Jan 4, 2005What I am trying to do is create a movie clip that will load an external swf then control it from the _level0 movie. The problem I am running into is loading it into the right location.
Code:
duplicateMovieClip(this.option,this.menu[context+"_"+optionnumber],this.getNextHighestDepth());
trace(this.menu[context+"_"+optionnumber])
this traces out "undefined"
I know this.option has been loaded correctly
I know this.menu exists as an empty movieclip
[context+"_"+optionnumber] traces out as expected
It Works fine as an attachment from library using attachMovie, if I convert that library item to an external SWF then try to duplicate the movieclip into the same location it dosnt work. Does duplicateMovieClip not support what I am trying to do? Is there another way to acomplish this?

Oct 13, 2005I'm having a problem with embedding a Flash movie that loads an array of SWFs- specifically, ones that exist in the same movie as the .fla loader file.When I move the external SWFs and .swf load_movie file into a separate directory from the HTML file, they do not load properly.Url...When I keep the SWF movie clips and load_movie.swf in the same (root) folder as the .html file, then everything loads properly, though. But this would extremely clutter up my directory![code]I 'm not sure if there is a way in loadMovie to specify another folder.

Is there a way that I can have it open a 5 pixel window that automatically closes after it loads? Also, is there a way to specify within the actionscript where on the screen I want the new window to open?
I'm newer to flash. What I'd like to do is have it add a product to the shopping cart and close back down.If I can't do it straight from flash, I'm sure I can have the flash page open up an html page which redirects to the add to cart page and automatically closes, but obviously a much bigger pain in the butt, and it will only work anyway if I can specify in the actionscript for it to open a 5 x 5 pixel window.

Aug 21, 2011I created a simple button that displays an error messeage: "error opening 'url" when I test the movie, but does play and opens in browser after publishing. However, it won't open in the browser in a different location. The PREVIOUS button starts at the beginning of the called movie. I need it to start at a specific location. Is that doable? If yes, how? XML Loading Variable Location?
Jun 15, 2010I have been working with xml sheets to load a menu and in order to load a submenu or to go to a submenu of a submenu, I was wondering if it is possible to load a variable location for an xml.
For example, if I had the variable xmllocation which was a string that said where in an xml a certain menu was, is it possible to use the xmllocation variable for something like this:
( if xml.xmllocation.length() > 0 ) do something;
whenever I tried messing around with it, it would actually go to look for "xmllocation" in the xml instead of check what the string is. So what I guess I am really asking is, is there a way to tell it not to be so literal?

On a click I would like that picture move - 10 x from that position so it will end the tween at 40. On a different button I would like to do the oppositie, + 10 x to its current position so if it was at 40 it would be back to the start and if it was at the start it would be at 60.

but ExternalInterface.call('window.location.href.toStr ing'); will not work where JavaScript is disabled hence I would like to know if there are any possible way or hack to do this.
ActionScript 2.0 :: Duplicate MC In Different Location?
Nov 4, 2009I am trying to duplicate a movie clip several times (to create a wallpaper from a background tile). However I'm running all code from the first frame of the file on the _root level, but the MC I am targeting is nested deeper. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious but I just cannot get the duplicated MCs to stay at the same location is the MC I am cloning!
The clip I want to clone is _root.core.bg.tile I want the duplicates to reside in _root.core.bg with names such as...
_root.core.bg.tile_2
_root.core.bg.tile_3 etc

Oct 24, 2010I posted this question a few days ago but didn't get a response, so I think perhaps I put it in too specific a context. I thought I'd try again and couch the question in more general terms this time. Unfortunately I can't move on with my work until I get this issue solved!
What I need to do is find a way to see if there is a MovieClip at a particular spot. So, say I have a random point and a bunch of random MovieClips. At this random point, there may be any of the MovieClips or there may not. I won't know what these are in advance. I need the ActionScript to tell me if there is ANY MovieClip at this random spot - and, if there is, what MovieClip it is.

Nov 17, 2006I have most of the basics down in actionscripting. I want to learn a little bit more on if else statements. I have an issue right now that I am pretty sure needs to use the if else statement.
What I have is an FLV playing in a browser. When that FLV is done playing, I want it to getURL to a different location. So basically when the FLV is done it goes to the next HTML page.

The a1 is what I want to change, I've got a global variable that changes to a1, a2, a3, etc, on another function The global variable I'm using is _global.aChoice
So, I've been looking around, and the only thing I found that I thought my work is
aS_mc.aScreen_mc.aScroller_mc._global[a1].gotoAndStop(_global.aPicture);
But this didn't work either

Mar 19, 2009I had the core of my site down for me, I believe in Flash 8 using AS2. I took over the site and attempted to learn everything that they did, so I could update it myself. The one thing that I can't figure out... is where they put the customized scrollbars they made for my site. There are some scrollPane components in the library, but I can't see where he put the custom scrollbars. The homepage link is here:The blue scrollbars are what I'm trying to find.
