Apr 13, 2009How can I use sendAndLoad to call a php page with flash, and have that page create a user download box, to save a txt file? I have the php code that outputs a text file:

That would force a download box if you ran the php page but the send and load will not get it to work.

Jun 23, 2004I want to get an idea on how the majority of people structure the flash websites they make.First, do most of you actionscripters, when creating a website, use a parent movie that holds the sites navigation and an embedded blank movie clip to load individual content pages? I get the feeling that is true because it saves a lot of space in your swf file.
That was the easiest question. Next, when you create a transition effect to keep the viewer occupied between loading different pages, how do you usually go about this?Assuming you have a blank movieclip in the main SWF to load individual page content.Do you have a movieclip animation that is called in the main SWF that is a layer above or masks the container movieclip which is loading the external content? Or, do you have the transition in the actual content SWF, with a transition in effect, midframe with the content, then transition out effect.
It seems the second choice might be a little more repetitive, but maybe a little more simple, then again, maybe not.My last question is not actionscript but javascript.I want to load my flash file from a link on an html page that launches a new window that is perfectly sized around the flash movie, with none of the menu bars and that works on windows(ie, netscape, opera) and MACs.As a secondary, if its possible,I would like to have the flash movie pop up into the center of the screen, right now it pops into the top left corner.Here is the script I have. It works for PCs with IE, but a friend that looked at it on her MAC had to resize the window:

Jul 11, 2005I have an HTML page with buttons. Each button needs to have a getURL to open the Flash site, but then somehow, needs to also load the appropriate swf into that Flash site... My reasoning is because I have some scripts under my site that need to be in HTML (or PHP) for search engines, that way I don't have to do the whole site in HTML.. I hate having a HTML index page, but it's the only solution I could come up with. So, when a visitor selects any of the navigation buttons, I don't want them to have to select that button again, when the Flash site loads. how to do this for Flash 7 / AS 2.0? Or if there are any posts here about it?

Jun 29, 2009I have created a small image gallery for use in a CBT Program.What I am looking to do is, each image in the slide when clicked needs to go to a separate html page.I currently have it working as far as being able to execute a single External Call to go to a HTML Page, but it is working for the entire gallery not individual pictures.I am thinking of separating the way the MC are loading into the container, then tying External Calls Specific to the individual clips.

May 15, 2010I'm loading from my main page an external js file, with a function.
I have a flash file in the main page invoking the javascript function.
Everything worked very well until when the javascript code was in the main file, but when I moved javascript to an external file the function seems not called anymore.
So... there is no way to move the javascript code to an external file ? Or any other solution ?

Jul 1, 2010I have a site where all the pages have a common SWF embedded at the top (Nav and banner), but the rest of the page is HTML.Everything is working fine, but I'm finding the 'independence' between the HTML and Flash is making for some sloppy transitions from page to page.I was expecting the SWF to be delayed, at least for the first page visit(and I have a preload routine inside the swf to make it's delay and appearance a bit more visually pleasant), but was surprised to sometimes find the SWF appearing and playing while the HTML content was delayed (resulting in a SWF floating in black).What I'm wondering is if there's a way I can do some sort of preload on my index page.BUT, not the standard one that I'm sure everyone would suggest (like the javascript image 'preload', or the newer 'css visibility' preload trick). The problem with the standard one is that it doesn't check to see if everything is loaded.What I'm after is a routine on my index page that invisibly loads some of the elements from my inner pages (common swf, maybe some of the images) and WAITS until it's done before moving to the inner pages (displaying the company logo and/or a load status in the meantime).Many people would suggest a preloader inside the common SWF on my inner pages (which I have), but the problem with that on its own is that it doesn't stop the HTML from displaying.
I'm trying to figure out a way to do a preloader (like those in a SWF, which loops until everything is loaded) that controls both the SWF AND the HTML.Recently, I found that you can use one swf to preload another, which would be a potential solution, as I could make an SWF on the index page whose sole purpose is to load (invisibly) the common SWF, displaying the load status and then loading an inner html page once it's done.Problem is, I have bee having trouble finding the coding for that, as most searches for preloaders end up being about standard preloaders, where it's monitoring the same SWF that the code is on, as opposed to controlling a second, external SWF.Can someone point me to or provide me with the proper coding/procedure for a preloader that controlls a second external swf or give me a better solution?

Jun 5, 2011I have a flash mp3 player that lives in the root on my server, I have members on my site that each have their own folders which have an xml file in them for their uploaded mp3 files, my question is, how do I get as3 to call from the player to the xml file for whichever member page is being viewed, for example, if you were viewing members/profile.php?id=1, the player which is on the profile.php page calls to the playlist.xml file in the id folder '1' I know I can use the xml load function but how would I get the members/$id in there
