I am developing a flex application for mobile devices. This application will sync customer data down from an api to the mobile device. But once on the device I plan to hold it in sqlLite DB. How can I secure this data? I know that I could hash it but I guess that that someone would be able to decompile the application and get the hash key. I am new to flex and mobile development.

I built a simple hello world app to check out the Flash Builder 4.5 mobile capabilities.Here's how it works:The Default View asks for name in an textinput and has a continue button.When you click the continue button it pushes a new view in the viewNavigator which just displays "Hello " + name in a label.When you click anywhere in this view, it pops a view (i.e. itself) from the viewNavigator, to go back to the default view
I see only 1 issue with this:When I get back to the default view, it is in its initial state, i.e. the textInput is blank. It seems as if the viewNavigator created a new view of the default view's class and pushed this, instead of just removing the top view and displaying the previous one.I see this being especially problematic for programs which display data in a grid and you can click the data to view the detail...when you get back, the grid will be empty.

I'm developing a mobile AIR application using IntelliJ.
When debugging in Flash Builder there is an option to clear to application data on each (debug) launch of the ADL (see screenshot below) However, I can't find this setting in IntelliJ or some ADL parameter to force a clear on each new debug session. I was wondering if such an option exist in IntelliJ or ADL.
A little background: I'm using the PersistanceManager in the application to store some user settings and I want to be able to start the application without the saved settings from my previous run. Using this setting in Flash Builder does the trick, but I'm having no luck with IntelliJ.
A question about ItemRenderers: let's say I have an ArrayCollection that is my application data sitting inside a global object. I them populate a sparks list with this data, setting the ArrayCollection as the dataProvider.
So each ItemRenderer gets a copy of an item sitting in the array. You can override the "set data" method to set the data something more domain-specific. The problem is that the data is a copy of the original item.
Now let's say we want to add some data to the item while inside the ItemRender. For example, it could call a method on the item telling it to load some details about itself, or maybe we allow the user to modify something on the item.
Obviously, we can't do any of this if we are operating on a copy because it will be thrown away as soon as the ItemRenderer is destroyed and the original object doesn't know anything about what happened.
So what's the best practice? Should I just use the itemIndex of the renderer to pull out the original item from my global array like this:
{globalArrayCollection}.getItemAt(this.itemIndex) But it seems kind of clunky to me. Is there a best practice for dealing with this?

And how do I load them? I am familiar with @Embed for images, but this doesn't seem to be the correct approach in this case. The master view shows a list. When selecting an item from that list it opens a second view with a new list by using navigator.pushView.
When I select an item in the second view/list it has to be passed to the detailview. Is there a simple solution available?
I would like to move (right or left according the current view) between 2 views when I move my finger on the mobile screen; for example with Google+ mobile application, in profil section, you can change the view just on move your finger on the screen, and the offset and the moving speed must be checked before change complete view.
View 2 RepliesI have a TabNavigator component that keeps added a hash (#) to the URL. I need to prevent this. I have it set to historyManagementEnabled="false" but it is still adding the # to the URL when it initializes. The reason why adding this hash is such a problem is because, I am using .htaccess to give my URL a pretty URL like domain.com/designer/category/product/id when the page is really located at domain.com/product.php?pid=id So in order for my assets to load correctly I had to add a base tag like this:
<base href="[URL]" />
But since I have this base tag set, whenever my flex app adds the # to the URL, the page is now automatically redirected to the homepage. Any way to stop the TabNavigator from adding the # to the URL.

Loading the swf file and testing it on my machine works just fine... I think that may have something to do with me having the debugger version of Flash Player. When I push it up to App Engine to make it public, other clients access it and get a Client.Error.MessageSend Channel.Security.Error error Error #2048 url: http:[url].......I am using Flex 4 beta, and the App Engine Python runtime. I have tried full wildcard in the crossdomain, and even accessing the data endpoint at a relative URL so as to avoid this error.
My ant buildfiles tell mxmlc.jar to recompile target mxml source. However, if the target mxml source file has not changed, either ant or mxmlc is ignoring the file and will not create a new swf. This is an annoyance because I'm editing files imported by the target mxml. I need it to rebuild when those files change. I'm guessing that the mxmlc is creating a cache file somewhere and comparing the target mxml (or maybe just a hash). Is this what is happening? What's the standard work-around? At the moment, I'm editing the target mxml just to cause a file change.

First I'd like to write what we have and then will explain our problems.oot of application (/) checks for signed_request in POST params, extracts information from it to see if we've registered the logged in user into our database. This checks are also used to understand if the request is sent from Facebook or not to prevent requests coming outside of Facebook. We use that cookie information while processing ajax requests to check if the request really belongs to the logged in user (e.g.: scores being sent for a user belong to the logged in user).
We implemented CSRF protection and another protection to check if the requests are POST and more specifically AJAX requests and return 40x if not.nd out that some people seem to take advantage of this bug.One way I thought of is to ignore all requests except coming from Facebook. Since the ajax requests are blocked (cross site) we should have been safe. However this leaded to another problem that, once we redirect users to e.g. leaderboard the signed_request data is lost and our index page returns 40x once the user tries to go back since our application thinks that the user tries to visit our application outside of Facebook.
I have made a game that sends and recevies data from an online leaderboard. It uses PHP and mySQL, and all works fine when running the .swf off my computer. The problem is, when the game is uploaded and running online, it fails to both receive and send the data to the leaderboard. I don't know why! When I first ran the game offline, a security box appeared that told me I had to allow it to access the server. So, I'm thinking it might be a security problem. Is there a similar security setting that I have to enable on the server somewhere? Or some code I can put to the game to override it? Note that everything is on the same server at the moment so I dont need any of that CrossDomain stuff, I think.

I haven't fully grasped how the flash security model works, and now I've ran into a problem. I have a base SWF that loads a game loader swf, which in turn loads the actual game.What I'm trying to do is taking a current bitmap snapshot of the running game. This works fine before the loader swf has loaded the game. When the game is loaded, I get a security violation because the game has images pulled from facebook. Is this something that can be solved on my end, or restricted by security in the game swf?

I have a grails application using jquery mobile. I am hoping to find some way to access the camera on the devices. I thought about using flash to grab the webcam but that obviously wont work on Apple devices. Does anyone know of a way to do it and keep it all browser based? I am hoping that there is a plugin somewhere or maybe html5 has some magic in there that supports it.

i've got a few fonts embedded and am using them in my mobile application, and they are all working, except for the ones i try to use for the "ActionBar". They work everywhere else, and substituting "Comic Sans MS" for "titleCGF" changes it to Comic Sans. So why won't it work with my custom fontFamily?

I have a flex mobile application that I am working on that I am having issues with selecting an image from roll/taking a picture. My application is not tabbed, however one part of it contains a Tabbed View Navigator with tabs across the bottom. Within one of those tabs, I have the ability to upload an image to a webservice that I have created. However, when I select an image or take the picture, it pops back out to the initial splash screen and the application restarts. If I use the component standalone (outside of the tabbed view navigator) it selects the image and uploads without any problem.
