Flex :: Data - Pass Multiple Strings Between Views?
Aug 10, 2011
I have a list of txt files and when one is selected it is read and assigned to a string variable. this string is then pushed to a view : pushView(viewer, string), where the string is displayed in a textarea. I want to also pass the relative path of the file also. Is this possible to pass two strings?
I have 2 checkbox repeaters: The first gets populated w/ an ArrayCollection & the second gets populated w/ the "Label" and "Data" fields selected from the first checkbox....how do I pass another item to the second checkbox? In the code below, I am currently only passing the "key" and "val" fields & would like to pass "another" field.[code]...
I have an ArrayCollection bound to a view, I use a filterFunction on this view to only display parts of the contents. Additionally I have another component where I want to display other parts of the ArrayCollection.
What I would like to do is wrap ArrayCollections around each other, meaning I could have one ArrayCollection containing the model data, and then two separate outer ones where I can set the filterFunction property (setting this in the model seems inappropriate in all cases). Is this possible somehow? If not, how else can this be solved, preferably without forcing model logic to end up in my view?
Often multiple instances of the view component would be used in multiple places in an application. Each time I do this, I register the same mediator with a different name. When a notification is dispatched, I attach the name of the mediator to the body of the notification, like so:
I have data model (dataProvider as ArrayCollection) i want to display in few views , each view should show filtered data. As you probably know, filterFunction is property of ArrayCollection,so I can't use this solution (unless creating new instance of ArrayCollection for each view on top original and impementing filterFunction).
I have a project that has 4 views where I'm using the tabBar with viewStack/NavigatorContent. I have a couple HTTPServices set up gathering the XML and converting to Bindable ArrayCollections. When and how is the best way to pass that data to such things as charts, dataGrids, etc. that aren't seen until the user clicks a tab? Right now I have each item set up with creationComplete functions that pass it then. Although it seems to be working, is this the best way, or is there something better and maybe even quicker?
I have a SplitViewNavigator with two split views. In one of the views I have a list and in another one I have questions. User must solve the question and when user click send button, he will see another question.
But when user click to send button in one view, how can i know this in the other view? I'm a newbie in Flash Builder and I'm searching for this for hours.
I work on AS3 one week, and then take a break for a few weeks, then work on it a day, take a break, etc.. So I forget some of the basics, and need refreshers. I think I need to stop taking breaks.
Problem: I push multiple strings into an array, and some of the strings are the same.
Code: var myArray = new Array(); myArray.push (Snivvle); myArray.push (Kirupa); myArray.push (Snivvle);
I want to find out which element positions "Snivvle" hogs up. We can see that it would be using element 0 and 2, and if we do an "indexOf" we would only get to see element 0, and doing a "lastIndexOf" we would only see element 2. How do I find out ALL of the element positions "Snivvle" is located in, so that it returns: element 0, element 2.
what I need to do is combine 5 arrays with 5 individual strings (which have come from a JSON webservice) into one single list item in FlashBuilder Burrito. [code]I've pulled these out successfully and each one traces in the debugger, although as I need them all in the same list I'm struggling to establish them as a dataprovider together.If I push the strings and arrays together it is impossible to read properly, as the main Titles are at a different level to any descriptors for the products which are in the arrays.
I'm developing a Flash interface that needs to pass a multi-select list to PHP from AS3. I have a similar interface programmed in HTML and JavaScript, and due to the quirks of PHP I use a series of like-named hidden fields to store the data. The fields are named, for example, "my_ option_text[]". The use of the square brackets in the name somehow identifies to PHP that this is an array and it treats it as such. I've had no problem using this method to send data to my PHP processing page and have been able to save it correctly. Now I'm trying to use the same PHP save page to process the data from Flash. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to configure my URLVariables class properties to appropriately pass an array that will be identified as such by PHP. I've tried simply assigning an array to an appropriately named property of the URLVariables class, but the PHP only recognizes one item, not all items. I've tried using the same naming convention as that I use in HTML/JavaScript, but the square brackets aren't appreciated by AS3.
