Jun 25, 2009
It is possible to make file transfer from air application via server?I think need to create like byte array streaming or somethink like this from sender and write the destination file on receiver user pc.
i have a problem:i am doing website for making banner.i do it in flash + actionscript 3.0. the user can draw, add pictures, shapes, text, colors and ,and motion tween.i need that all the actions that the user is doing will transfer to .swf file.how can i do it?
I'm writing a small application for myself and instead of using a database I'd like to just use Excel to store the small amount of data I have on my local file system. I want to be able to load that data without having to use the typical FileReference browse() method as it would just be annoying to do every time I use the application.
The code below seems to find the file fine as the file.exists method below and most of the other attributes seem to be correct but the file.data is always null.I'm guessing this is a security issue and that's why I'm running into this problem but I thought I'd ask and see if there is in fact a way around this problem.
var file:File = new File(fullPath + "\" + currentFolder + ".txt"); if(file.exists) { var byteArray:ByteArray = file.data; }
I'm trying to do an unzip like application for the Blackberry Playbook, which means that the application mostly gets launched when the user clicks a file for which the app is registered.I googled a bit around, and the closed what I found is this, but MobileApplication doesn't have invoke parameter.
I have a problem with a dynamic video player that I have created in flash. The video player is "SCORM" compliant so that when the user clicks the "exit" button a class file is called to mark the user complete in an LMS.I have tested the SCORM Code previously and it works with out issue. Usually I have the completion code embedded in an Actions Layer of the movie. This is the first time I have attempted to call the completion status in a class file, I have added a "trace statement" when the movie is tested within flash it runs the trace statement properly, but when uploaded to the LMS environment the course does not complete properly
Currently i'm developing a facebooks apps with falsh application. i've have completed the development with all API required to run a facebook apps. Everything went well and it's live now. My question :
1. How can make user to go directly to the application page everytime they click the link posted by user who already use the application instead going to the canvas page applications. i'm been trying to look for the article that support saying that user will go directly to application directly to canvas application page instead of going to the application page.
I wonder wether on a website like chatroulette for example, the streaming video is going directly from user to user or wether it is going through a server.
In other words I wonder wether it is possible to offer a webcam service on a website, so that the streaming video goes directly from user to user, without overloading the system.
We have a sort of game, generated with Flash in AS3, on our website where the reader is invited to eliminate the California Budget Deficit. It's connected to a database where we keep track of the responses and print them in chart form and post the results on the website so everyone can see the most popular budget items the readers want to cut.
See the interactive in question here:

We've had many, many requests to have an option where the reader can get a copy of his/her choices that he/she can print out. I've thought about having a movieclip pop up that shows those choices (and that would be simple enough), but in addition to that, what I'd really like to do is have a way to download those choices to the reader's computer as a text file or maybe have a "Print" button on the movieclip showing the choices that would print just that movieclip. The database we have wouldn't really be suitable because it's set up to simply show which were chosen and which not, and the names of the submissions and choices are variables that don't really mean anything except to us when we put it all in an excel file.
I have some text that says go to page with a input textfield box and a go button. This is a flash cs4 file.I want to have the user input the page number and have it go to that frame.I am using actionscript 3.0 and have bought 4 books and researched online and still can't find what I am looking for.I can make the go button go to whatever page I want I just don't know how to get the information the user put in the box.
Id like to find a gallery with user sign in , and user uploads but how difficult would it be to put in a gallery component ,and make a button to allow users to upload straight to a folder on the server? once th epicture is on the server the gallery will do the rest auto
For one of my projects I need users to be able to communicate with each other in an audio mode. The thing I'm concerned about is the scalability of the project if it even gets big in terms of bandwidth consumption.
What are the alternatives to passing the audio through my server to the users? Is it possible to create a link between two users so they can exchange their stream of data (audio in this case) so that it doesn't pass through me, while still being able to control the time they've been connected to each other and some other information?
As for now it's just an idea I have in mind but I don't really know what to look into. I think it will probably need to be some plugin dependant solution so that's why I tagged the question like that.
I'm not looking for a concrete solution, just a little push in the right direction from someone who has been through something similar.
client has suggested that they would like a multi userdrawing board online.Basically i need to demo something that two users can draw onto at the same time, my host has php and mysql which i would like to stick with as I have a basic understanding of the technologys
I am deploying a flex application in sharepoint as a web part. I am planning to use sharepoint user credentials for my flex application. My flex application consists of various different user roles like author, reviewer etc . An author should be able to see all the list of sharepoint users available and can make any number of them as reviewer or author . For this I require following functionality through sharepoint for my flex application:-
1) Getting list of all users of sharepoint
2) Getting the username of the current logged in user of sharepoint through the flex application, which is deployed as a web part in sharepoint.
