Actionscript 2.0 :: Combine Strings +variables To Be Read As An Object?

I have these movies already existing in my actionscript code: inner_mc AND gallery_mc.So - I attach my library movie clip: called "link_box", and name it link_box0 and so on through the loop.

Now I want to create a new movieclip called thumbnail0 and so on, to the newly attached movieclip.
This is my attempt: this.movieHolder = inner_mc.gallery_mc.link_box+i.createEmptyMovieClip("thumbnail"+1, i+1);
When i try:trace(this.movieHolder ) it says undefined for all times it loops through.
Whats the syntax to combine strings and variables so that the result is seen as an object name ?
I'd like to easily convert a string of say "dog=Sam&cat=Garfield&mouse=Cheese" into an object of strings.
The object would contain the variable "dog" equal to "Sam", its variable "cat" will be "Garfield", and of course "mouse" the string "Cheese".
There are a number of ways to parse this, but what is the simplest way? I know when you use a URLLoader object, you can give it a dataFormat of URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES and then it automatically converts the data into an object.
I have inherited a AS2 project and it currently uses XML to store the text strings. I really want to switch it to ini.The ini file formating looks like this:

i want to choose one of these randomly, I have a loop way in which there is a loop searching for the index number which is inside an array like M1[1]=1 , M2[1]=2 and if I have a random number between 1 and 20 I can loop the arrays [1] element.
But is there another way with directly get the random array buy name. For example I have the random number 14 which directs me to M14. how Name of the array help me to choose M14 when I have the number 14....

I'm trying to read date variables from an external text file. I'm using the LoadVars method and it is working fine for regular string variables. I'm running into trouble trying to convert some of those strings into date variables so I can compare the current date to the targetDateX variable from the text file. I'm working on a countdown timer for a list of different times/dates. It will display the time left until the first event, then after that event the time left until the second event. I'm running the code in a for loop and everything is working except being able to convert the string with format (yyyy,mm,dd,hh,mm) into a date variable- I've attached a sample of where I'm having trouble.
lets say we want to animate an object using the 3d position its (Z position)to be exact, from keyrame 1 to keyframe 40 or so on. i put the object on keyrame 1 to 10000position and view and then its keyframe on 40 to 0 position and view,so it looks like a nice object zooming towards you as you see it.but how can we get the object to constantly spin around and around(like from the motion presets from the default:spiral 3D ) .so it seems like a coin been tossed.
I'm about to implement public function writeExternal( output:IDataOutput ):void {...} public function readExternal( input:IDataInput ):void {...} to make a set of object serializable.
Although I'm pretty sure, that I implemented all correctly, readExternal(..) at a certain point complains about too few data left to read: RangeError: Error #2006: The supplied index is out of bounds. at flash.filesystem::FileStream/readObject()
I wonder, if I have a circular object network like A = { left -> B, right -> B } B = { father -> A } And I call writeObject( a ) Will Flex serialize the hole object network and each object once and only one?

I'm building a realtime action multiplayer game in Flash which is using too much bandwidth because it sends message objects as XML (as required by the Smartfox server). I'm now trying to cut down on that by serializing my objects to strings before feeding them to Smartfox. I've tried JSON but it doesn't work. Is there another serialization method that is compacter, for example that encodes numbers in Base64 instead of decimals? I don't care about human-readability in this case.
I work on AS3 one week, and then take a break for a few weeks, then work on it a day, take a break, etc.. So I forget some of the basics, and need refreshers. I think I need to stop taking breaks.
Problem: I push multiple strings into an array, and some of the strings are the same.

I want to find out which element positions "Snivvle" hogs up. We can see that it would be using element 0 and 2, and if we do an "indexOf" we would only get to see element 0, and doing a "lastIndexOf" we would only see element 2. How do I find out ALL of the element positions "Snivvle" is located in, so that it returns: element 0, element 2.
is there any way to read variables from a projector?? I mean, i am making a cracker type some thing, which reads a particular variable from the projector.. So far, i've got it working for swf.. I mean, my so called cracker reads the value from an swf file using loadMovie.. But i cant get it working for my exe..
I was wondering if anyone knows wether it's possible to create variables from text inside an inputText.Example -> if I put the text "bDead = false" inside an inputBox, and I press some button, the variable bDead is created and initialized with "false".I tried loadVariables with the box.text as a parameter, but I guess it expects a link to some file instead of a text...
I am going to make a flash music player. I need it to be able to read variables from the PHP file that it's placed in. Example variables include: path to the MP3, length of the song, etc... These variables are stored in a MySQL database, not in XML files.

i want to do is read variables from a php file on a remote server. i have the php file on the server and im echoing back a result. all i need in plain english is the AS3 to intercept read and display this variable in a text box.
How I can save data to a .txt file. This .txt file will be stored on the same server that the flash file is stored on and is executing from. I want to, later, be able to access the data previously stored on the .txt file from my flash movie.

but that dident work either the real problem is, i guess that i need it to read in the variable array[0,0]=1 just like that and not use sumthingrather=(myVars.varname) because there will be a hell of alot of variables, and the variable ammounts will switch and i cant do a sumthingrather=(myVars.varname)
