ActionScript 2.0 :: Building GetURL Query Strings With Variables

I have a querystring passing a var to my .swf. This var is getting into the movie fine and I can output it in a text box, but I'm having problems "rebuilding it" into my new getUrl. Here's what I have:

getURL("index.cfm?searchtype=" & _root.searchtype & "");
}
What I'm looking to see interpreted by the browser is:

}
(where the value of _root.searchtype is "OH"). [URL]

Basically, I have a URL to a SWF, but I need to get some info to the SWF on load. So the FlashVars seemed like a perfect fit. the link+query string -> HTML page using SWFObject 2.x to embed the SWF ->JavaScript to use the "document.location.search" in order to get the query string.

I have a strange problem loading external assets from local files with Loader() Class in AS3. If i use query string in the file name, the asset don't loads.

I'm having to work on some old AS2 stuff and my AS2 brain is sadly atrophied.

Is working fine, passing all the variables into the URL. The question is... why? I can't see any mechanism whereby getURL is given all the variables defined above. Does it pass in all local vars by default?

basically i have an array full of url's with query strings (page.html?var1=hi)
I'm doing a getURL(array[0]); and the result i get is just the page.html without the query string. it basically seems to be ignoring everything starting from the ?. I tried to url encode the ?

I'm currently trying to use the FLVPlayback component and pass a source FLV that's living on a cloudfront webserver. The problem is that the cloudfront requires authentication in the form of query strings in the source FLV. For example:[code]It adds on "&FLVPlaybackVersion= 2.1" to the end.I saw a different article that said I should add a dummy variable at the end like "&dummy=.flv" because I was told that Flash is basically looking for an .flv extension at the end and you can trick it, but it doesn't work because they add on additional code.

i want to choose one of these randomly, I have a loop way in which there is a loop searching for the index number which is inside an array like M1[1]=1 , M2[1]=2 and if I have a random number between 1 and 20 I can loop the arrays [1] element.
But is there another way with directly get the random array buy name. For example I have the random number 14 which directs me to M14. how Name of the array help me to choose M14 when I have the number 14....

I've created a 'flashvars' tag in my embed code (aid=test), which I simply wish to add to the end a GetUrl statement, contained in within a button (which is on the first level of the flash movie). This is the code I've added to the button...
on (release) { getURL("http://www.platinumselect.com?id="+aid);}
But this doesnt seem to work!? Is there anything else I need to do?

I need to read the variables from a URL:[url]....I tried all sorts of info from google and i coudn't make it work.I'm interested in the option when i don't need to do any modifications to the html file, but just do all the coding in flash.I found several examples that are using ExternalInterface and could not make any single one of them work.

I'm using ASPX pages with VB code-behind to transfer data in- and out-of the flash file.I've got my data coming into the flash file just fine. i am trying to load different xml that get generated through .net when I am trying to pass varibels i am getting undefined. Can someone give me a heads up on what i might be doing wrong. from what I have read and learned I can pull via-

I have these movies already existing in my actionscript code: inner_mc AND gallery_mc.So - I attach my library movie clip: called "link_box", and name it link_box0 and so on through the loop.

Now I want to create a new movieclip called thumbnail0 and so on, to the newly attached movieclip.

When i try:trace(this.movieHolder ) it says undefined for all times it loops through.
Whats the syntax to combine strings and variables so that the result is seen as an object name ?

Is there a standard way to send variables through a banner ad? A client wants a banner that lets the user enter his mobile number, then receives a code by sms, and then enters the code into the banner. If the code then validates, the user is sent to a page with a login form with the phone number and code filled in. It must be possible to add the phone number and code as parameters to the clickTag somehow? I found that Adform supports using ";cppar=1&" and then variable=value pairs, but is this a standard, or a special feature of Adform?

I've got a picture gallery based on some flash code that reads an XML data from file and assign appropriate variable parameter.

I'm a student building a flash presentation in Actionscript 2.0 for a company wanting a virtual tour of a building. Each room in the building has clickable objects that need to trigger an action (by going to another slide), which we have happening; however, we don't know any way to code the flash so that it remembers where you have been, what has been clicked, etc. so that by the time you've clicked everything in the building, another slide plays saying "Congratulations!" or something. I've been told that we need to use something called a global variable to implement this function.

I'm trying to read date variables from an external text file. I'm using the LoadVars method and it is working fine for regular string variables. I'm running into trouble trying to convert some of those strings into date variables so I can compare the current date to the targetDateX variable from the text file. I'm working on a countdown timer for a list of different times/dates. It will display the time left until the first event, then after that event the time left until the second event. I'm running the code in a for loop and everything is working except being able to convert the string with format (yyyy,mm,dd,hh,mm) into a date variable- I've attached a sample of where I'm having trouble.

I am just trying to pass some variables from flash to php with getURL
getURL("CompSummary.php?url3=" + url3, "_self");
URL33 keeps coming back as undefined
However I printed out url3 using dynamic text in the flash movie just to check it and it does indeed exist, and is defined. I also tried creating a string and passing that to getURL
var path = "CompSummary.php?url3=" + url3;
getURL(path, "_self");
still no luck.

I have 2 buttons in a flash movie with the following codes. They open a new URL that also contains a flash movie and it sends the variable "nFrame" and a value.
Button1:

When the new URL opens I want the flash movie to begin at a particular frame depending on what variable "nFrame" is equal to. I tried placing this code in the first frame to do it but it didn't work, the movie just loops and loops and doesn't stop at any frame.
