Flex :: Store User Preferences In An Adobe AIR Application?
Jun 13, 2011
What's the standard way of storing user preferences in a Flex application for AIR? I need to store simple parameters like lists of recently opened files, window positions and sizes etc.
I need to create and read a user preferences XML file with Adobe Air. It will contain around 30 nodes. <id>18981</id> <firstrun>false</firstrun> <background>green</background> <username>stacker</username> ... What's a good method to do this?
I am using Flash builder 4 to both build and manage (via cvs) projects. In recent days my designer has been having trouble committing to CVS, leaving a project blocked. I have troubleshooted troubleshot tested CVS and it is working fine (others can commit and retrieve without a hitch).
in an effort to start from scratch - I have removed the flash builder application (dragging it to the trash, its a Mac) as well as using the uninstaller (which does not work as well as I would have thought), but on reinstall - all preferences are still there - CVS connection and all.
is there a file or set of files I can delete to reset all of the prefs for Flash Builder (built on eclipse if that helps)?
One of our application is implemented in flex and adobe air. We want to have the user press combination of keys, say 'ABC', and have the keyboard return a different character, 'FOG', to whatever app is in focus. This should work even if app has no focus.
Will it possible in Adobe Air/Flex? If yes, provide me some examples?
I just finished with developing my application by Adobe Flash Professional CS5 and I wonder if this will be visible to iPhones 4 because support for Retina displays was added since CS5.5.
This isn't strictly a Flash-specific problem but I didn't really know the proper place to post so I went here.At any rate, we are trying to figure out how to remap Adobe's default preference folder to a non-local location.Does anyone know if there is some way to remap the Adobe preferences from the default location of "C:Documents and Settings\ %currentuser% Application DataAdobe" to something else, say "H:Adobe"?
I run a school lab with a few users on each machine. One students came up with a problem. She is always in outline view, even when the outline button in the layers panels is not punched. When I log in to the same machine, I do not have the problem. I assume the problem is in the user preferences file. We are on Windows 7. I went into AppData and deleted what I thought was the preferences file, but it continues to return.
I am working on an StoryBoarding application,it is a slide based application in which the authors can put several components like image , sound , captions etc in each of the slide.A collection of slides will make a storyboard. This application will be deployed on a web server (sharepoint + IIS , and php+apache), and several users can collaborate with each other for authoring or reviewing the storyboard. In my application I also want to support auto save ,which will keep on storing the state of the storyboard.User can also save at any point of time by clicking the save button.I am confused about how to store the state of the storyboard.
1)Presently I am doing this by passing all the storyboard data to a dot net web-service and then that service is storing images, caption etc in their respective tables into a database .2)Another approach possible is to store the model of the application as a serialized object into the db , which will be more convenient since separating the components of the model (like images, captions etc..) will not be required and also restoring the state of the objects in the application will be easy . I have two doubts about using approach 2 :-i) I want the the saved storyboard to load quickly, for which I would like to support the partial so that lighter objects like caption can be loaded quickly but other heavier objects like image, video etc can be loaded on demand. Using approach 2 , do I have to send the whole data in one go or is there way to support partial loading ?
I'm trying to develop a simple mxml Flex application to start Skype from the AIR/Flashplayer runtime. Is it possible to get back events from a native Windows application? In the simple example of Skype, the OS returns control to the Flex app when Skype exits. But what about native applications which have their own event model and wants to communicate with the Flex event model. For example, a Face detection system which shows "Hello" on a Flex app when the camera detects a face. Can this be done in the current Flex framework?
I am working on an Adobe AIR Application. The size on Application window is 800X600 and is contains border container and border container contains many controls. What I want is to if user re-sizes the application then that container should also be re-sized according to scale. i.e If user maximizes or minimizes the window then that border container should also be maximized or minimized respectively.
