ActionScript 2.0 :: Browse Files - Component?
Jul 16, 2003Id like to know how to make a very simple script that uploads files to a server.The file should be accessed by a "browse"-button in the .swf-file, and then put into a folder.

I CAN load images successfully if they are in the same folder (directory) as the Flash application I am creating. IDE :: FLV Player - Allow User To Browse Folders For Uploaded Files
Jan 30, 20091) I am working on a custom FLV player for a website. The users will upload various FLV files onto folders on the server and I would like the users to have the ability to browse those folders and select a video to play.
2) Also, as I will be having the users upload their videos via fileReference in Flash, as soon as their upload of a particular video is complete, I would like the video they just uploaded to begin playing or be loaded and ready to be played. Is there a good way to pass the video name directly into the FLV player on the completion of the download so it can begin playing or at least be ready to play?
Flash :: Using Standard OS Dialog To Browse For Files And Directories In Action Script 3.0
Dec 22, 2009I know very little about Flash so I apologize in advance for asking what is possibly a dumb question, although I did a fair bit of research before posting. Our current Flash app, written in AS3.0, is able to display a standard OS browse dialog for the purpose of allowing a user to select files. We are using [URL] to display this dialog.
The documentation for FileReferenceList states that only files could be selected. The new requirement is to allow the user to select directories as well as files. Afterward it would be very nice, but not required, to be able to get a recursive list of all the files in the selected directory. Is it possible to implement this in Flash running inside a browser? The closest I've seen so far is [URL] which does what I want but it only seems to work inside Adobe AIR and is not exposed to the browser.

The image loads but it does not "take the place" of the "pic_loader" movieClip like it did in As2. The main issue is I am getting this erroe message:

Sep 21, 2011I am developping a player with Articulate Presenter and Flash. I would like to put thumbnails that are in a special folder in swf, into a scrollPane. The scrollPane itself is in a clip loaded when I click on the Thumbnails Tab.
Here is my simplified code :

Well, my problem is that the ScrollPane is not scrolling until the end of the thumbnails, so I don't know if all the thumbnails are loaded. And even worse, exactly one time on two, the Scroll Bar is not showing at all ... !is it a scrollPane pb ? I use it many times in other parts of my project without any problem ... or is it because there are too many thumbnails ? I have around 30 - 40 to load ..

Jun 11, 2007Using the MovieClipLoader class, what is the difference between loading the external files into a Loader Component or into an empty movie clip. Will one be quicker? They both worked for me, but I've read using the Loader Component is better. Can anyone confirm this? I would think that avoiding components would make things faster/less file size.

Little Video Player (1 Playback Component, 3 Buttons Linked To 3 .flv Files) Not Working In The Published Html?
Oct 12, 2009everyone out there that is smarter than me. I have made this little prototype video player, and it isn't working. It'll eventually become a nice little player show videos from our summer camp for the last few years, but first I want to make it work in a basic stripped down version. There is a playback component with one of the skins right above the three buttons.

so, basically,i am checking to see if the cancel button component in the Child component, while i am still in the parent Compoent, was clicked, if it was clicked, call the cancelButtonHandler. The problem is by the time the addNewChild handles the event, that cancel button was still null. My question is how do i solve this without using the itemCreationPolicy on the cancel button?

May 25, 2010I am trying to call the browse() method of the FileReference class from JavaScript (a user clicks on a text that uses the ExternalInterface to call a method in Flash).Unfortunately, I receive an error that tells me it has to be a direct action of the user (like clicking a button). I have searched through Google and realized this is a new security feature in Flash 10.The only solutions I could find was to put a Flash button or to have a hidden flash button over the text, that will call the browse() method.I wanted the browser only to show JavaScript and all the Flash code only called from JavaScript.

Nov 4, 2009I'm having troubles with a contact form containing two file uploads (two buttons with Filereference.browse()-call). On all of my computers, the form works fine (Mac + PC); my client, however, reports a 20-second delay on opening the second browse dialog box (the first one opens right away). Client is on a Mac with latest Flash player version. If he double-clicks it, there is no delay. If he first clicks the second button, the delay is on the first.

Nov 9, 2009I have created an image cropper application that upload an image, crop it and generates an jpg to server.BUT, this works perfectly well locally at my Mac at work, online on the server, but not locally at my laptop at home???Why and what the *** can I do?Everything seems fine. I click browse, and the fileReference opens the finder dialog box. But whatever I press, doubleclick the image, press select etc, flash tracks this as if I clicked cancel. The fileRef.onCancel activates, insted of the onSelect???Could it be something wrong with my flash program? Is it anything I can do to fix this (change somthing in the preferenced etc.)?
