Flex :: Passing Data From SQLite Db Into Specific Components?
Mar 25, 2011
I have an sqlite db in an application and am stuck on how to pass the data that is retrieved from the db into multiple textboxes. I can get the first selection passed into the components just fine, but my problem comes in when I try to pass a second data selection into a different textbox while keeping the data from the previous selection the same in the first textbox.Basically, the user selects a recipe and that recipe is passed into textbox 1 Then another recipe is selected and that recipe is passed into textbox 2. *The recipes are selected from a different view, if that adds anything to the problem. After being selected, the view is returned to where the textboxes are.I'm not looking for someone to code this for me, but rather on how I would do it. I should be able to do that. =)My Text Components
First off I am new to using Flex, but I have pieced this app together with help from online tutorials and information. Basically my app is like a directory of names, addresses and so forth, but I also have additional fields of "week" and "day". What I am trying to do is have a list that shows only the names of, for example Week 1 - Monday. Below is some of the code I am using to help you understand what I am trying to do.
I am trying to get anytihng from my SQLite to render in Flex, and I can't figure out how to display any data, even text, in Flex. What am I doing wrong?
[Code]...
I've tried a number of different components, and I can't seem to get the data to bind properly (although this code finally doesn't have the dreaded "Data binding will not be able to detect assignments to... " message, or the other dreaded "Property undefined" message).
I have a Flex application that I'm working on for a new job. It's sort of a training wheels application -- I'm learning the language, and this isn't an app that needs to talk to a service in order to do its job. There are a few instances of combo boxes throughout the application that share the same set of possible values (say, a selection of states: "In Progress", "Rejected", "Complete") that I want to have use the same data source.
i have in my flex application various mxml components that all need to show stats based on the same data. how can i go about doing that? do i need some mvc framework like cairngrom or puremvc for that or can i do it without them?
In my flex application, my custom class AudLogDataGrid has a renderer function that takes a list of data and filters it, before passing it to the renderer:
private function rendererFunction(item:Object, grid:Object):ClassFactory { var itemRenderer:ClassFactory = new ClassFactory(AudActionDropDownIR); var FilteredAudActionData:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(AudActionData.toArray());
[Code].....
However, rendererFunction runs before the data is fully retrieve from the server! Is there any way to get around this without declaring the AudLogDataGrid in AS?
I have a vertical tab-bar with 4 items with different sub tabs. All the four items use data from a single xml file, which is a big file. When the user clicks on a tab, while the data is being loaded this error is shown. TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. I want to disable all the tabs while the xml file is being loaded.
I'm trying to bring data from an sqlite database into a custom made menu. I have the menu working using an array with the code shown. But, now I would like the data to come from an sqlite database.
The code shown for the database, I have used for a previous job that pulled the data into a dataGrid. I now want that same data to put into my custom menu instead of a dataGrid. How would I change the second code to do this?
I think my main question is about the "watername_dg.addItem" in the second code below and how to change that to bring the data into my buttons.
ActionScript Code: //////////////PULLING DATA FROM AN ARRAY TO BUILD MENU////////////// var _menuArray:Array = new Array("Apples","Oranges","Pears","Grapes","Limes", "Carrots", "Peas", "Beans");
I have a professional license of Flex 3.3. This allows me to create applications using the data visualization components (charts) without watermarks. However, all of release builds (test, production, etc) occur on our build server.
The build server only has the Flex SDK installed (not full Flex Builder). As a result the SWFs compiled with this SDK contain watermarks on all the charts. How can I apply a Flex Builder Professional license to the build server to remove the watermakrs w/o installing Flex Builder?My build environment is Flex SDK 3.3 + CruiseControl.NET + NAnt.
I am using an accordian in which has three childs. Each child has some textInput elements.Now,i want to send data written in currently selected accordian's child's textInputs.I have created a function "configure" which is called when someone clicks a button. That function checks as to which child of accordian is selected. Whichever is selected, the textInputs' text of that child are stored in locally defined variables.how to pass these variable to the HTTPService i am sending at the end of function configure.
Codes:
private function configure():void { var selectedAlgos:Array = algosList.selectedItems;[code].....
