I am having an issue with using the SplitViewNavigator component in flex 4.6 using Adobe Flash Builder.
[UPDATED]* * *
I am building a reddit app for the blackberry playbook tablet, and am making use of reddit's API. I have three mxml views: RedditReaderHomeView .mxml, redditFeed.mxml, and subredditList.mxml. In RedditReaderHomeView.mxml I have a splitViewNavigator. In left side of my SplitViewNavigator resides subredditList.mxml, and on the right side resides redditFeed.mxml. On initialization, redditFeed.mxml pulls in XML data to populate its list with reddit entries, and subredditList.mxml pulls in XML data which populates its list with subreddits(categories) to display. When a user clicks on of the subreddit entries on the left, the redditFeed.mxml on the right should update so that the data it pulls are entries from the subreddit category that was selected on the left. In other words, classic master/detail navigation. Category on the left, which opens entries of that category on the right.I have a function that passes the url of the selected subreddit over to redditFeed.mxml.
subredditList.mxml - here a subreddit is selected and its url is sent over to a function in redditFeed.mxml
public function list_clickHandler(event:IndexChangeEvent):void { var RSSItem:Object = redditList.dataProvider.getItemAt(event.newIndex); var thisItem:Item = RSSItem as Item;[code]....
When I move page01 to page02, I pass the same data along with it using the following code:navigator.pushView(Page02, data); How do I move to page02 with passing the next row of data (instead of the same data)? In other word, how to increment to the next row of data with pushView?
I built a simple hello world app to check out the Flash Builder 4.5 mobile capabilities. Here's how it works:The Default View asks for name in an textinput and has a continue button. When you click the continue button it pushes a new view in the viewNavigator which just displays "Hello " + name in a label. When you click anywhere in this view, it pops a view (i.e. itself) from the viewNavigator, to go back to the default view
I see only 1 issue with this:When I get back to the default view, it is in its initial state, i.e. the textInput is blank. It seems as if the viewNavigator created a new view of the default view's class and pushed this, instead of just removing the top view and displaying the previous one.I see this being especially problematic for programs which display data in a grid and you can click the data to view the detail...when you get back, the grid will be empty.
I have decided to go the route of using ViewNavigator and having one view with 3 states. Each state is a "page". It runs just fine on the desktop but when compiled for mobile, the transitions between the pages is really laggy, even for the Samsung Galaxy S. The phone has the 2.7 runtime and I recompiled my application with ADT 2.7, still no performance increase.
I have also tried cacheAsBitmapMatrix on all 3 pages, which are all contained in a VBox and that hasn't shown any significant performance bumps. All I'm changing is the y component of the VBox for each transition.
EDIT: I have done some more research and I am now to the point where I have hardware acceleration turned on and cacheAsBitmap = true and cacheAsBitmapMatrix = new Matrix(). I am also using Stats.as to see the FPS. I notice on my state changes I go from 25 FPS to 2 and then it goes back up again.
I'm trying to create a custom view (one that is not 100% listview, for example), mix and matching images and labels. One issue is that when the label overflows greater than the screen height, the rest just gets off. I had assumed scrolling or touch-drag scrolling would be automatically enabled? How do you enable the touch-drag scrolling that happens naturally in list view?
I have four views:1.SplitView (main view)2.SplitViewHomeView(root Panel)3.SimpleView(Right panel)4.Details(child of Right Panel View).I am trying to accomplish the split view as in Ipad in adobe flex mobile. But unable to connect the root panel to right panel...Can any one suggest the path to me.My Code is below
In Flex 4.5 for mobile is it possible to check if there is > 1 view on a navigation stack and display a back button accordingly? If so how can I do this?My application is based ons:ViewNavigatorApplicationI'm adding a back button like this
I'm new to developing iOS applications and my school gave me approximately 5 months to develop an iPad application. I have no knowledge or practice on Objective C so since Flash Builder 4.5 allows the development of mobile applications (and I have experiences with Flash Builder), I decided to develop my application on Flash Builder instead.
Everything is going fine until I was told to include a SplitView in my application. I implemented a List on the left side of the application. Clicking on any of the list items will navigate the user to a to another view but i also included and retained the list on the left side of the new view in order to simulate a "SplitView".
Initially it felt as though it will do the job of a SplitView like how it does when I attempted it on XCODE but it doesn't look or feel natural. I found this video which shows that it is possible to create a SplitView on FB but I've cracked my brains and I really can't figure out how it is done.
I need to convert a lot of stuff in my profession - so I'm building a conversion tool for my phone with some of the conversions I use a lot. Now, I want to be able to build this properly. So far, here's my code:
I am developing a flex application for mobile devices. This application will sync customer data down from an api to the mobile device. But once on the device I plan to hold it in sqlLite DB. How can I secure this data? I know that I could hash it but I guess that that someone would be able to decompile the application and get the hash key. I am new to flex and mobile development.
First off I am new to using Flex, but I have pieced this app together with help from online tutorials and information. Basically my app is like a directory of names, addresses and so forth, but I also have additional fields of "week" and "day". What I am trying to do is have a list that shows only the names of, for example Week 1 - Monday. Below is some of the code I am using to help you understand what I am trying to do.
