I would not prefer flash, but still, if there is any for free with some customizable options/effects, it would do.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to save user location in a course. I am looking for the a simple way for a new Flash CS4 and Actionscript 3 user. The program will be copied to the users hard drive. I am creating a course that has 3 topics each with about 8 sections. The user can go to any of the topics in order and when they complete can do a final assessment. I am looking for a simple way to keep track if the user has finished any of the topics, then to keep track of where they are in a section, so when they return to the program they can pick up where they left off. Also, wondered if their is a next label command like the nextScene command?

View 1 RepliesI want to download a file from the server and save it in a particular location of the disk without user interaction. All this I want to do it in Flex.
View 1 RepliesI'm currently working on a project where I want to incorporate "find a location" functionality using the user's zip code. Basically, the user needs to be able to type in their zip code and once they hit the submit button, they are then taken to a page where it lists all locations available. Mind you, the website is ALL Flash. Currently, it's in ActionScript 2.0, but I could (at least with these pages) convert to ActionScript 3.0 if needed.

fileRef.addListener(mylistener);
mylistener.onOpen = function(file){

im just looked analog clock tutorial URL...its showing time which we having on our machine.i want 4 clock with different countries

I wanted to set the language of my flash website based on the users location country wise. I know there are some methods with php and searching a database but I am trying to avoid that route.
I found one script in javascript that links to a webpage and produces a document.write if you go to that link. It returns the users country i believe. but there seems to be no documentation.
<!--webbot bot="HTMLMarkup" startspan -->
<script language="Javascript" src="http://map.geoup.com/geoup?template=CountryName">
</script>
<!--webbot bot="HTMLMarkup" endspan -->
Is it possible for me to capture that input from the link and pass it in as a flashvar? I am using as3 and I have no clue how to pass that through.
Question: Is it possible to let flash load different files with an if-statement depending on from where the file is entered?My plan is to publish the swf with an html file. So theoretical as there are many different locations for IP adresses it should be possible to have the if-statement check, from where my file is opened
View 3 RepliesI am creating a shaded map and really don't want to assign colors to each country in longhand. I created a function to color my MCs.
function colorMe(obj:Object, clr:uint):void
{
var colorTransform:ColorTransform = obj.transform.colorTransform;
colorTransform.color = clr;
[code].....
I store the needed color in the XML as something like <clr>0XE5ACEA<clr>.Shouldn't this work:
var b:Number = 0;
function loadXML(e:Event):void
{
var xml = new XML(e.target.data);
[code].....
Instead, I get this error: TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert XMLList@2ac36821 to flash.geom.ColorTransform.
I need flash to show English or French depending on what language/country you're from. I know you can do it with javascript to do a browser detect.
View 3 RepliesBy default, when you visit a website that is made entirely in Flash and there is a Tme and Date movie clip feature... you know... it gets the current time and date of your computer so you're actually seeing your own time, right? What I've always wanted to do is when you visit a website that is made entirely in Falsh, and you have a Time and Date movie clip that tells the creators current time and the current date instead of just getting the values of your computer time and displaying your own. I'm in the Philippines so I want the visitors of my site to view what time and date is it in the Philippines.

View 16 RepliesI created a simple button that displays an error messeage: "error opening 'url" when I test the movie, but does play and opens in browser after publishing. However, it won't open in the browser in a different location. I pasted the html code in a web page but it doesn't work there nor opens in the browser in a differnet location from where it was originally published and saved. Why is that?

View 2 RepliesAs usual I brought a problem for you guys to help me figure it out. What's happening is that I currently finished developing a MMO for a famous and big company in my country, I have one week before uploading it to their server and everything is ok, besides the performance.
I'm using smartfox 2.0 and I have several rooms, what happen is that if I go inside any of the rooms everything is beautifull and fast, but if I quit the actual and go to another it will be slower, and if I do this over and over again it gets slower each time I do this.
I don't what it can be, I caught the project in the middle of the way and did my part, I was revising the code but I have no idea where to look for something wrong.
I want to know about countrywise digital clock. I have a map and when I mouseOver on a country then it should show the time of that that country.like when i over on india then it should show the indian time and when i over on china then it should show the chinies time..

View 8 RepliesIt is possible to make file transfer from air application via server?I think need to create like byte array streaming or somethink like this from sender and write the destination file on receiver user pc.
View 2 RepliesI wonder wether on a website like chatroulette for example, the streaming video is going directly from user to user or wether it is going through a server.
In other words I wonder wether it is possible to offer a webcam service on a website, so that the streaming video goes directly from user to user, without overloading the system.
is it possible in actionscript for the user to type in a box from a keyboard like a user input text box..
View 3 RepliesWe have a sort of game, generated with Flash in AS3, on our website where the reader is invited to eliminate the California Budget Deficit. It's connected to a database where we keep track of the responses and print them in chart form and post the results on the website so everyone can see the most popular budget items the readers want to cut.
See the interactive in question here:

We've had many, many requests to have an option where the reader can get a copy of his/her choices that he/she can print out. I've thought about having a movieclip pop up that shows those choices (and that would be simple enough), but in addition to that, what I'd really like to do is have a way to download those choices to the reader's computer as a text file or maybe have a "Print" button on the movieclip showing the choices that would print just that movieclip. The database we have wouldn't really be suitable because it's set up to simply show which were chosen and which not, and the names of the submissions and choices are variables that don't really mean anything except to us when we put it all in an excel file.
I have some text that says go to page with a input textfield box and a go button. This is a flash cs4 file.I want to have the user input the page number and have it go to that frame.I am using actionscript 3.0 and have bought 4 books and researched online and still can't find what I am looking for.I can make the go button go to whatever page I want I just don't know how to get the information the user put in the box.

View 1 RepliesFor one of my projects I need users to be able to communicate with each other in an audio mode. The thing I'm concerned about is the scalability of the project if it even gets big in terms of bandwidth consumption.
What are the alternatives to passing the audio through my server to the users?Is it possible to create a link between two users so they can exchange their stream of data (audio in this case) so that it doesn't pass through me, while still being able to control the time they've been connected to each other and some other information?
As for now it's just an idea I have in mind but I don't really know what to look into. I think it will probably need to be some plugin dependant solution so that's why I tagged the question like that.
I'm not looking for a concrete solution, just a little push in the right direction from someone who has been through something similar.