I have a project that has 4 views where I'm using the tabBar with viewStack/NavigatorContent. I have a couple HTTPServices set up gathering the XML and converting to Bindable ArrayCollections. When and how is the best way to pass that data to such things as charts, dataGrids, etc. that aren't seen until the user clicks a tab? Right now I have each item set up with creationComplete functions that pass it then. Although it seems to be working, is this the best way, or is there something better and maybe even quicker?
It is only a "proof of concept" piece of code and it "lives" in the first frame of the timeline of the Flash IDE. What happens? When I compile my SWF (AIR for iPhone), I get this error:
I have a main mxml file (flex4) and want to pass a parameter (user_name) to a component in a directory called components. When I run the program, the user_name is NOT being sent from the main to the component file. (Interestingly, if you make the component visible, you can see the parameter has been passed).
I have hacked much larger files down to get the following two files: Main <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <s:Application xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" minWidth="955" minHeight="600" [Code] .....
I havent found quite what I want elsewhere or at least am not accomplished enough to adapt I'm trying to create a project that shows radio stations with logo, listen button etc The datasource is an xml file with child tags like 'name','image' and 'listen' for each parent, 'station'. I access this data via the main application with creationComplete="radioService.send()"
Im a complete beginner in Flex programming. I have an application with a main .mxml file, and a certain class Foo that I call from the .mxml. In Foo, I make a URLRequest and listen for the Complete event. Then I found myself with the returned data in a Foo function, but I have no idea how to communicate it to the .mxml part of the application ! I looked into ArrayCollections but I can't seem to understand how they work. Isn't there a way to modify, from inside the class, a variable with a global scope ?
I have a SplitViewNavigator with two split views. In one of the views I have a list and in another one I have questions. User must solve the question and when user click send button, he will see another question.
But when user click to send button in one view, how can i know this in the other view? I'm a newbie in Flash Builder and I'm searching for this for hours.
I know that the best way to make a connection from my main app to my modules is through interfaces.
So, my problem is, how can I implement an interface so my module can send and receive data from my main app?, cuz, I understand that my module implements an interface that is used by my main app.. but, can I do it "viceversa"?
Other issue I have is, why do I need to call my main app children if I can just import a module's class?.
I am created a dynamically adding a VBox, that contains two images. Into a Custom Component that is derived from UIComponent. The problem is the Vbox that contains the two image is only a really tiny size. I would like the VBox stretch to the size of the two images. This is how I am creating the Vbox....
In my case, some user interaction produces new values for the bindable variables "someDataProvider", and "someSelectedItem". However, when flex renders the DropDownList, the control's selected value is empty.
The reason for this is that the DropDownList's "selectedItem" property gets bound before the "dataProvider" property. The "dataProvider" needs to be bound first for "selectedItem" to be valid, this is because the new "selectedItem" points into the new "dataProvider".
what is the best practice for updating bindable properties in a specific order? I've come up with a few ways (e.g. using a valueCommit handler), but I wanted to see what the community had to say.
Is it bad practice/design to nest components inside components using Flex 4? Should I simply be creating components and inserting them into my main application as below, or doesn't it matter?
I am creating an application in Flex that uses an embedded SQLite database. The data in the database contains quotes and other special characters which are escaped using a backslash or ''.Before I retrieve the data and render it in a Flex text area control I want to remove the ''. Is there any function in Flex which can help me do this - some equivalent of stripslashes() in PHP?
I'm having a problem with an expression in my sql statement in SQLite for Adobe AIR basically I have this sql = "UPDATE uniforms SET status=@status WHERE customerId IN(19,20)"; updateStmt.parameters["@status"] = args[1]; updateStmt.execute();
if I run the above code it works, updating the status when the id are 19 and 20
but if I pass the ids list as a parameter like this
sql = "UPDATE uniforms SET status=@status WHERE customerId IN(@ids)"; updateStmt.parameters["@status"] = args[1]; updateStmt.parameters["@ids"] = "19,20"; updateStmt.execute();
it gives me and error, saying could not convert text value to numeric value, which make sense because I'm passing and string but the IN expression should convert it accordingly, like it does when I pass directly the list values, why is not working the other way,
