ActionScript 1/2 :: LoadVars.sendAndLoad() Between Parent And Popup Window?

Having not used PHP in conjuction with Flash before the last few day, I'm a bit stuck.I have a PHP file which will contain a list of online courses, each with their own link to to launch them. The link to launch the course will contain data such as:
- A book mark that will be read when the flash movie loads to determine which page to go to.
- The current score of the student
- Wherever or not the student has compelted the course.The links open the course in a new popup window, and I am trying to send the PHP variables from the new window to the parent page, without much success.
If I use LoadVars.send(); then the whole works ok, updating the variables and the PHP page, but opening it in a new window, instead of just refreshing the existing page.I have tried getting my head around sendAndLoad, but it doesn't seem to work?Current the "courselist.php" file looks like this:

I need to close the popup(adobe flex), non modal window if I click on the parent page of the popup. I have to do the out of focus check and then do some validation before close the popup. So what I was thinking that is there any inbuilt focus check event or do we need to create custom event for that?

I'm using very successfully the "loadVars.send()", using the POST method. BUT I did not expect to see a popup browser window!? I can shut it down using another javascript, but get a confirmation message (because I didn't open up that unwanted browser window using js)... Is there any way I can call a loadVars send without the popup browser window? I am using: myVars.send ("Aurora.php", "POST"); Using: myVars.send("Aurora.php", "_blank", "POST"); or myVars.send ("Aurora.php", "", "POST"); gets me the same pop up window.

I am trying to figure out how to open a pop up window in my Air application, in a secondary Window, instead of the main application window.I am using the ReusableFX components, which include a custom DataGrid with filtering and other capabilities. The filtering feature displays a pop up window via PopUpManager when you click on the top of a column in the grid.
PopUpManager.addPopUp(this, FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication as DisplayObject);
The problem is that the pop up window opens in the main application - I am assuming because of the 'topLevelApplication' reference.So, I need a way to open this window in the current Air "s:Window". I am assuming I need a way to walk up : this.parent.parent or this.owner.owner - though I have tried that and it did not seem to work (it said null reference).OR, is there a way to get the current top most window / component (NOT the main application / window)?
Update:I decided to create a new project for the component, and add in the Air libraries. Now I am able to access the "NativeApplication.nativeApplication.activeWindow" call. That gives me the correct Air window. However, it does not seem to be working:
PopUpManager.addPopUp(this, NativeApplication.nativeApplication.activeWindow as DisplayObject);
My popup does not appear. I am assuming because "activeWindow" is not actually a DisplayObject?(so how do I get the DisplayObject if that's the case?)

From what I understand, LoadVars.sendAndLoad( ) is generally used to request variable data form a server. I am trying to download an image (which can be returned to me as a bitmap, jpeg, or png depending on my a variable i pass to the server in the sendAndLoad command.
Is this possible? If so, what object do I specify as the target object in the sndAndLoad( ) command?[code]...

I'm using the following code to create a sendandLoad loadVars Object but it suddenly quit returning data and no matter what i do i cannot return a value.i'm useing aspx to return the value the response code looks like this. Response.write("success = success"); Ive also tried Response.write("&success = success"); but neither works and i also don't send data here is my code.

I am having problems with loadVars over https. What I am trying to do is sending credit card information from a flash store to a PHP-script on a server over https, and the PHP-script should return a reply. (So I am using the LoadVars sendAndLoad command). The problem is that the reply I get from the script is empty. If I try the same over http, it works fine.

I'm writing a very simple flash app (AS 2) to sign users up to an email newsletter; the way it works is that it uses LoadVars to hit a (same-domain) PHP script via POST with the user's email address. The PHP script then passes the info through to another domain via curl to sign up the user.
So far, so good, and it works on roughly 70% of the computers on which it's been tested (it's being tested live from the website, not locally). However, on some computers, it doesn't appear that the LoadVars.sendAndLoad call is being made, as the email addresses sent from those computers aren't showing up on the subscriber list. I know that the PHP script still works on those computers as I've made a barebones HTML form that acts in exactly the way the Flash app does (POSTs to same PHP script with same variables, etc) and it works on all computers.

I have a flash menu which is currently loading its contents via a ever-changing XML file... well this has always been a good thing and worked just fine... until the release of AOL 9.0, which for some reason causes the XML to stop loading.So I found a workaround for this... rather than calling "menu.xml" I have this sript called "proxy.asp" which loads the "menu.xml" file into it via some sort of crazy .asp tunneling and object creation. I know it can return Strings, but I need to learn how to send 2 variables out - ID and progID - and then based on that I will have the "theURL" variable in the proxy.asp file load the appropriate menu.xml file. how do I setup a sendAndLoad() with the LoadVars() and return XML from the proxy.asp?

i'm using the centered pop up window script from: [URL]. i have multiple buttons in my flash movie which open screenshot html pages in external browser windows. the script works fine except when a popup window stays open. the rest of the buttons don't open/replace past that one popup. i tried changing the window name in the onRelease script to screen1, screen2, etc for each button, but that didn't work.

Go to [URL]. Click on "The Photos". It will pop up in a fullscreen window. Try resizing the window and you'll notice that the background is vector and it looks like the scale mode is set to "showAll". BUT, the photos look like they have a separate scale mode set to "noScale". They don't resize.

What can I do to let it open in a new window and given the same properties to this new window as above: toolbar=No,location=No,scrollbars=No,status=No etc.... a geturl opens it in a new window but does not give toolbar=No,location=No,scrollbars=No,status=No etc.... properties to the window

I'm trying to create a pop up window in Flash which also fades the background window to 75% black. When the user closes the pop up window, I'd like for the parent window to un-fade back to normal. Is this possible? I can do the first half of it and make the background window fade to 75% black. The difficult thing is making it fade back to normal when the user closes the pop up window.My thoughts are that I need to attach some code to the browser's built in close window button. It might require some javascript or a fscommand. I'm not sure.

I am trying to open a new browser window popup from Flash. I am using:

What is supposed to happen is that the popup should open in a new smaller window whilst the original window keeps displaying the flash file. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Is there a better way to go about this? NOTE: I know that you can call JavaScript functions and house your js in the HTML file, but I cannot edit the HTML file since it is a page from a remote site.
