I'm attempting to load an external SWF that's hosted on a site into a local SWF file. The external SWF is in a password-protected directory using htaccess.

View 1 RepliesI'm making a loader.swf to load a menu.swf file. I'm done this dozens of times the same way and it has worked perfect. But this time...when I load my menu and trace it out, the loader keeps loading and reloading the menu.swf infinitley and I don't know why.
The only thing I've discovered is that my menu.swf file will load just fine IF I delete all of the actionscript from it. If there is even a comment in there the infinite loop starts again.

I'm very new to flash - I'm trying to use a pre-loader that loads an external SWF file. Its working except the percentage in the bar is actually reflecting how much of the entire page is loaded, not how much of just the flash banner is loaded. The result is that the percentage bar is still visible over the top of the flash banner when it begins to play and the percentage bar continues to load until the whole page is loaded.

Today, we can create password protected swfs using various content generation tools. When the user opens that swf, he/she needs to enter a password, and only then the encrypted swf can be viewed.Now, I am trying to load one such encrypted swf in a flex based AIR application, and I am using the SWFLoader class for that. But instead of the user entering the password, I want the application to provide the password at the time of loading the swf. Is this even possible? I tried googling, but nothing came up.

When I copy the adress into the browser the jpg-file ist displayed corretly.
I have an as3 preloader on the main timeline of my project1.swf It works ok if I test the swf by itself, but when I try to load it into my portfolio file through component loader, the preloader doesn't do anything, it acts as if everything is loaded. Once a user successfully logs in(via .net webservice) the app loads in XML files, images and audio files via Loader/URLRequest objects and uses the loaded data to render the test on screen.This all works fine but recently the decision has been made to put the XML and media files used by the tests in a password protected directory for extra security.I was wondering if anyone has any experience loading files into Flash from password protected folders. From what I can see online I could specify the username and password for the folder as HTTP request headers using a URLRequestHeader object and set the requestHeaders property of the URLRequest to this URLRequestHeader obj. But this only seems a possibility with the POST method and I am using GET.Also even with the POST method there seems to be issues with sending a HTTP Authorization header in player versions before 9.0.124Is what I am trying to do possible or is it not allowed due to Flash security restrictions?

I have my flash setup so that it stores information in an XML file. It grabs the current XML file and then appends the new data to the end of the XML file. It does this by using the short PHP file below:

The problem is that I want to make it so people can't just go and grab the data.xml file. How do I protect the data.xml file so that no one can access it unless it is accessed via the Flash?
I have tried messing with some .htaccess settings but can't seem to get it to work. I was thinking I could create some kind of .htaccess setting so that the data.xml file would be password protected and only the swf and php file could have access to it.
I have a silly little question. One specific page on a site I work on needs to be protected with logins and passwords. All it is, is a list with downloads - consisting of files for students. Both the list (htmltext) and the downloads are inside a protected folder.
My question is: What's the easiest way to include this into my flash site ? (the site is completely flash).
I initially had two ideas: One was to make a popup appear that loads the protected file, and when people don't have access, I can show them a self made error page.A nicer thing would be to have the text file load dynamically into flash, but when a user doesnt have access, they get directed to the same error page again...
I got this very strange behavior from FlashPlayer debugger 10.1 r82. When I call loader.load method, no ADDED event is dispatched to the loader object. But if I open the file and call loader.loadBytes instead, an ADDED event is dispatched to the loader object. I suspect the ADDED event is dispatched because the content is being set as the child of Loader object, but why in the other case it is not dispatched?

I have a main "shell" swf which, by clicking several buttons, will load/unload various external swfs into a Placeholder_mc which resides on the main timeline in Shell.swf In the documentation and tutorials I've seen a couple different methods, and I'm not sure I quite understand the difference, or at least the reason you would use one over the other...In the 1st method, you can just add the Loader object using the addChild() method:

I am hosting a site that has some flash in it.Now a different site is linking directly to the flash, causing massive traffic for me. The problem: I do not gain any ads which would help me pay the server bills.I thought it would be OK to redirect the direct link to the flash to the site containing it.

I have a site that has the main path under password protection. I also have a subfolder that have a separate (htaccess/htpasswd) password protection. For some reason, when I access the subfolder, I'm asked to put in my id/password twice. All of the files that are referenced are under the subfolder.
What should I be doing to troubleshoot this? I've tried this on different browsers and it's the same behavior. There is one main html page with a .swf (the only thing on the page)...it loads other assets but they are within the same subfolder.
Client has a flash navigation menu on his website. When the site is accessed via [URL] the hardcoded links in the flash nav load pages properly. When accessing the website via the [url] the site navigation links can not load the proper pages and instead just redirect the user to the root domain.
I assume this can be fixed with a change to the .htaccess but I do not know how flash handles these links.

Where "this" relates to the movie clip holder object it is currently in. My question is why the top left corner of the loaded swf is always placed in the center of the holder, and not at the top left corner of the holder? Is this a default action or something?