I can't believe that I'm the first person to encounter this issue. If anyone can point me in the right direction on how to resolve this I'd appreciate it. I did try searching these forums but only found one case discussing PHP arrays, and that was sending data into Flash, not from Flash to PHP.
We can pass data to the next view while using navigator.pushview, but the data is lost when the back button is clicked (popview).
I have views that make remote calls and I want to keep the data when the user navigates back to the view using the back button so I don't have to make a remote call again.
Is there a way to set a global variable that's accessible from all views, or a way to retain data when a user navigates back to a view using the back button?
I have this code that activates when rollover, rollout, and release. I functions for rollover and rollout works, but the release function does not. I'm trying to pass some strings with url's to the function within a loop.
var url1:String = "http://www.google.com"; var url2:String = "http://www.google.com"; var url3:String = "http://www.google.com";
The documentation on parameters for application.onConnect() is below. It can take a Client "object" but is ambiguous about the optional parameters (strings vs objects). I'm guessing just strings?
I have a user value object with a few pieces of info in it that I pass around client side and would like the server to add it to its list of users (usersSO). I'm guessing I'll have to send it up in pieces and recreate it somehow on the server?
ParametersclientObjA Client object. This object contains information about the client that is connecting to the application.p1 ..., pNOptional parameters passed to the application.onConnect() handler from the client-side NetConnection.connect()
I have a Flex 4 application that loads a module. Everything works fine except that I cant create and object or cast an object to a type of my module. At run time it throws an error. I'm not sure if there is an issue with modules, Flex4, and spark? I've tried many different ways to set/cast these objects, but nothing seems to work.
I have a parent w/ a popup child. When parent loads, I have to call a function within the popup without showing the popup (thus, I load "pupLove" but don't include it in layout)....I then pass this data to the parent. When the user manually clicks another button to open the popup, the same function is called & data passed to the parent. However, I am not able to pass dg.length to the parent. I believe the root problem is that I am loading "pupLove" & thus the parents are getting confused.....I'm guessing if I get rid of "pupLove" I can pass the data correctly but will need to call the child's function at creationComplete of the parent....how do I do that?Here's my parent:
I would like to track the customer experience in downloading and initializing my flex app.
(a) Is there a way to pass data from preloader to the application? I would like to pass the time it takes to download and the time it takes to initialize.
(b)Alternatively: Is there an event at the application level that corresponds to the preloader events:
1. Download complete
2. Initialization complete (same as Application creationComplete)
I have created an item-renderer (IListItemRenderer) to customize the display of a datagrid, and I override the data getter/setter to pass in the relevant variable.
In the item-renderer I have a button, which, when clicked, should display a form populated with various fields of the aforementioned variable. To do this, Button is overridden so that it displays whatever IFactory implementation it is passed.
private function instantiateDropdown():void { _dropdownFactory = new ClassFactory(MyPanel); _dropdownFactory.properties = {boundData: _myVariable};
[Code]....
My IFactory implementation is a panel containing my form, and it is displayed when the button is clicked, as desired. However, the variable is not set. It seems that in order to instantiate my IFactory before the overridden button needs to access it, my new ClassFactory() statement needs to be in the preinitialize event handler, but the variable has not been set at that time. Setting the properties of my IFactory instance after it has been created (e.g. in the click event) does not appear to work.
How should I pass my variable to my ClassFactory-generated instance so that it populates the form correctly?
I have a Facebook application that has a picture gallery. It's build in Flex 4. I want to allow users to link to a specific image. How can that be done?
The only way I see this being done is adding a GET var like &my_picture=asd.jpg in the Facebook page URL, but I don't know how to read that from the iFrame.
I found at this Adobe tutorial a nice "RemoteService" class that creates a RemoteObject and contains the functions for handling the result and fault events. If I wanted to use this approach, how could I pass the data from the result handler to interfaces that modules from the main application could use?
I could put the RemoteService/RemoteObject in the modules, but (in my opinion- and I could be wrong) the best design seems to be using the remote calls in the main app and passing the data along to the modules.
