ActionScript 2.0 :: Double / Single Click To Close The Enlarged Photo Down
Sep 24, 2009
I am currently trying to modify a Polaroid Flash photo gallery template. Currently it is setup so that when the user double clicks on the thumbnail, the photo enlarge, when they double click again on it, it closes it down. I'm trying to get it so that they only have to single click to close the enlarged photo down, as supposed to double click. I have found the section of code that controls this, I've tried playing with the numbers, but I still cannot get it to work:

I would like to create a simple photo gallery in as3. I would like the user to be able to click on the image thumbnail and see an enlarged version come up next to it. The only galleries I see for flash are XML galleries and it was really complicated the last time I tried it.

I know that datagrid can detect changes of single mouse click with
//add listener
myDataGridList.addEventListener(Event.CHANGE, myDataGridListChange);
public function myDataGridListChange(e:Event):void{
trace(myDataGridList.selectedItem.id);
}
but can they detect double mouse click?My purpose of doing this is that, if the user double click on a datagrid row, I need it to return me value of myDataGridList.selectedItem.id, so that I'm able to continue to proceed to the next stage of my game.

I have a couple of Sprites on my screen and I want to write a single event handler to handle the double click on any of those Sprites. The following approach works for every event type except DOUBLE_CLICK:
[Code]...
To make it work, because in my application I will have lots of Sprites. In my opinion, a single event and the target property are more efficient than hundreds of event listeners. Am I right or should add event listeners to every Sprite?

I created a movie clip layer with five cars in it. Each car is a separate button that when clicked plays a sound and shows an animation. If the car is clicked again, the sound and animation disappear. If another car (car B) is clicked while the first car (car A) is playing the sound/showing the animation, car A's sound and animation disappear, but it takes a second click for car B's sound/animation to play/appear.
How can I write the code so when you click on car B while car A is playing, car A's sound stops and animation disappears and car B's sound and animation play and appear right away?

I just started out using autoscript 3.0. What I want is that when I click a button (with an image inside) it opens a new window with an enlargement of that image. I've already done the following:
1. Create new button
2. Set it's instance nam to appinvent_btn
3. Created new action layer.
4. Set up the following script in actionscript 3.0
appinvent_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DO WN, mouseDownHandler);
function mouseDownHandler(event:MouseEvent):void {
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("???????????????????????????"));
}

I've got a bug in my code, where a button has to be double clicked to work.Just wondering what is the standard distinction for the difference between single and double click.
my code
ActionScript Code:
ns.seek(0);
subtitles._visible = true;[code].....
the idea is that it runs a function only when the above button is pressed, but it doesn't seem to work the first time you press the button ?

I have been programming in actionscript for three months and I am very new to a lot of the details. I was programming in java in which there is an important difference between 'hello' and "hello". So my question is: In actionScript is it the same to use 'Hello' and "Hello". If not what are the differences?

I've got some text coming in from a database. I get:
' " " instead of single and double quotes.
I'm not sure that all fonts even support left and right double quotation marks (?).
at any rate... is there a relatively simple way to resolve this? maybe scanning the strings for the character entities and replacing them with single or double quotes?
does anyone know if Flash can recognize the ASCII entity number (e.g. ') more readily than the ASCII entity name (e.g. &rsquo?? That may be a moot point as i would have to somehow convert/replace with the entity number anyways..

I've got a drop down menu. I want to click a tab to make it drop then, if it's open, click it again to close. I've tried a million variations on the script below:
var btn_grp1:String
function main1Down(event:MouseEvent):void {
if (btn_grp1 != "dwn") {
[Code]....
This works too (once). So the drop down buttons all disapear again, but it won't re-set. The drop down menu stays up from then on.
BTW i'm not set on this method, it just seemed the most obvious i.e. if menu hidden, then show it, set some variable to down (showing), else hide the menu, set var to up (hidden). Not working though.

I am no longer able to doubleclick SWFs on my PC and have them open up in their own little SWF preview window. It is asking me to choose how I want to open them. There was no option for any Flash player, so I have had to settle for Firefox fo now which is annoying as it has changed all my SWF icons to the FF logo.I have Flash CS3 installed, and use Flash regularly to create banners and things, so this is a pain.

I never really dealt with double click in flash, but I've been always thinking it's just the same as any mouse event handling. Here is the simple test code I've made:
ActionScript Code:
package
{
import flash.display.Sprite;
import flash.events.Event;
[Code]...
I'm really sick of clicking that red circle, but I got no event firing at all. I've changed windows double-click settings, have made another testing mouse listeners (all of them are firing) and all the things...

I accidently just clicked a button twice really fast, and it makes the tween stop half way, and the loaded content becomes semi transparent. I then tried clicking on a button twice for another button, and the same things happened. It happens when I click twice on one button at quite a fast pace. Is there any reason this may be happening,
