting" a second font file all together to be embedded. Instead I am just setting the textfield property Bold to ON.
SO FAR I am not sure what I am doing wrong, but it does not want to go Bold. Aside from using Flex, which I know nothing about.
In the Flash IDE, I have made a dynamic text field bold. When the Flash is compiled and run, the bold styling disappears. How do I retain the bold styling?

I have loaded text on flash from an external txt. file. But when it comes to adding html to the files such as "font face" or to simply bold the text it won't work, I have check to have the html clicked on Flash, but the text just wont change.

This is dynamic text from an XML file. I've embedded the fonts [Verdana regular and bold - OpenType] in Flash CS5 but the bold won't display even though the special characters do display [Jónsi].

The first project i checked out, a bug jumps up.when you create a texfield on stage, make it html text. set it to verdana or arial regular, emded the basic symbols.give the textfield a name and try to make some bold text using actionscript.

preview it and every thing stays regular.the only way to get right is to embed the font styles in your library. but for some of the more special symbols, that's not good enough.that's the only reason i re-installed flash cs3, after thinking maybe that was the problem.
I have a dynamic textfield being populated with an xml files' content. I then have a css stylesheet loaded into format the text. This all works great, but what doesn't work is the ability to bold some of the words in that text. I have both the regular and bold versions of the font embedded into the swf, I can test out just a bold block of text and it works fine. The css is also working as it will change the size of the text that I tell it to. Everything is working, but for some reason I am not able to get the bolder version of the font to display in the same text box as the regular one. I have also tried to change fonts but had the same outcome.

I read somewhere that a font with bold and italics needs to be "available". I'm just using a textfield with Arial as the font - which is embedded.

I have a text field in Flash (CS4, using AS3), the font is set to Helvetica Neue, and it looks fine as a static text field, but looks bold when it is set to dynamic. What causes this? Is there anyway around this problem (other than setting the field to static)? Is there a way to control tracking with TextFormat in AS3? You can control leading with the object, but I can't seem to find a way to put more space between letters.
View 2 RepliesI've been struggling with this problem for a while:I have a string containing HTML and I'm using a regular expression to get the characters between the tags. I'm then attempting to apply a TextFormat to those characters.The problem is that I'm using the TextField's "htmlText" property instead of it's "text" property (because I don't want the HTML tags to be visible). So, the character index that's returned from the regular expression is incorrect, when I apply the TextFormat.Here is some sample code which illustrates the problem:

If that is not possible, than could their alpha's be random but not any lower than 50%. I know AS3 does 0-1 but how would you force it to not be lower than a certain number?

I have an xml-based mp3 player which loads the track titles into dynamic text fields from an external .xml file and I can't get the text to bold. I have "use device fonts" checked. If I select the text field in Flash and change the color or size those attributes will change in the published version, but... when I click the B button, it won't render the text bold in the published version.Do I have to add additional font formatting in the actual ActionScript? View 5 RepliesI'm trying to update an old CS3 project, which had a dynamic text field with HTML formatted text using the <b> tag to create bold text in places. In the CS4 version the bold text simply doesn't show up. It does in the CS3 version. I have embedded the font in both regular and bold varieties, both by using the offstage empty text field method, and the font in library method. I simply can't get it to work. I've seen other people having this problem with CS4 on other forums, but no solutions or workarounds as yet.
