With this data, I can generate all sorts of fancy graphs to track any given user's progress.For example:You have been asked the word 'cat' 10 times. From data stored in the XML document, the game generates a graph of the time it took to answer each of those 10 times. (So in a perfect world, you see a nice downward curve. Congrats.)My question is how to organise the XML document (if that's the way to go with this) so that it is as efficient as possible.Right now, I can only see the brute force approach: have a limited number of predefined history states (say 99), and write data to these each time 'cat' comes up. Once they're full, overwrite.

I have developed a flex application (Flex 4.5.1).I want the flex application to be used only by the domain names that I allow. As soon as the application is loaded, I check with the remote database if the domain name is valid.
The problem is that flash player only returns the domain name of the user's machine. What I want is the domain name of the website that the flex application is part of. For instance, if the webpage I browse for my flash application is[url]...., I need [url]...or [url].... Is that possible? Every method I have tried only returns the name of the website visitor's computer.
I have a requierement in my project that i need to store 'US/Eastern EST' and day light saving 'US/Eastern EDT' in data base if client machine is in US/Eastern time zone. Because this gives clear identification instead of justing the chars like 'EST'. There is CDT in US region as well as Chaina too so can't relay just on three chars like 'EST'/'EDT'.

View 1 RepliesIs it possible to delegate heavy computations to be handled asynchronously (on the user's machine)? When it's done, I could just fire an event, catch the new data, and update. I have played with this for lesser operations, by just setting up a que and only handle a few operations per frame; but is there another method? That feels like a heavy handed workaround, and it won't scale with faster/slower machines. IE: 12 operations per frame works fine on the test machine, but my machine can handle more, but won't do it because it's hard coded.

The only thing I can think of at the moment is to set the HTML control to a new HTML control, although this is a bit of a pain.

View 1 RepliesThe purpose of this is too allow a user to upload an image from their machine to be displayed on a website. The code's pretty straight forward and i have it all working fine, but have come across an issue. When certain portrait images are selected to be loaded and displayed, they get rotated at some point in the process and become landscape? There doesn't appear to be any consistency to the way they are rotated. Some are clockwise, some counter clockwise.
The one thing i've noticed though, is that it doesn't appear to be an issue with images that have been re-saved (so simply taken into photoshop and then saved without any modification), only images that are the original source of an image taken by a digital camera? This has got me wondering whether there's a possible issue with flash reading the meta data of the source image? The attached zip file contains the source code and swf, a selection of images from 2 different camera's and a modified image.
Just to note, due to the dimensions of the images, in the source code the bitmap is scaled to 0.1 so that the result can be clearly seen. I've tested this without the scaling and the image still gets rotated. There's a trace in the Event.COMPLETE handler of the Loader.loadbytes() method and you can see from this that the width and height of the loaded image have been switched? Note - due to the size of the zip file (4.6MB) because of the images, i've put them up on my server for download instead.[URL]
How do I indicate the visit history on a flex tree component? I want to highlight the clicked/visited nodes to a different color and will not change after that, so that all the visited nodes will be one color. I tried adding an attribute to the underlying XML by

This code does retain the new color, but it also changes the color of nodes which are not visited at all. What am I doing wrong here? Is there any better way to achieve this?
I've got a Flex application that uses link buttons. As soon as I incorporated the link buttons (I assume) the Flex framework started putting history tracking elements below the app in the DOM. For example IE6-8 get an iframe element with id of ie_historyFrame, chrome/safari get a safari_rememberDiv and FF gets a firefox_anchorDiv.
Now, there would be no problem if these elements were hidden by the framework, but they're not. The sit underneath the Flex app (visually and in the DOM) and have a bunch of serialized history data.
I was wondering, is there a way to hide them through configuration or code? I know I could hide them via CSS but it just seems nasty that I'd have to use CSS for something that Flex is supposed to manage. I want the application to be site independent.
First off I am new to using Flex, but I have pieced this app together with help from online tutorials and information. Basically my app is like a directory of names, addresses and so forth, but I also have additional fields of "week" and "day". I'm interested in building a thick client application for my existing web services that will run on the IPhone. Flash finally seems to be an option, so I thought about using Flex for client side development.
However, since flash apps are not natively supported by the IPhone, but only through a wrapper, I was wondering if these apps can persist any data. Data entered by the user should eventually be transmitted to the web service, but until then I want it to persist even if the Iphone should run out of power.
Is this possible? Or does the Iphone flash wrapper make it impossible to access the hard disk?

I have an sqlite db in an application and am stuck on how to pass the data that is retrieved from the db into multiple textboxes. I can get the first selection passed into the components just fine, but my problem comes in when I try to pass a second data selection into a different textbox while keeping the data from the previous selection the same in the first textbox.Basically, the user selects a recipe and that recipe is passed into textbox 1 Then another recipe is selected and that recipe is passed into textbox 2. *The recipes are selected from a different view, if that adds anything to the problem. After being selected, the view is returned to where the textboxes are.I'm not looking for someone to code this for me, but rather on how I would do it. I have a graph where X is Date data, I want to draw a line with a text on each Year and each 3 months as reference, not part of the graph series.
I'm dynamically creating an IList to use as a dataprovider for a DropDownList in Flex.
The code is creating the IList correctly, and I can access the data inside just fine.
However, when I set the dataprovider for my DropDownList, it only shows blank entries for each item in the list.[code]...

In my case, some user interaction produces new values for the bindable variables "someDataProvider", and "someSelectedItem". However, when flex renders the DropDownList, the control's selected value is empty.
The reason for this is that the DropDownList's "selectedItem" property gets bound before the "dataProvider" property. The "dataProvider" needs to be bound first for "selectedItem" to be valid, this is because the new "selectedItem" points into the new "dataProvider".
what is the best practice for updating bindable properties in a specific order? I've come up with a few ways (e.g. using a valueCommit handler), but I wanted to see what the community had to say.
I am acquiring the contents of a table to fill a dropdown box in a Flex 3 application:

The combo box, however, also needs to have some other meta-entries in it that do not come from the database:

I'm just trying to store a simple cookie that will remember the score for the next time the user plays the game (the score governs if an option is visible or not)It all works fine until I close browser/reload the page, at which point the shared object seems to disappear, any clues?