I'm building an AIR desktop app with facebook support using Adobe Flash builder. So far it's working alright, except for one detail, once a user logs in, that session stays open, even if the logout button is pressed. My logout code look like so:
protected function logout():void { FacebookDesktop.logout(handleLogout, APP_ORIGIN); }
I set APP_ORIGIN to "". I checked Adobe's documentation and they say: appOrigin:String (default = null) ” (Optional) The site url specified for your app. Required for clearing html window cookie. But I don't know what that means, what is the 'site url specified by my app'? Where do I get it? Sorry if this is a noob question.
I'm using Google Engine App with Python. I want to add custom user authentication. How is it done, with the best practices? I want custom authentication because the app is built in Flex and I don't want to redirect to an HTML page.
The user value object is like this: class User(db.Model): email = db.EmailProperty(required = True, indexed = True) masked_password = db.StringProperty(required = True) # maybe more things here
I would like to mask the password, is there some built in function in GAE? Then, how I will remember the current user? Through sessions and cookies? Or what else?
I need to implement some sort of data locking in a Flex application I'm developing. A user clicks a specific button to "check out" the data set, and other users must wait until they are finished before they can make edits. After a period of inactivity, the application will release the lock to someone else. What I'm after is an easy way to determine if the user is still interacting with the application so they don't have to manually keep clicking "yes I want to continue editing". For example, I could handle all mouse clicks for the entire application and add 5 minutes to the timeout every time they click something. Are there any better options for doing something like this? Is there something built in to check for last interaction time?
What's the standard way of storing user preferences in a Flex application for AIR? I need to store simple parameters like lists of recently opened files, window positions and sizes etc.
I want to have different ContextMenus appear when the user right clicks on different objects in my application. Right now, I define a custom Context menu in each different class that needs a unique menu. This works, but seems unnecessary. Is there way to centralize this so as to handle all ContextMenus globally? Im looking for something similar to how you can handle click events globally by determining the type of the target.
Is there a way in Flash to detect if the user has quit the application? For example if the user closes the browser window, or has not been active for 5 minutes, then so remove them from the list of active members.
I have a button that the user clicks for the purpose of inviting a friend to the app.I understand that this can be done via the js sdk: http.....However I am already using the facebook_as3_api, and I would prefer to avoid using multiple facebook api's. Does the facebook_as3_api have a way of doing this, and if not, why not?
I've a flash facebook application, i can take the session info from flash client and send the session information to server.
I need to check if the user connected to the server via facebook application or not. That's why i need to get the user's session from facebook page directly by my server.
How can i do it? I use C# for all database and communication system. Flash interface does only application responsibilities.
One of our application is implemented in flex and adobe air. We want to have the user press combination of keys, say 'ABC', and have the keyboard return a different character, 'FOG', to whatever app is in focus. This should work even if app has no focus.
Will it possible in Adobe Air/Flex? If yes, provide me some examples?
I need to develop a browser based application that record the user screen, much preferably on flv. Also doing that with java would be perfect. That's exactly what they accomplished at .... , with just a javaWS app.
I'm in the process of creating an application in AS3 where the user can arrange a number of display objects (move/rotate/scale/...) in a container. When the objects are added and arranged in the manner the user prefers I would love to have a button that 'captures' a part of the screen and returns an imagefile (JPEG?, BMP?) that can be used for example in MS Word.
I've been reading a lot about the benefits of Object Pooling. Found some "tutorials" online, all above my skill level. Can anyone please show me an extremely simple example of an Object Pool. What my game does is creates Ball objects when the user holds down the mouse, stops when user lifts up mouse. I need to store these Ball objects in an array(or Vector), and hit test them with other objects, removing them from the stage when the hit another object. I'd like to create a pool of say 20 of so, created once, and recycle them.
I would like to create a main menu and a hud within the application that stores and displays user information. Buttons like sound and main menu options should exist.. Now i cant seem to find any examples of how to create this user interface / hud.
I am a vision impaired developer who needs to enlarge the text in the user interface of CS4 Flash Professional. Is there a way to increase the font size for the text in the user interface of the application, menus and panels for example? I have not been able to find any setting in the preferences for doing this.
My Flex application is heavily keyboard-oriented. It uses 100% of the browser window and I'd like the user to be able to start using it immediately - as soon as it loads. However, it seems that the application is only first "activated" (i.e. the activate event fires) when the mouse clicks somewhere inside it, which is very inconvenient for my keyboard-heavy app.
Can I force an activation of my app at some point during/after it loads? I hope I don't have to display some silly "click inside to activate" overlay every time the page loads..
In certain browsers ([cough] Chrome [/cough]) the focus is lost whenever the user switches away from the browser (or even touches the address bar) and is not regained when switching back. So the solution has to take in consideration not just the first focus when the page loads but also "re-focusing".
