how I would pass a value to "SelectedChild" in ViewStack:
In the example below, I am trying to set a public property in a form called "register" after I have navigated there from another form called "login".
The result I get seems to be a compilation error:
Error: Access of possibly undefined property pagename through a reference with static type mx.core:INavigatorContent. vsMain.selectedChild.pagename = "register page";
I have a project that has 4 views where I'm using the tabBar with viewStack/NavigatorContent. I have a couple HTTPServices set up gathering the XML and converting to Bindable ArrayCollections. When and how is the best way to pass that data to such things as charts, dataGrids, etc. that aren't seen until the user clicks a tab? Right now I have each item set up with creationComplete functions that pass it then. Although it seems to be working, is this the best way, or is there something better and maybe even quicker?
I have a SplitViewNavigator with two split views. In one of the views I have a list and in another one I have questions. User must solve the question and when user click send button, he will see another question.
But when user click to send button in one view, how can i know this in the other view? I'm a newbie in Flash Builder and I'm searching for this for hours.

I'm working on an app in which I want the viewstack to switch views on certain events. I have them switching correctly but there appears to be a slight "blink" when the change between views occurs. I've tried creationPolicy="all" but that doesn't fix the problem. The reason the "blink" is so noticeable is the fact that the views in the viewstack are different width/heights. Is there a way to stop this "blinking" effect on viewstack view switch?
Inspired by this Flex question, is it seen as better practice to dispatch an event back to the parent app, as opposed to calling a method on the instance of the parent app, from within a module? To me it seems that the module shouldn't know what methods are available at the parent, as such approach leads to tight coupling.
Im a complete beginner in Flex programming. I have an application with a main .mxml file, and a certain class Foo that I call from the .mxml. In Foo, I make a URLRequest and listen for the Complete event. Then I found myself with the returned data in a Foo function, but I have no idea how to communicate it to the .mxml part of the application ! I looked into ArrayCollections but I can't seem to understand how they work. Isn't there a way to modify, from inside the class, a variable with a global scope ?
I'm used to building applications using pure AS3. I always pass dependencies into the constructor of classes I make, but this method seems to not work out well for Flex MXML views. It seems like I should define setters on the MXML class, which map to attributes in the tag/class instantiation. But using this method I cannot specify which properties are required and in what order I expect them etc. What is the preferred method to give a Flex view it's dependencies?
I know that the best way to make a connection from my main app to my modules is through interfaces.
So, my problem is, how can I implement an interface so my module can send and receive data from my main app?, cuz, I understand that my module implements an interface that is used by my main app.. but, can I do it "viceversa"?
Other issue I have is, why do I need to call my main app children if I can just import a module's class?.
I have a Flex application with three different views. Only one view is shown at a time, and the choice of view depends on what part of the application the user is working with. If it had been an ordinary HTML webapp I would have created three different HTML-templates/pages for each view.
What is the recommended way to handle such application views in Flex?
What are the criteria for decomposing a Flex applicaiton to views? I don't know if I can do what I want in flex, so imagine this in ASP: I have an aspx page that loads a Login.ascx control, the control checks if login is correct, and if so the aspx page loads the XXX.ascx control (so there is only one control visible).
I want to do more or less the same in Flex: I have the main application with the code that connects to the database, check the login, and if its correct it loads a new module. I have made everything until the module load, I mean, I have the main application (Login.mxml) associated to a Login.as, and a Module.mxml associated to a Module.as. When the user press the login button (in Login.mxml), a method is fired and checks the login. If it is correct, it shows the new module.
My problem is that it is shown in the same page that the login page, instead of "changing" the page. I have used two ways to do that: ModuleLoader and PopUpManager, and both load the new module in the same page.
QUESTION: How can I load, inside an application, a Flex module in a different page?

AS you can see I inlude the retail customer view in the retail state and the wholesale customer view in the wholesale state. The problem is that when I run my app they don't appear on neither state.
I have a list of txt files and when one is selected it is read and assigned to a string variable. this string is then pushed to a view : pushView(viewer, string), where the string is displayed in a textarea. I want to also pass the relative path of the file also. Is this possible to pass two strings?
Since my application is getting bigger, I decided to fragment my project into several modules, but the documentation from Swiz on Modules is very poor [URL]. I tried out the Swiz Examples [URL] but I couldn't inject any data into my module or even catch an event. The module is loaded properly however.
Ideally I will end up having multiple Flex-Projects, each containing one module and each .swf file is deployed into the application deploy folder. However if you aren't familiar with a structure like that, but instead you know how to inject data/event mediating into a module inside the same Flex project.
I found at this Adobe tutorial a nice "RemoteService" class that creates a RemoteObject and contains the functions for handling the result and fault events. If I wanted to use this approach, how could I pass the data from the result handler to interfaces that modules from the main application could use?
I could put the RemoteService/RemoteObject in the modules, but (in my opinion- and I could be wrong) the best design seems to be using the remote calls in the main app and passing the data along to the modules.
I am working on a feature for an application that requires Flex 4 functionality. Due to some migration issues of the application from Flex 3.5 to 4.0, I have decided to implement this feature as a module that is compiled with Flex 4.0. I am building a FLEX web application that also has a payment module where the user needs to enter his credit card details.
The whole Flex application runs on HTTP. However, whenever the user lands on a page where we ask for credit card details, we want these details to be sent over HTTPS.In this page we need information from the model of the application, because it holds certain selection the user did, the state the application is in, etc.
Do I need to make this page a Module that runs on HTTPS?
Or can I just configure the specific 'credit card' services (we have a JAVA back end) so that these run on HTTPS?

In flex 3 I have a hierarchical data structure. I would like to display the content of it in a tree. My problem is that I have nodes which data calculated from children nodes. How to structure the hierarchy to make automatic changes to those parent nodes, if their children's data changed? For example:
Every node has a warning flag. If some of the children warning flag changed to true, then the parent warning flag should change automatically set to true. A node integer field is the sum of the children integer fields, and if any of the children changes, the parent integer field "calculates" the sum immediately. Is there an easy solution wit good structuring changes happen automatically, or I have to make some custom functions?