I have a native (Obj-C, standard Xcode project) application and I'd like to integrate a partners iOS application (or specifically, it's functionality) into it as just another view in my application. The problem is that their application is a Flex/Air app. I really don't understand the Adobe compilation process on how it gets from a bunch of flex code down to an IPA. I don't see intermediate projects, shared objects, etc on the disk to produce that IPA. It looks like it doesn't rely on the Apple tool chain... as I understand it, you can produce the IPA on Windows as well. Is there any way to build that Flex app in such a way that I can import it into Xcode so I can link against it and use it as a library from within my application? While I specifically used iOS as an example since that is the most important platform, we'll want to apply this solution to our respective Android and Blackberry 6 apps as well.
I've programmed a Java application using BlazeDS and Flex, but i think the problem also occurs in any ajax style application. It's a monitoring application, so requests are made regularly to the server. The browser has stored a large amount of temporary internet files on the client pc even getting it saturated. How I can avoid this? I have seen some articles that say to include variables in the html header as:
I have two Cairngorm MVC Flex applications (a full version and lite version of the same app) that share many Classes. I have put these Classes into a Flex Library Project that compiles as an SWC. Both applications use some static String constants. Right now, I am storing these in the ModelLocator:
package model { [Bindable] public class ModelLocator
when i use flash cs5 publish the app for ios,It works fine. But when i upload the package to the app store, application loader popup message: "Application failed codesign verification. The signature was invalid,or it was not signed with an Apple submission certificate."I create the certificate file from mac.
I am working on an AIR desktop application, and am trying to get the user's locale string. I basically need to know whether the user's locale is English or French. Capabilities.language doesn't seem to work for me, as it only displays the OS's UI language.
How can I get the user's current locale?
Once determined, I intend to set it to resourceManager.localeChain, so that the appropriate 'properties' files are used to display my UI literals.
I have a web application developed using flex and cakephp. My client need to make a desktop application of that web application using Adobe Air. The conversion of the flex to Air is done successfully. I the flex application the communication of flex and cakephp is handled using a remotes controller. In air application I have a problem of authenticating the user with cakephp default user authentication
I've already built a flash 10 flex application which use the p2p feature (I'm using a developer key to connect to stratus), currently everything works fine. Now I want my application to run on Adoble Air Runtime, but it seems that p2p does not work for Air. I can successfully connect to stratus server in Air application, but after that, when I try to use NetConnection.nearID, an error occurs saying:"ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property nearID not found on flash.net.NetConnection and there is no default value."I've tried flex sdk 3.2 and 3.4, and neither of them works. Does anyone ever developed an Air Application that use p2p and can provide some hints?
I am building an offline [URL] application in Adobe Flex. Can we use [URL] Rich Text Area fields in the offline application? I do not see the field returned in a query.
Does anyone know how I would load up a flex application and on load the application would open on a different tab within the application. The only thing I can think of is sending a parameter into the application to tell it where to go, but how does the app load that tab then?
I am trying to create my own certificate for a adobe air application, I created one already based on this link[url]...
But when I install my application the publisher field is still set with unknown, which is at the end what I am trying to do, I need to set the publisher with one specific value.
I am developing an Adobe Air app. I need to set an icon to the app so it is shown on the task bar. I added the icon tag to the descriptor file but it is not working and I really don't know why
What is the fastest way for a Adobe AIR program program to index all images on a users' computer? Using Open Source ActionScript-3, MXML Libs and classes.
Fastest - Same pc configuration, different time (seconds) To index - get a list of absolute links (like c://bla-bla/file ) and save them into file (index.txt) All images (like JPEGs, PNGs)
I have a flex mobile application that I am working on that I am having issues with selecting an image from roll/taking a picture. My application is not tabbed, however one part of it contains a Tabbed View Navigator with tabs across the bottom. Within one of those tabs, I have the ability to upload an image to a webservice that I have created. However, when I select an image or take the picture, it pops back out to the initial splash screen and the application restarts. If I use the component standalone (outside of the tabbed view navigator) it selects the image and uploads without any problem.
to point out some good tutorials on creating applications in flex that are don't have UI's?Actually, it looks like all I really need to know is how to call afunction upon initialization of the flash object. I tried the creationComplete attribute, but it doesn't work in browser.