I have a flex-application deployed on tomcat with blazeds. User constantly selects ranges excel-document. Now, a user enters a cell addresses in text fields (for example, C1: C20). But it is very inconvenient! How to display excel-data as a table in my application? I think, I can parse excel-document using Apach POI and transmit these data to the Flex-application. But there are other ways?
I'm trying to get the title from the selecteditem from this datagrid (which is filled by a rss-feed) in a label. I've searched for ways, but I can't find how I should get this done.
This is the eventhandler I've added to the datagrid, and the function:
dgAutoFill.addEventListener(ListEvent.ITEM_CLICK, showDetails); public function showDetails(event:ListEvent):void { lblTitle.text = ?; }
I'm developing a mobile AIR application using IntelliJ.
When debugging in Flash Builder there is an option to clear to application data on each (debug) launch of the ADL (see screenshot below) However, I can't find this setting in IntelliJ or some ADL parameter to force a clear on each new debug session. I was wondering if such an option exist in IntelliJ or ADL.
A little background: I'm using the PersistanceManager in the application to store some user settings and I want to be able to start the application without the saved settings from my previous run. Using this setting in Flash Builder does the trick, but I'm having no luck with IntelliJ.
A question about ItemRenderers: let's say I have an ArrayCollection that is my application data sitting inside a global object. I them populate a sparks list with this data, setting the ArrayCollection as the dataProvider.
So each ItemRenderer gets a copy of an item sitting in the array. You can override the "set data" method to set the data something more domain-specific. The problem is that the data is a copy of the original item.
Now let's say we want to add some data to the item while inside the ItemRender. For example, it could call a method on the item telling it to load some details about itself, or maybe we allow the user to modify something on the item.
Obviously, we can't do any of this if we are operating on a copy because it will be thrown away as soon as the ItemRenderer is destroyed and the original object doesn't know anything about what happened.
So what's the best practice? Should I just use the itemIndex of the renderer to pull out the original item from my global array like this:
{globalArrayCollection}.getItemAt(this.itemIndex) But it seems kind of clunky to me. Is there a best practice for dealing with this?
I have a program with a list of item. An item is an actionScript class that extends View. When I click on the list, it push the view. In the constructor of this class I add some buttons and I have a function that add another button. My problem is that the view display only the button create in the constructor and not the one create in the function.[code]...

I am developing a mobile project in Flash builder using flex 4.5. I am very new to flex, with some background in Obj-C.urrent Setup:I am passing the text property of a text input component to a second view via navigator.pushview{view.Someview, data}public function doSomething():void{navigator.pushView(Session_View, timeInput.text); This successfully passes the text I put into the textinput to the Session_View instance and I can display that text in a label in the mxml; however, I would like to take the text passed and convert it to an integer to use in my logic.Within Action Script I have tried parseInt() function with no luck.I have also tried to assign data to a variable in actionscript with no luck.
I am working on a Flex 4.5 app tageting Android. In different views the app needs to load and display images which I have deployed as part of the app. Where do I put these images? And how do I load them? I am familiar with @Embed for images, but this doesn't seem to be the correct approach in this case. I also know how to load from the file system, but I really don't know how to include my images as part of the app for distribution.
I'm working on a Flex application that uses MVVM. I understand that it's recommended to have a 1-to-1 mapping between views and view-models. How then do I avoid performing the same calculations and storing the same data multiple times if it is needed in multiple views?
For example, imagine I have a program that can load project files consisting of a list of items. The main tab of my application has an export button that should only be enabled if the project is valid so I create an isExportEnabled property on the view-model for the main tab. The calculation for this involves validating the project by iterating though every item in the project and verifying some attribute on each. I have another tab which has a "Print Project Summary" button so the view-model for this tab has isPrintEnabled. The value for this flag is based on the same criteria, whether or not the project is valid.
I could put the logic for determining these values in their respective view-models, but then I end up calculating the same value twice when a project is loaded. I could move isValid to the domain model but then the model becomes denormalized. What if a saved project is edited without updating the "isValid" flag? I could make a global "Project View-Model" for the entire project which calculates whether the project is valid and then have isExportEnabled and isPrintEnabled delegate to that. However, then I end up with a hierarchy of view-models which this article recommends avoiding: Applying the Presentation Model in Flex
i have online game and i have to know how to do this easy thing i have inventory and under things like first aid is number of objects and its combobox and after change i want to change variable kolko[i] to equals combobox name : "co"+i and that selecteditem data , i have this
I have a Flex 4 application that loads a module. Everything works fine except that I cant create and object or cast an object to a type of my module. At run time it throws an error. I'm not sure if there is an issue with modules, Flex4, and spark? I've tried many different ways to set/cast these objects, but nothing seems to work.
I have a parent w/ a popup child. When parent loads, I have to call a function within the popup without showing the popup (thus, I load "pupLove" but don't include it in layout)....I then pass this data to the parent. When the user manually clicks another button to open the popup, the same function is called & data passed to the parent. However, I am not able to pass dg.length to the parent. I believe the root problem is that I am loading "pupLove" & thus the parents are getting confused.....I'm guessing if I get rid of "pupLove" I can pass the data correctly but will need to call the child's function at creationComplete of the parent....how do I do that? Here's my parent:
